Trolls have eyes, even the styganthropus vorax ie old skool trolls that actually came from hell vs surface weak sauce uz variety (sun really is baad, mkay?). And not terribly different from sacrificing bulls/pow to ancestors. Now making the correct kind of offspring can be tricky as 50% are human and 50% herdman in human-herdman.. umm.. bestiality. Luckily im sure there are similar heroquests as the blue boar but hunting herdmen. In short: hunt & kill, peaceful cut and get some magical powers and ...well..- ahem.. the ability to father superior piglets on a sow. Normal mostali are about as exciting as a industrial robot. Standing motionless in a corner until there is a task, then they do the task and nothing but it. Im sure they share their matrixes and magic point stores. So the great machine would have millions and millions of magic points to cast those 100+ point spells to stabilize each and every wall, door, beaker and tool for 20 years times every 10 points for another multiplier of 1024. 20 million years considered long enough to be worth it? 20 billion years? 1 pow? what a laughably low cost!

Sorcerers are still a bit half-done, without familliars to allow them to become multibody hive beings and practically wyterish themselves. Thus so far the sorcrers are only halfway there to their fully operational (and almost invincible) battlestation status. Even scarier as one can choose to make a lot of herdmen familliars pretending to be ordinary humans. By Arkat send them to cults as spies and to acquire exploitable access to resources.

YGMV...but trollcults do kinda look down on trollkin and rarely allow one to join a real (troll!) cult. In that sense a human cult is oft easier.
