  1. Awesome Don't be ridiculous :) Although they do have a large yellow wagon of peculiar design that they found in a Jrusteli ruin Yes!!!! A very old duck they call Uncle Albeak, and although he appears to be someone they are just looking after with surprising compassion (or maybe they enjoy his company or have some kind of obligation) he is of course the secret mastermind behind their business
  2. Taking a break from Vol. 03 (which is going very well) to work on the Rough Guide to Pavis City, which will be Vol 05 or 06 most likely
  3. Vol. 03, which contains a tonne of stuff from Beyond Pavis (in fact it's pretty much Beyond Pavis with go faster stripes) is still on track for a July release :)
  4. Thanks folks. That assists me to recall what little I 'knew' from chats with others about their ideas So it looks like 1622 (as I have put in my timeline at the start of Vol. 01) is good Or if I need the flexibility then 1623 maybe My biggest timing challenge is that back then, Greg was OK with me having Raus as an interim acting Governor for a few seasons after Sor-Eel gets kicked out, so I'm going to retain that even though its been officially discarded now. Too good an opportunity to have three very different Lunar Governors feature in the campaign Hmm, maybe I can write in the arrival of the new guy as part of the push around the Wedding: 'Just get it done' With Raus seen as way too conciliatory to the Pavis Cult (as well of course of never really having been acceptable in the position anyway, except short term) Boris von Encorth (sp?)
  5. Had a search through material and online, but can't find the canoninical date (or range of potential dates) for the attempted Wedding of Pavis. Instead of searching further I'm going back to editing articles for Vol. 03 and putting images into layout etc. Hoping in the meantime that helpful folk here on the group can point me at appropriate references or cut and paste snippets here. Thanks very much :) (Yes, I've reached that stage in basic layout of future volumes, where I'm putting everything in basic chronological order and looking to balance out gaps in the timeline of the campaign.) Just got a first draft cover back from Dario that is probably Vol. 5 or 6 and thought of an awesome book title for what will likely be 6 or 7 :)
  6. Some of them are going in my series. This is a gold mine of awesomeness that I am delighted to be allowed to investigate! Just this moment discovered the Dorasing smuggler's cult I was going to have to invent myself this week :)
  7. Fabian has just uploaded to Drivethrurpg the latest (probably final) version of Vol. 02 The previews haven't changed yet when I refresh the page, but the date of last upload suddenly says 'today' so it should be there as a new version for everyone who already has it... With the following change notes: FANTASTIC new colored geographical map of the Real City by artist Roy Duffy Corrections & slight revisions to the Real Inn article Minor revisions to the Real City article Added borders to a few images to make 'em look more zippy! :) Handful of other corrections/alterations Plus a new Handout PDF: printable game-aid map of the series' larger version of the Big Rubble, for Players to scribble all over

  9. Yeh, its very awesome that the Cults book series is due out soon, and if a version of Barntar is out before Vol. 03 is released (July) then I will cheerfully delete my version. But is also possible that Barntar might be in a later book and not be seen for some months after that date. So I'm going to put an interim shortform (single column) version in the County article since its the most commonly worshipped deity for males in Pavis County
  10. Hi all. I need to put a shortform Barntar Cult in the Pavis County section of the next book in the P&BRC series. Has anyone created such a thing that they would be happy to donate? Thought I'd ask before I sit down to write it
  11. These animals are champion-level hysterical!! :) If there's any more traction though, they deserve their own Weird Praxian Animals thread
  12. I know I've said it before, but I I'm sure I will keep doing so from time to time The time taken to recreate the series has proved staggeringly way beyond what I imagined it would take to get it all out again. My gratitude for collaborators is beyond words. There would be no series without you folks!! Just now I opened my messages up and received a fantastic work in progress-sample from one volunteer/collaborator and a basic formatted article from another Meaning I can crack on with the revisions, art-direction/editing and layout, and continue to see Vol. 03 taking shape On that note, if anyone following this thread has the passing thought: "Hmm, I could do a couple of hours of some basic proofing or stats or something' so as to get my name in the credits of one of these fine books."... Please drop me a line Every little bit helps. I'm currently working on Vols. 03-05 simultaneously as they are all connected and so there is huge amounts of stuff I'd love a spot of help with (Those who have already offered, I'm at the point of being able to send more bits out in the next few days.)
  13. Yay :) Yes, these are the standard riding zebras. The war zebras are of course a different story! :)
  14. Only about 20% of Vol. 03 is fully finished (layout, editing & illustrations), but as of a couple of days ago now has 90% of the raw articles in, sufficiently for me to now know the order and focus. So I thought I'd finalise the cover text today, as a break (The previous cover shown for Vol. 03 will now be Vol. 04)
  15. Delighted to have just today found my old maps (pretty decent) of Raus Town, and the gazetteer too. This will very likely be in Vol. 03 of the Companion (estimated release date of July)
  16. On another issue, I am about to write-up a simple version of Raus's animist ancestor worship system for the P&BRC series (from my existing basic notes), and know for certain that somebody somewhere must already have done this, and wonder if such a person is on this discussion group?
  17. My first ever RQ character got... ...within our first half-hour of gaming here (after I had spent at least that long rolling him up and creating a basic backstory). Leaving me with only one other option as a character to play - Stifftail the leader of the Newtling boaters. He was very useful in exploring the caves, and assistance in exploring underground waterways and providing knowledge on newtlings. Oh yes, and I remember the GM introduced him to the party who were still exploring the cave entries by saying something like: 'The leader of your newtling rafters runs up to you with his trident, rather out of breath: "Apologies fine sirs. It appears that enemy newtlings just killed all of my comrades and I am indeed the only survivor. I hope we can negotiate only a partial refund for rafting services." He also miraculously went on to survive the whole campaign that extended into Pavis and beyond - I still remember my stated intent every time the party hit combat: "I dive for nearest cover". (Not as useless as he might sound - he became an excellent scout, and renowned skirmisher with aimed shots to the head.)
  18. I imagine people might pray there when problems in their life are rock bottom bad, when their luck is so goddam awful, to ask for a twist of fate in their favor. Or if they are facing some crucial challenge that seems insurmountable In the same way that Eurmal can be bonded to an Orlanthi and therefore not constantly fk up the life of that Orlanthi and their companions/clan, such a prayer by an initiated Lightbringer would not automatically lead to worse luck or good luck and a terrible consequence I can see that asking for revenge against someone or for someone to have badluck would backfire, but asking for help with surprising good luck maybe not? Basically I am wondering what general use would there be of such a shrine Maybe you can appease Trickster by playing a clever trick on someone as a sacrifice for your request
  19. Hi Folks Is Korlmar the White a canon high healer in Horn Gate? I thought (she?) was, but can only find references on Jane Williams Glorantha pages Am reconstructing together Holiday Glorantha: Horn Gate and wondering about such details I seem to recall reading about the healers being evicted from Pavis and later also leaving Horn Gate, but can't find any references BOOKS PROGRESS There is so much material that the next book will probably just be Pavis County (with a first chapter on Pavis, and a last chapter of scenarios) [circa 1620] Followed by a River of Cradles/Prax volume. And also with Pavis and adventure chapters [circa 1621 - yes a synchrony of the year and vol focus with certain major historic events!]
  20. Thanks for that. Not sure where I picked up that idea from, but yes maybe it was the Rune Levels. Good to be able to call on the knowledgeable :)
  21. I seem to recall learning that in RQG only about 10% of people are full initiates or higher in a cult of any kind. Is that correct? Those with the first two books will likely have seen that I subverted/adapted this idea for city gods in general (and Pavis in particular), creating a low level of initiation to replace communal worship for most people. The in-game logic being that duties are minimal, and social advantages very worthwhile, for just sacrificing at major ceremonies. A big win for the city god in terms of what they gain from these sacrifices, and minimal requirements to give back. (Since the social advantages are organised by the worshippers themselves, its really just a few specialist spells that the city god provides. Anyway in general I'm wanting to stay with the new canon for Glorantha in general (with the hungry city gods being an exception), and am just seeking a confirmation on the %s. On a distantly related note, is there a list of named major cities in the EWF in which a criminal cult similar to the Peaky Blinders may have arisen? I would like to add a named origin city to a cult that ended up in Pavis City and began to be worshipped again (albeit by only a small group and a handful of individuals) once Thieves Town was founded Cheers
  22. MAP-MAKERS? We have a bunch of superstars supporting me with various elements of getting the series back out there, which critically supports my very long hours of writing and editing :) One wonderful fellow is working on some very artistic maps that are really awesome, and so I don't want to ask him to take time off for this different (simpler) map task Simon Phipp was awesome in letting me use his map of New Pavis and adapt his map of the Big Rubble for the new series, and I am just now thinking that I would love the large Rubble map to be even more detailed, like a proper illustration Does anyone out there have decent with map-making software (that could produce a map I can publish in the zines), or is a dab hand at sketching (since even a cool freehand map would suit the tone)? And willing to draw me up a map of the Rubble that is a more 'illustration' version of the one in Vol. 02? I can add all names and numbers in Photoshop so only the art is needed Obviously you'd be entitled to a free pdf version of any zine it was in (the first two) and if you already have those, then a free version of the next two instead Anyway, love to see a sample of ideas if anyone is able and willing to help out this way :) Even something like the attached would be wonderful. Bearing in mind that the Big Rubble in my Glorantha is a far larger scale and slightly elongated, so individual elements would be smaller and further apart
  23. Puzzle Canal? I had a short piece and map somewhere about the Puzzle Canal. I'm pretty sure I have found literally everything else from the original series, but can't find that, so it must have been an extra piece or something Anyone of you budding archivists have a copy of my short Puzzle Canal piece? I would love to use it as the basis of a much larger new adventure that is pivotal to the campaign
