  1. Spirit magic is quite different in RQ:G- you’re not learning a spell, you are making a connection with a spirit that you then use to impact the material world (see https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com/magic-systems-i/ ). That’s why your CHA is the limit- you can only befriend so many spirits. And I find it perfectly reasonable that the more spirit helpers you have hanging around, the less you can concentrate on casting sorcerous spells (which involves the direct manipulation of runes, as opposed to divine magic where you are channeling the power of your god). Now, it you’re a sorcerer and want to cast lots of spirit magic, you do it the right way- dominate a bunch of spirits that know spirit magic and shove them in binding to do your bidding on command.
  2. The page count (and number of cults) has significantly increased from the Cults preview volumes at the time the Red Book was published until now; it’s no surprise there are new spells to match. The only question is whether there will be a second edition of The Red Book once the Cults volumes are done that contains all the new spells- and whether those of us who bought the PDF will be able to download the updated version for free, or have buy a new one like for the updated Sourcebook.
  3. I don’t see a conflict- if someone can strike you during the 3 SR it takes you to stand up, you can’t parry or dodge. If it takes them longer, you can (see also that exact example in the Cormac saga excerpt). Looking through the RQ 1,2,3 and G rules, that paragraph in RQ3 page 47 on performing a non combat action was the only one I could find that explicitly referenced standing up. There’s also an example on page 47 of Cormac standing up and drawing his hatchet which only takes 3 SR for both actions. Overall, I like @DreadDomain’s suggestion- it takes 3 SR (5 in RQ 2/G) to stand up if you do it quickly but can’t defend, or a full round to do cautiously while being able to dodge or parry.

    Fate of Delecti

Not to worry, Argrath will just Illuminate all of his Humakti.
  5. Anything added to the Cults books after it was published.
  6. As for Lantern, I’ve always house ruled that it lasts for an hour in order to make it a more useful alternative to Light.
  7. Playing a shaman, I’m selfishly awaiting the Spirit volume. Very much looking forward to Spirit Societies being elabourated.

    Fate of Delecti

I always had the same thought about Brangbane- seems like a Hero or even tough Rune-Level PCs should be able to put an end to his menace for good.
  9. Clearly the Arming of Orlanth is a Heroic ability that lets you grow additional arms, so that you can wield all four magical weapons at once.
  10. Lucky Shaman, their spirit can rejoin their healed body without needing to spend POW. You might rule it takes at least 1 permanent POW. Sure- although I'd rule the rune points used in either Heal Body are Heal Wound are permanently lost.
  11. A tool by @Diana Probst for quickly calculating derived scores and skill modifiers from attributes- https://www.rqgheroes.hostedpi.com/utilities/ (note- may not be a permanent URL). Note that this is more intended to be a live character sheet for use in play- you can add buffs, make rolls, track HP, etc. There's a live version you can try out here https://platypus.pepperfish.net/~vivek/glorantha/glorantha-character.html?CHAR-NAME - data is saved locally in your browser by CHAR-NAME.
  12. There's also the set of tools at https://basicroleplaying.net/rqg/ - RuneQuest Adversaries [ v0.7b ] – An adversaries, enemies, rivals, and foes generator for RuneQuest. Gloranthan Weather & Calendar [ v1.0b ] – Quick generation of a calendar and weather for the various Gloranthan homelands GoonQuest III: Goons in Glorantha [ v1.0b ] – A lightweight NPC Generator based on an updated version of Loren Miller's GoonQuest.
  13. Just to repeat an earlier note, the pregens both start with high stats (which boost all skills thanks to skill modifiers), and were also created by people familiar with the system who knew which skills to boost. With the exception of a few things like Brother Monkey, they can all be created by the rules- @PhilHibbs has a great thread where he goes through them one by one, even loading them into his excellent Google character sheet for completeness.
  14. That would be fabulous- in addition to the Family History generator, there are a few others I've seen like this one page character sheet. The closest existing repository is arguable the collection of character sheets on the fandom wiki- https://runequest-glorantha.fandom.com/wiki/Character_Sheets_and_Forms .
  15. That seems to be contradicted by both the core rules- "The physical attack is resolved normally, but opposed by the spirit’s Spirit Combat skill." and the Well clarification- "The player rolls the adventurers relevant weapon ability (with augments, magical bonuses, etc) and checks the result using that score for critical, special, success, fail, miss, fumble. If the adventurers weapon ability or the spirit’s Spirit Combat score is over 100%, reductions occur as normal." (bold added for emphasis)
  16. For those comparing, the 2 new abilities in addition to the original 6 are: Overcome Runes or Passions Embrace Runic Opposites
  17. Interestingly the 2019-2021 Chaosium Leatherettes look much more like the Mongoose book than the RQ Classic and Glorantha Sourcebook Leatherettes.
  18. As a simple fix, you could house rule this only applies to physical targets, not spirits. This works in physical combat, where even a parried blow can smash through, but not in spirit combat where if you both succeed, no damage is done. There's no penalty to multiple spirit combat defence rolls, unlike parries, so better to reduce their skill than try twice at a lower chance (e.g. 120% vs 80% becomes 100 vs 60, much better than 2x 60 vs 80).
  19. Which is fitting, since both cost Rune points (assuming your God would be familiar with the subject of the Lie. Of course, impacted people wouldn't have any reason to doubt the Lie themselves and cast Divination, and if you use it for an immediate benefit like MPs revealing the truth wouldn't strip that benefit.
  20. This is the leather-bound Mongoose RQ2 volume which may be causing the confusion- And here's the RQ:G Leatherette-
  21. How are they doing 20 points per hit? Truesword on a Broadsword does 1d8+1 damage to a spirit; normal weapon damage, damage bonus, and spirit magic bonuses like Bladesharp do not apply. See https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com/home/catalogue/publishers/chaosium/runequest-roleplaying-in-glorantha/cha4028-runequest-roleplaying-in-glorantha-qa-by-chapter/cha4028-runequest-roleplaying-in-glorantha-chapter-16-spirits-the-spirit-world/ for details. Also make sure you’re comparing successes on the Spirit Combat table- if the Humakti succeeds on their attack roll but the spirit succeeds on their spirit combat roll, no damage is done.
  22. Turns out I guessed wrong- only a single mention of Nysalor as the Illuminator, no other details on Illumination.
  23. There’s a 6 point list in Cults of Terror, Cults Compendium, and Dorastor: Land of Doom. I’m guessing the 8 point list will be coming next week in the Mythology book, based on @David Scott’s last comment.
  24. Understood, it’s a quick and dirty hack, not a true replacement (I just roll the D20 with the D100). But it’s all about hitting that left leg 😉
  25. One trick you can use to skip rolling for hit location- use the percentage dice result instead. Take the ones die, and add 0 if the tens die is even and 10 if not. So a roll of 23 would hit location 3, 51 would hit 11, and 70 would hit 20.
