They could also serve as "Valkyries", swooping to fetch back dead heroes' bodies in order to allow for their later resurrection. This is a very important task, I think.
Great idea to allow player agency.
In our campaign, the Battle of the Queens happened before our PCs obtained hippogriffs. But, they were quite rich, and spent many thousands of Lunars hiring Chalana Arroy healers from Nochet. Many of the Colymar slain or wounded survived thanks to their efforts.

Are you seriously writing poetry without Passion?
It'll suck. Trust me on this.
Best answer ever. Or at least in a month or so. Instead of making up a new skill and mechanics, use existing ones.
This does raise the question of how good your language skill should be. 80% is way too high, but 10% seems feeble. But otherwise, I love this take.

Any. So you could boost that 0% Element to the 50% range where it becomes useable.

Assuming you could train your 0% Elemental rune up to 10% or whatever, what do you plan to do with it? Not good for Inspiration nor casting Rune Spells. As things stand on RQG, runes that start at 0% are seldom worth worrying about.

What I would say is "OK, the physics in Glorantha mean that Hippogriffs and Dragons can fly" and go with that.
The original question was not "can they fly". By asking about a stall speed, it implicitly assumed they could somehow fly.
The question was about their maneuverability, especially with a rider.
As for the claims that Kestrels can hover, that is generally only when wind aided. So they have a stall speed too.
"Kestrels, however, are the only bird of prey capable of hovering. Unlike smaller hummingbirds, kestrels are incapable of beating their wings fast enough to generate enough lift to keep them aloft, so they have to face into the wind and rely on it to provide lift for them."
...
"some sources claim that kestrels can hover without any wind at all ... Hovering without any wind is a lot harder to control..."

Please don't enter anybody! I want a better chance to win. 🙂
More seriously, they (I have nothing to do with the contest) are putting in a lot of time and effort, please enter.

Unsurprisingly, RW "physics" is irrelevant.
So if the hippogriffs wings are knocked below zero HP by enemy spells or missile fire, would you rule that they "keep flying"?

I'm giving this a negative "confused" icon for the clickbait title. Why not put the full question in the title? Then we could choose whether to click or not.

Physics explicitly doesn't work in Glorantha
The "Falling Damage" table on page 156 proves this wrong. As does the way impact bonuses work. And much more.

so how would one go about rezzing someone like Kallyr who seems unreachable?
8 minutes ago, Eff said:Go full Arkat. Figure out where she is, (probably in the Sky World), start exploring myths wantonly to locate the mythological connection that will take you directly to wherever she's at. (Easily enough, she's associated with Rigsdal and Sky Orlanth, time to start digging up star-related stories!) And then talk her into abandoning the existence she has achieved. And have a spare body hanging around she can climb into.
Trivial stuff.
In our campaign, my PC gave a speech in Boldhome proposing the theory that Kallyr doesn't want to come back. She is spent, in horrible pain, all of her family is dead, along with most of her boon companions. Only some horrid Lovecraftian sorcerer would bring her back to this world. Let her be.
"Let her rest in the halls of the All Father, with her friends and kin, in whose great company she shall know neither shame nor defeat."

So no more than 3pt armour and moderate weapons for now, Cue loud cursing from the Thane of Apple Lane
Our group is facing the same decision. I think my PC is the only heavy warrior contemplating down-armoring by 2-3 points everywhere.

They hover like birds of prey
Birds of prey only hover in strong winds.
But I agree we are sweating ( but so far having fun with) the small details.

We've won several Pegasus Plateau hippogriffs, and two of us are physicists trying to calculate their maneuverability. A lot comes down to their minimum speed to remain airborne.
And, if you ask, "African". 🙂

We have roughly half the PCs in a "core" group of all Colymar / Taralings, including a brother/sister and cousin. The other half are "vagabonds" who are slowly getting more and more attached to the core group. It works well.
This gives your players a bit of an option while still tying into the social and clan aspects. We even have extensive family trees.

But getting the permission, for an Etyries cultist to worship at an Issaries temple, should be a major challenge.
Nothing a generous donation to the "Widows and Orphans Fund" can't handle. Or, as @Nick Brooke suggests, a reciprocal agreement, akin to what various yacht clubs have.

Page 215.
- Heavy Scale Cuirass, for chest only, weighs 3 ENC
- Heavy Scale Skirts, for abdomen only, weighs 3 ENC
- Heavy scale Hauberk, that covers both, weighs ... 3 ENC!
I could see the hauberk being less than 6 because it is more "efficient" somehow, but 3 seems wrong.
Maybe I have an out of date version of the rules, or this is covered in the errata??? My search on "heavy scale" didn't pick up anything.

yeah, I'll make sure that the walktapus, the giant and Cwim all have dismiss magic, just because the developers fumbled their game design roll with a 00 (Blow it badly, roll twice more) then they created Sword Trance and combined it with the over 100% rule.
The worst part is when the walktapus or wolf or scorpion man attack at 0%, get parried by a greatsword, and get all their teeth and limbs chopped off while attacking!

So I apologize for the confusion the hit wasn't quite as severe as I initially remembered - still I was amazed that the PC survived.
I'm sure in the stories in the bars it sounds much more like your original story! 🙂

@d(sqrt(-1)) to be honest, I wondered how the Storm Bull survived 30 to the Abdomen as well. Assumed the GM doubled the CON and hence the HP.

how did the Berserker survive
The spell had double effects vs chaos. So it would double your HP, not "just" +50%.

Something I used to do in my old Pendragon games might work, too. I used to give players a token that they could spend to get a Lucky Hit or force a Lucky Miss. It could be spent after the dice were rolled. New PCs might get 2 or 3, while more experienced knights might get one or none. Wise rookies would save theirs to avoid instant death.
Fire and Sword, developed by Ray Turney and discussed elsewhere on BRP, had explicit "script immunity" for PCs

My specific question is this. Lets say somebody sings a wonderful version of Pelorian Rhapsody, not sampling any Queen. Or perhaps my take on Someday Soon. It is still obviously a use of a copyrighted melody, and some of the words. Is that acceptable? Or do we need to go all Francis Child / Steeleye Span and find older tunes to Gloranthify?

One suggestion. (Maybe somebody has already done this?)
A little episode guide, like for a TV show. E.g. "Kulbrast loses his arm, Gina learns that she is Argrath's love child...". Would help for those of us who watch rarely but occasionally want to rejoin the story.
