There is NOWHERE near the amount of rape in Glorantha as there was/is in the real world.

The same can probably be said about prostitution...

In the RW, prostitution has always been present, everywhere. I recall that by law prostitutes couldn't be younger than 13 (!) in 19th century London.
In Imperial China, judges routinely sentenced women to prostitution in State-run brothels.
In Islamic countries, men very conveniently engage in 'temporary' marriage with female prostitutes.
    In mediaeval Europe:
“The Church took a crucial step towards clearing the way to legalizing prostitution when theologians agreed that harlots did deserve to be paid for their work. As a result, the Church accepted their alms and even contemplated imposing tithes on their earnings. This last issue took longer to be implemented, since discussions about the tithes were fraught with disagreements.”

We should refrain from applying a 21st century mindset to a Bronze Age world...

Blade venom is pretty widely considered to be a power-gamed mistake by the writers (Greg hates it) and it got abused HORRIBLY in the old Chaosium house games. Healing potions, anti-venom are just fine though.

Well, it's also pretty expensive to get trained in it.

BTW, is the Deluxe rule set worth it. I got 1st and 5th Editions of T&T, and the system didn't change much over those years. Does the Deluxe rules add much?

The Deluxe ruleset is based upon the 7th edition of T&T so it is definitely worth it if you only own the 5th edition because there were already several improvements between the 5th and the 7th edition.

  4. Talents are basically skills. You roll 2D6, add the relevant attribute + your talent score [which is usually in the area of +1 to +6] against a set difficulty level [20, 25, 30, 35...]. If the result is larger than or equal to the difficulty level, you succeed; if it's smaller, you fail. Really simple.

Now in standard T&T you get 1 Talent per level. What I do in my games is that I allow many more Talents at start, about half a dozen. By toning down the combat element and by emphasising the use of Talents, I make T&T closer to other task resolution-based games. It works really well with kids and with players who are not big fans of combat-oriented adventures (e.g., my daughter).

    Things are done for a reason, an outcome, a resolution. This latter word can also mean the process, not just the end. So;

    Combat resolution

    Social resolution

And then let's call the game Resolution D100! :)

A "Defense Score" subtracted from all attempts to hit?  No "Dodge" skill?  (Granted, Dodge in some d100 variants can get a little unrealistic: what sort of contortionist can avoid three separate attacks?)

Defence is one of my favourite features from RQ2. As you recognise it yourself, Dodge is often unrealistic.

  7. I can't see why there's all this talk about "how to start playing in Glorantha". After all, we all did start at some point.

I successfully introduced both my kids to Glorantha, and it wasn't particularly difficult. I think the key is focusing on a given starting area, introducing the cool runes, and really insisting on all the required information to play the character.

Location D20 uses whatever the players roll, as they refer to their own hit locations when working  it out. If I have to work it out, I use the values in the supplement. Again, I don't care if 7 is an abdomen in the rules but a leg in the setting.

I generally agree with what @soltakss has written, except wrt Hit Locations for which I tend to always use the same tables (RQ2/RQ3); my thoughts here: http://2ndage.blogspot.com/2015/12/hit-locations-tables-and-their-evolution.html
