  1. “Queendom of Jab” is there and trails up in the hills will be perilous, fraught with danger will they not? Are the trails somewhat where the red dashed line is? Also where is this Low Temple on the map? Thanks!
  2. Imported war elephant/gomphotheres with barding from Teshnos. We'll need to create a caravan with elephants... likely travel by water is more economical but when seas are rough and or pirates are numerous, maybe a caravan from Teshnos to Pavis could work out? Water would be an issue for sure... hey why isn't there a camel tribe or is it one of the missing beast tribes? I happened on this from YOBoT 03, what animal has a long nose like an elephant sized like an antelope?
  3. The Flintnail tunnels under Old Pavis were in YOBoT vol.03 p.77.
  4. It's understood that the hunter doesn't catch the deer. (unless your a Lunar) I was curious if there might be a Hero Quest in which you fail to catch the deer but could still gain insight of some skill of another sort... has anyone done something like that or written stages for a "Foundchild Hunts the Silver Dear Hero Quest". I found the entry in the Entekosiad interesting: Ever since then the hunters of Kenstrata pray to their prey with terms of endearment, and often weep and cry before they go hunting.
  5. Entekosiad, noticed: They then burned the fields, so that the Long Noses and other beasts panicked and fled towards the pits. Where there ever elephants in Prax and if so when and where. If so where might a skeleton be found? What about tar pits are they in Prax, maybe close to the Bog?
  6. Its fabulous... question is the guy wearing the toga Pavis and which one is Flinnail? What happened to the big guy who might be 75m tall, the old walls were 25m IIRC? Some really good stuff in there. Who might rework it to RQ? You betcha. When we played in the 80's-90's anyone could get sorcery, divine magic (much less so as it was always a loss of power back then, not may runelords running around) and mostly spirit magic. With spirit magic stored in head not much free INT for sorcery so that was always a limiting factor and again matrix's costs were power as well. That was one reason we like the Heortlands who seemingly could use all 3 types of magic, at least back then. YGWV, dwarves use sorcery. It seemed like a good bit of divine magic was quite similar to sorcery. I think religious NPC's didn't like those using socrecry as it made their diving magic seem cheap. A higher intensity sorcery could outshine rune magic quite easily besides the time and MP cost when casting. This totally hits the spot for me, Dwarves use sorcery and LM should not, they are priests... that is unless they live on the Plateau and are Aeolians? With all the new back-forth, it seems the 3 old school types of magic are quite blended and are more available to PC's and NPC's based on the whim of the GM. If it make the game more fun and doesn't unbalance the play too much so the PC's are too powerful then why not. Dwarves are weird and should be special, all the time, sorcery is best for them, the more unknow and exotic the better. Jaja hit it right on the ole dwarven noggin... "Twentieth-fifth Projection of the Attendant Triangulation?" I'll continue with the idea that Barbarian initiates read write at a 15-20% similar to middle school level and civilized a bit higher, they have to in order to be able to do sorcery... Dwarves would be at an even higher level, YGMV. Or date humans, elves or trolls? We had the same understanding regarding spirit magic and that any dwarf PC was really an outcast. It was always funny when the PC tried to hit on girls in game and were rejected unless some heavy coin was part of the deal and even then the timer was exacting... (what can I say we were in high school) It should be a PC class, Dwarf Gigolo Ceramist, like a trickster but in some ways not... Do dwarven ceramists make good Uleria initiates?
  7. LOL, I went back and looked, I found it in Different-Worlds-21 p.30 from June 1982... I like this and then they'd be used to kick troll butt, well at least those that are not able to coexist... 100% agree, they are living beings... we tend/tended to use whatever version of RQ that fit... I am glad the game in general moved back towards the RQ3 direction and away from Hero Quest as the basic RQ system... for me its all good stuff!
  8. I already forgot where but I noted a source earlier in this thread. Its a cool quest and the PC's will gather the materials at some time... no dwarf in the party but maybe a pavis descendant will count as they were part dwarvish? The silver statue is interesting as well...
  9. So it is like Logan's Run and the dwarves that don't wish to die run or should I say waddle?! (hehe)
  10. Reading Drastic Resolutions Prax, p.43. Is there a detailed Hero Quest regarding this myth? I saw some silver deer entries but not the actual Foundchild myth at a glance and so my apologies if its been discussed in detail.
  11. Was looking for anything published that details dwarven areas, tunnels, cave complexes, etc. and what source. Thank you Sir
  12. Does every dwarven stronghold have dwarf fabrication machines, molds, etc? Who knows where these are located or is there only one set? Along the same lines there are only a few dwarvish enclaves actually described in detail that I am aware: Haunted Ruins - old Silver Statue area small but detailed enough. Flintnail in Pavis - new and detailed by Mr. T. RQA Dwarf Mine - minimal info, an oldie but a goodie. There was also the bit below Dwarf Knoll in The Shadows of Pavis. Does anyone have other detailed dwarf locations they know of?
  13. Spear, wasp stingers, what would the relation between the Sun Dome and Wasps Nest? I see it as cooperative, YGWV. Lodri's spear, could also have a different meaning, again YGWV...
  14. I didn't think it made sense either, (Just noted this from the House Campaign p.77. 2. THE WASP RIDERS - Will attack any light-cultists to kill, otherwise are normal brigands riding huge wasps. Wilms Church region) and so was asking what others thought. I assumed a troubled relation with the trolls was the best it could be but likely a centuries old feud existed... and was still active or at least simmering.
  15. Reading in the The Middle Sea Empire p.20 The Cutting Edge of the East... assume its the Red Sword?
  16. Related to literacy and the use of wasp paper, there must be some value trollkin with decent ability, who assuming if Nesretep could pen notes at the ability of the clip below from Into The Troll Realms they'd have, what a 35-40% read/write skill?
  17. It was from House Campaign p.77. Maybe Greg-someone decided that the Riders would be a nice antagonist for Yelmians? Generally I like the idea of trollkin flying on flies being hit by fire arrows, catching fire and crashing magnificently. Into The Toll Realms p.38 I'll stick to wasp riders being potential allies and paper suppliers. Was thinking there could be another nest in Sog's Ruins and they'd be highly territorial there but didn't think deeply on that yet... (another thread)
  18. It was based on if you have an INT of say 13-14 your base in read write would be 3-4%. Initiates get x1 so if they are 20 they'd get read write at 5+3~4 so they'd have a read write of say 7 or 8 now if they were 27 and an initiate they'd be at 15%. Speaking does have a correlation to your reading and writing ability based on what I am thinking, maybe at a much lessor degree but how many persons speaking at say 75-80% skill would not have used a good amount of wasp paper used writing their speeches or doing the LM entry dissertations? Was trying to correlate civilized and or barbarian initiate literacy levels with the use of wasp paper... sorry, trying to get back to the topic. Why would the wasp riders attack any light-cultists to kill? Is there a Yelm - Insect hatred for the past? I can see light versus dark but what does light and insect dislike about each other?
  19. From the House Campaign p.79: PHARAOH’S GAZETTE - SEA SEASON/1620 THE HOLY COUNTRY NEWS Late Edition PEASANT REBELLIONS IN HENDREIKI - Everywhere else in the province the peasants have taken up arms and murdered the new knights when they can. Where are these "new knights" from? Who are they, who leads them? King Rickard? I think some of this is where I got the notion that the Aeolians were suppressing the pagan Oranthi and stealing their idols when they discovered them. Backford at blue arrow.
  20. Just noted this from the House Campaign p.77. 2. THE WASP RIDERS - Will attack any light-cultists to kill, otherwise are normal brigands riding huge wasps. (Wilms Church region)
  21. If most people speak at least 30% I am guessing 15% would have you be able to read/write basic things or at least a good bit more than P-U-B but to each his own. Agree totally as to the location of discussions, P-U-B! Pub makes me think of wasp whiskey or something like that but a quote by someone who drank liquor infused with fermented wasps stated: “Let’s be frank. It stinks, it tastes bad, and it looks like crap. I can’t say that I would ever want to drink this stuff again. Sure, the benefits are things that I could get behind, but that’s not the problem here. Maybe if some honey were added to it or if a different kind of liquor were used, then it would be more palatable, but at this point I’ve lost all motivation to give it another try…”
  22. That old movie "Food of the Gods" was based on God Learner Alchemy wasn't it? This is meant to be. So the PC's goes to the Century Tree (RQA 06 p.04) and somehow, Hero Quest possibly, comes back with giant fruit tree seeds? Fading Lands, Ghost Ruins, Women of Seclusion, it all sounds exotic and tempting... giant beautiful Dryads? (off topic but interesting nevertheless...)
  23. Sounds like the paper goes to an Elvish PC who has quested and found a micromillimeter thin coating that is not only waterproof but also accepts charcoal ink very well... (seems like another nice scenario for LM Initiates and or Sages) However there is a large demand for the high quality water proof parchment that comes from Wasps Nest via Backford following the "Paper for Posterity" Hero Quest completed in 1604. (whatever that might develop into) It cannot be replicated though attempts have been made... Barbarians and Civilized Initiates in RQ3 all had a read write languages skill. Seems to me nearly every Orlanthi is literate? But they do as Backford has grown a new grove with poplars, aspen trees, and evergreens, especially appealing to the wasps. 15,432,358 sheets of paper per year... even half that do to waste is a nice amount. Who knows, Backford may actually be the site of a new giant wasps nest and giant bee hive... I suppose that the tree types the wasps like are already near their nest. Another supposition would be that the trolls near there sometime eat the wasps and their riders at the same time in some sort of exotic dish with the wasps honey? I assume there is a sort of ongoing feud between the trolls of Troll Wood, trolls will eat anything... or maybe there is a truce of sorts and they are allies? Question is would the Wasp Riders be more inclined to ally with say Sun Domers or Trolls?
  24. So what you are saying is that Dwarves are actually organic, bioengineered, then grown and finally mechanically enhanced when decomposition sets in? Wouldn't that be the worst sort of dwarven heresy?
