Pao
I wanted to do a Dst inspired Call of Cthulhu game, but I can't find Hunger mechanic in The Core or Investigator rule book, is there any book for CoC, doesn't have to be 7th edition, that contain hunger mechanic? harunmushod
Basic Roleplaying Universal Game Engine (2023) the parent system for CoC and Runequest has a mechanic for hunger, thirst, heat and cold on p146. After a number of says equal to 1/2 CON (1/10th CON in CoC 7e terms) the character has to make a Stamina roll before doing anything physical. If failed, the action cost 1hp. After 1/5 CON days (in CoC 7e) those rolls are hard and apply to mental actions too. There's some extra nuance in the BRP rules, but that's the basics.
hasevir
On a slight tangent, the dreamworld might look very much like glorantha... while the easier extraordinary/hard and critical successes, well, your inherent dreaming ability works in mysterious ways. Going to sleep and waking up the next morning seemingly years later and immediately want a drum to drum out Zoo-Rak ZoRan (2 slow and a almost double deat). hile suddenly having acquired all kinds of sneaking and baseball bat skills 😄 ..yes indeed a lead chainmail and lead platemail. What is so hard to understand? To a bewildered smith in Arkham. Oh and a rather gigantic sledgehammer also of Na met.. sry lead, please. Mike M
In Cthulhu - use CON rolls to determine ability to engage in strenuous activity. If failed, impose penalty die to skill roll. If failed again (slightly later), then two penalty dice. Longer period, change this to Hard CON, then Extreme CON. After two failures (not matter the difficulty), then the task becomes impossible and First Aid/Medicine is probably required. The main question becomes, does this help and push forward the story or simply act to stop players doing anything? If the latter, I would consider reworking so it fits the former.
