The most Lovecraftian thing he's written IMHO is The Mist. The movie is good too.
The nameless mist... Interesting, perhaps I shall look into it

I don't like horror much, it's why I prefer BRP over CoC and it's why I don't watch much horror movie.
But in a moment of boredom now I'm watching Doctor Sleep, from a Stephen King novel..
I'm not sure this is an accurate critic, but I feel like I want to say I understand why Stephen King is so successful. He doesn't just write a scary stuff, it's a meaningful and internally consistent, there is a real story here!
Like it so far, even like it's a long 2 hours and half!
I've never seen or read any Stephen King, but what you just said makes me want to:)

I was just wondering why you duplicate it here while it is already in the Alastor's Scull Inn.
My mindset was that different people view different threads, and I'm trying to maximize my outreach.

Are you sure this is the right forum for all these posts ?
My videos pertain to the BRP system, so I thought it would be appropriate, yes. I have been posting on this thread for over a month and the mods were not displeased, as far as I know. If you don't like the content, you could ban me (then you wouldn't see what I post) or just not come on this thread. Is there a specific reason behind this question? Has anything in my content offended you or do you think my videos are off the topic of ttrpgs?
I have a couple other places I post my content, such as blog posts and a thread by the same name in the Scull Inn.
If there's anything I can do to better accommodate the needs of this forum, or your own preferences, just let me know! Thank you:)

Thank you! Though strictly speaking I'm getting back to it. I own the 4th edition (it's in a box somewhere...), and got a chance to play briefly about 30 years ago. For all I remember about it, I might as well be a total newbie!
My grandfather introduced me to Lovecraft's work almost 40 years ago. He read some of the later stories as they came out in Weird Tales, and owned a number of Arkham House books before I was born. He was always into the coolest stuff! I have him to thank for my taste in books.
That's awesome! I have a complete collection of his fiction work which I got 2 years ago. I actually discovered his work through my love of the board game industry. There has been a definite change in the past couple years; it's gone from Tolkien and LoTR to Lovecraftian horror, and I found this amazing game! I've been role-playing with DnD for like 5 years, but now, there's no turning back!

I haven't picked up the Keeper's Rulebook yet (still going through the Starter set), but does the preview available on DriveThruRPG reflect the latest rules version? If so, I found an erratum:
Page 16, right column: In the last (Garrie) Keeper paragraph, it says "...the windows are barred with iron gratings...". This is correct. But in the last paragraph, it says "Do the grills on the windows unlock and swing back?" This should probably also be gratings. If not, it should be spelled "grilles".
Welcome to the greatest horror RPG, and my personal favorite!

I don't think that having a 'Mythos inspired' cause for callous mass murder in any way reduces the culpability of the perpetrators. In fact, their willingness to sacrifice a vast number for their own perceived benefit may increase their crime.
Twin Peaks has a marvellous discussion between Dale and Harry concerning which is worse - the demonic or the purely human evil. I have used it in Ethics classes and Bible studies alike! It is always interesting to watch the conversation develop 😳
Wow, that would be a most interesting conversation...

Well, I was referring to you, who I assume is a man, no bias intended, Sir!
Although one never can tell by this point, so I guess the fault is mine by assumption. 💀

I have yet to hear a Tool song I did not like (the guitar is awesome as a bit of a shredder on my good days on rhythm guitar, I wish I could go there). Unfortunately, he is all too correct/accurate in his lyrics.
Thanks.
Same here, my current favorite band! HWIP if you know what I mean;)

Eye on the TV
'Cause tragedy thrills me
Whatever flavor it happens to be like
Killed by the husband
Drowned by the ocean
Shot by his own son
She used a poison
In his tea
And kissed him goodbye
That's my kind of story
It's no fun until someone dies
Don't look at me like
I am a monster
Frown out your one face
But with the other
Stare like a junkie
Into the TV
Stare like a zombie
While the mother
Holds her child
Watches him die
Hands to the sky crying
"Why, oh why?"
'Cause I need to watch things die
From a distance
Vicariously I live
While the whole world dies
You all need it too, don't lie
Why can't we just admit it?
Why can't we just admit it?
We won't give pause until the blood is flowing
Neither the brave nor bold
Were writers of the stories told
We won't give pause until the blood is flowing
I need to watch things die
From a good safe distance
Vicariously I live while the whole world dies
You all feel the same, so
Why can't we just admit it?
Blood like rain come down
Drum on grave and ground
Part vampire
Part warrior
Carnivore and voyeur
Stare at the transmittal
Sing to the death rattle
La, la, la, la, la, la-la-lie
La, la, la, la, la, la-la-lie
La, la, la, la, la, la-la-lie
La, la, la, la, la, la-la-lie
Credulous at best
Your desire to believe in
Angels in the hearts of men
Pull your head out of your hippie haze
And give a listen
Shouldn't have to say it all again
The universe is hostile, so impersonal
Devour to survive, so it is
So it's always been
We all feed on tragedy
It's like blood to a vampire
Vicariously I
Live while the whole world dies
Much better you than II believe this epic song represents the Legion. If you've never heard it, let me know what you think, haha!

OK, cool. Rather unconventional art style for Call of Cthulhu, but pretty spectacular!

Hello, all.
Well, as the title says, I'm a relatively new and inexperienced Keeper for Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition. I've run my players through The Haunting scenario, provided by the Quick Start Guide, and I have a few other modules that I'm planning to run to get a short-lived campaign going.
One of my players has decided to take on the role of Arkham's organized crime boss, a bootlegger and wealthy businessman. He pumped up his Credit Rating during character creation, though I can't recall the exact number off the top of my head (it puts him into either the Wealthy or Rich category). He's got a house, a car, some firearms, but he's wondering what else he can do with his money in this game. He's made some comments about wanting to help out the community, make sure that Arkham Asylum isn't the stereotypical playground for mad scientists, but instead actually runs competently and does what it's supposed to do (helping those with mental conditions rather than harming them). I get the sense that he's wanting to invest a lot of his character's wealth into Arkham itself to see it prosper despite the Mythos lurking in the shadows.
I just have no idea how to make something like this work in-game, short of making liberal use of the Contacts ability and possibly allowing him to use Credit Rating for the roll.
Other places of interest to him include: the bar he owns, the local museum, the hospital, and possibly some apartments (to alleviate homelessness).
Any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.
One thing about the rules in any RPG is that they are more suggestions than rules. You could make Credit Rating checks, but if he has the money, I would just let him invest during downtime or improvement phase. Or you could make the asylum important to the main story line (or the site of a side scenario) and you'd have lots of role-playing opportunities from perhaps letting him/her fix it up, then watch as it spirals downward again from his/her actions, hahahaa;)
