"and ended up talking about Pendragon with Regis Pannier"

heh -- old player in my Parisian campaign, introduced him to RuneQuest back in the day ...

Nice to know he's still at it !!! B)

He also used to be a player in our group 🙂
He's had the bad idea of moving to your area; I'm not sure he's still playing RQ these days.

I imagine that Uz view scorpionmen in a similar way that beastmen view broo

or in the same way that humans view broo: fellow mammals-- but Chaos-tainted!

It's more of an indirect connection via the Darkness rune, I would imagine?

Yes IMG there is a clear connection between insects (& spiders) and the Darkness rune. Timinits and Scorpionmen are an exception though.

On the other hand, the jiangshi is at least rooted in older Chinese ideas of a dualistic soul: an ethereal soul called a hun that leaves the body after death and a corporeal soul called the po that remains in the body. This idea dates back possibly as far as the 6th century BC. The idea that you have to appease your ancestors with sacrifice or else they'll come back as "hungry ghosts" stems from this idea that there is a soul that remains behind even when the body has died.

Yes but I don't picture the hungry ghosts as being hopping vampires either.

This is why I like the way that Revolution D100 does skills. You have a kill of Perform and then Traits of Act, Feign Death or Voice Mimicry, Stealth could have Traits of Shadowing, Hide in Plain Sight, Move in Cover and so on. It saves having a really long skills list on a character sheet as well.

We could walk the Revolution D100 path and have Foil, Shadowing, etc. be +30% bonuses to the relevant RQ:G skills when they are used in this particular way.

It's not like it's not there - the Yellow Elves to the south, the monsters and Hsunchen in the Shangshang, and Ignorance to the north. There's definitely stuff to play with, but it needs attention, and personally, I think the focus on isolation is to Kralorela's detriment.

It depends on how you run your Kralorelan game... Obviously if you're in a central province it will all be Kralori-centred, but the closer you get to the margin*, the more important these barbarian intrusions will become. It feels very authentic to me. My main beef is not about Kralorela per se, but about her depiction as fantasy Míng/Qīng China, which completely clashes with the Bronze Age feel of the rest of the Lozenge.

*a very Chinese concept BTW in terms of adventuring

  7. I have put together a roster of possible Darktongue syllables based on the proper nouns from the published material (mostly Trollpak and the Guide). I can publish it on my blog should anybody be interested.

Do not forget that, as with any other linguistic material from Gloranthan canon, this is all as "heard by Greg during his explorations of Glorantha and approximated to an American English ear". It's not the real McCoy.

Have you tried just going to View > Page Display > Single Page View in Adobe Acrobat to adjust that?  Mine comes up as the double page view too, but easy to change.  And Print seems to come out fine as single pages.

Weird.... When I try that the option to change the page display to Single Page is greyed out 😞

And then there's another gap of 27 years.  Part of that is probably the invasion of Kralorela but I find it difficult to imagine that this took 27 years.

Why's that? It took the Manchus 65 years to conquer China.
