  1. I just hit everyone with arrows, darts, jabalines, rocks and anything they have at hand. That settles the usefulness of the shield.
  2. I find strange, but at the same time really common, that people are not aligned with their Runes. Runes should be vague, yes (that's such a libra thing) but also I feel like if a character is the brainy kid that stays inside to read and is afraid of heights it's much more likely to end up following a god that represents all that. Instead of ending up as part of the storm bull because the dual sword build really shines with Berserk. I agree with you here, the problem with +80% and mind control is only a problem if you consistently play the character one way and have runes that represent another. If the personality and the runes match, then you only feel bound by the +80% if you are doing something out of character. (The Humakti with 90% honor lying to get a discount should feel ashamed, maybe do it anyway but then complain about his honor while he chases the avatar)
  3. I guess this is the key. Part of the World or in it. My only grievance with the Passions is mechanical, people have to do a very important roll. Like swimming (30). They want to improve their chances rolling love for the sea (85). They roll 19 then roll swimming 80 and we all laugh while someone drowns.
  4. And here I was thinking that I have to limit skills if they are not tied to a passion. How do you have Olympic level skill if you don't care. How do you maintain/obtain the magic of the gods if your spend your time gambling what you stole from a grave. I'm not saying that I will ask for it but I would love to see a correlation between passion/obsession and those skills/traits that were obtained pushing the boundaries of human behavior. Is like "yes, I have a masters degree but like ... whatever I never cared about the topic"
  5. Like I said, I never had humakti's duel, my opinion is partial because I never had that issue before. But if it's a duel and guy1 can get help from his friends why not the other guy? Can he get shadow Walk? Seal wound or strike?
  6. Did not think of that, you are right, mps are less than 50 over here too.
  7. Totally agree. Doesn't sound like mgf. I lack the experience and never been in that situation, all I can offer is why I feel like it's not a be all end all spell. One humakty wirh Sword Trance and 15 mp on Trance and 30 mp on boost (to avoid Dismiss magic) vs a guy 100 mts away that throws sever spirit. By the time they meet (25 meters x 4 rounds) he is dead. Or a couple of points of multispell + Disruption. Demoralize cuts skills in half or shield+protection and hope he doesn't crit. Or climb a tree and throw acorns at him (ok, that last one sucks) "But humakty duels are not like that they buff for hours and start melee" well, then they sit down, count magic points and the one with more wins.
  8. So about what you can get in an hour of trekking an easy forest path by yourself.
  9. Food, foraging and cooking. Stopping for 2 hs, setting down, even for a short rest means gathering wood, setting a fire and looking for what's available around. Maybe you are lucky and can come up with a stew. Maybe you only have that elvish/danish rye bread everyone hates. If you have animals, they need to be fed too. Staying alive is busy work.
  10. Yes! But then we still have a Bob with 200 mp (is that what? 40 mp enchants?)* 15 rounds casting behind a bush while nobody does anything to him to suddlently jump into Battle not able to heal, parry, dispel, swim, evade, or solve a puzzle. Throw him a Beffudle and you are done. Maybe we never used it too much so we are missing the spell's true potential but "this doesn't look like anything to me".
  11. Sure, but then since he can't cast light we can say that Shadow Walk (or a bow) negates Sword Trance too
  12. I find that sword Trance uses a lot of magic points and time. "But SSoV" you probably say, "I can spend 200 mp on it" and if you spend 15 melee rounds on a 1 point spell everyone's next action is dispel magic. Our humakti uses moral and the party loves her. Yes.
  13. Oh I'm totally using this next time! Gear is weird, we are so used to magic items bing the reward that nobody wants to leave anything behind.
  14. For worship I make them spend magic points, those are hard to come by out in the wilds (mgwv) I translate 1 season=1 adventure and we do it in a language we all agree (it's like lotr, you don't see it all but there is a lot of walking from point a to b). A full recovery x adventure and maybe if we play several days, they may get a d6+bonus from a minor/random holy day. Wait!. What would be the problem with that? I kinda like that world. Sure there is no oath for every legal contract in a Terry Pratchett kind of way or a grand market in every bake and sale but I really like the idea of people going to upsala to get their blessings because they work, for real. The other option is "Well, sure everyone has non combat spells, she has oath and you have bless pregnancy but whenever you see someone pregnant think about that twice, I'll deduct thay baby blessing from your rune-allowance" Sounds grim.
  15. "Wraiths can be struck only by magic" those are the ones I used so far. And I guess werewolves.
  16. __"The adventurer touches their focus, concentrates on the spell, and begins their chant"_ p256 From there, maybe influenced from other games, we assumed that spirit magic has verbal, somatic and material(foci) components. So we use the "Do you have a free hand for that?" logic, all spirit spells require you to talk (no casting beffudle under the table) and gesticulate. If the spell is a buff on what you have on your hand, go for it, no +5. (Speeddart+arrow), you move the arrow around and say speeddart in spirit speech. If you have a sword and shield.... what hand do you use for heal? We don't spend too much time on foci but if you are carrying a body there is no Disruption attack for you, if you know fireblade probably you know how to make it work with a blade on your hands.
  17. What's the point of the success table to show success parry vs failed attack if you can decide not to parry? We have been using the severe one. (So far) Also we never thought about reorder parries, but also didn't know how they work until this thread.
  18. I see logic, not like we were doing it but It has simplicity and consistency, thank you, we are doing this from now on.
  19. I have a related question, how does this interact with skills over 100%? If someone with 120% to shield, matches 3 enemies wirh 80% to Spear attack. Is it correct to parry 100/80/60 and take 20% from the first one? Maybe 100/80/60 and take 20% from all of them? or even 120/100/80. I get the rules independently but I get confused when they interact.
  20. Looks like this was talked before, sorry for asking about the clarifying example but... if a character has already the 2d6 damage bonus, Strength does not take it to 3d6?
  21. They sheet is great, it's just that for a moment I was elated about the possibilities.
  22. I guess the math on the roll20 page is just wrong.
  23. The roll20 page shows that if my elf (dex 19+) uses Coordination, she gets to fire at sr 1/5/9, and adding mobility at 1/4/7/10. Looks like the +5 sr to load are affected by the spells. Is that correct? I love the idea of firing 4 arrows each melee round but it feels wrong, I haven't found this on the rule book, the q&a or here. Thanks! 😊
