  1. Before you shell out cash, check out the Call of Cthulhu Creature Generator.  It won't provide skills or spells, but it does generate deity stats, including for Bast.

    Bast #1 STR 48 CON 25 SIZ 12 INT 35 POW 30 DEX 45 APP 21 Move 40 HP 19 db +3D6

You could use the CoC Creature Generator to get the stats, then use the RQ6 Encounter Generator to generate skill % and spell %.

All you'll need to do is get a free account, then you can make templates and use them to generate characters.

  2. I've managed to get a character sheet online that is fillable. Not sure how it looks when printed out, and am still working on it, but here's what I've got so far.

    http://www.johnprime.com/wizard_quest/brp/brp_fantasy_cs.php

If you fill out the form, then push the submit button, it will go through and display your entries as text. I need to do some more coding on the page to change any of the fields which have not been filled out to transparent after you have submitted the form, but haven't gotten to that yet. Also, I need to do some test prints to see how it looks when printed.

  3. I've uploaded a shorter version of my character creation document which just contains the professions I use in my fantasy game and a little bit of information on the spell casting system I'm using.

The file is in the downloads section under the Fantasy/Historic section called Professions 1

  4. I had used Roll20 a while ago for one of my games as wasn't too impressed with it after I finally got a chance to use it. On the surface, it does look pretty impressive, but I agree with Rosen about RPTools. I have glanced a little at Fantasy Grounds as well, but have looked more heavily into RPTools and personally like that one better!

  5. I've based all my pricing, including what the players get paid from the real world. Yes, I know the prices of items in our world would be different due to the various manufacturing abilities of the modern world, but by going with a real world pricing model, the players have a better grasp of whether the merchant is charging to much or if they are getting paid to little for a job. Course they can be suspicious if the pay for a job seems to high for what they're asked to do as well!

Obviously the person that wants to hire them isn't telling them everything!

But this way, when a merchant says a room is 100 silver pieces per night, they know that the equivalent is $1000 per night, and if the place looks like a dump, he's way overcharging.

  6. I run a high magic campaign and I use the Spell Knowledge skill from Classic Fantasy for the only skill that is needed to cast spells, plus whatever the magic point cost is. I really didn't like the basic spells in the book so I went with the spell list from Pathfinder and assigned a power point level of 1 for any spells that don't cause damage and 3 points for those that cause damage or heal damage.

So far it's worked well for my campaign. My one caveat is make sure that you are consistant with your game system rulings and whatever you allow the players to do, allow the NPCs to do as well.

  7. The edge system I made for Legend has rules for Barbarian Rage, and Sneak Attacks.  There are a bunch of other converted feats too, along with common magic spells, and heroic abilities.  Edges are basically minor powers that are skill based.  They are roughly equivalent to a common magic spell with a magnitude of one or two, and can be upgraded to a more powerful version.  Here is the Rage and Sneak Attack Edges.

    Rage

A Combat Style incorporating a Melee Weapon or Unarmed 50%

    Self

In combat the character is able to throw himself into a mindless rage, smiting his foes with increased ferocity. While under the effects of this edge the character's Damage Bonus is increased by one step (so a 1D2 becomes a 1D4). Additionally as the character is focused solely on the offense he may not Evade or Parry while raging.

This edge may be taken a second time when the character reaches 100% or more in their relevant skill. While under the effects of this edge the character's Damage Bonus is increased by two steps (so a 1D2 becomes a 1D6). Additionally as the character is focused solely on the offense he may not Evade or Parry while raging. This upgrade costs five advancement points.

    Backstabber

    Stealth 50%

    Self, Instant

The character is a master of underhanded and sneaky tactics. When attacking with surprise the character increases the damage die of the weapon by one increment. So a dagger from behind will deal 1D6+1 damage rather than 1D4+1 damage.

This edge may be taken a second time when the character reaches 100% in their Stealth Skill. When attacking with surprise the character increases the damage die of the weapon by two increments. So a dagger from behind will deal 1D8+1 damage rather than 1D4+1 damage. This upgrade costs five advancement points.

I like your take on those Feats! Very good way to add damage, without seeming to be overpowering.

  8. It is sad that this has happened. Lots of famous people have issues in their lives that I would not want to have in my life! Substance abuse is one of the most common, I'm sure some of their problems are from the pressure of constantly having the paparazzi hounding them!

  9. My problem isn't so much locating a copy as finding folks to play with.  In my area, game stores host D&D, Pathfinder Society is actively recruiting at conventions, but D100 enthusiasts are as elusive as CoC cultists.  I know they're out there because someone is buying the (slim selection of) product at my FLGS, but they don't put up recruiting fliers or make their presence known.  RQ6 may indeed be the best fantasy game ever, but nobody here is beating the drum for it.  :(

"I cast my Mega-Market Saturation spell!"

I think most of us can agree with you seneschal. There aren't many D100 enthusiasts out there. But slowly more are seeing the appeal of the classless/leveless system that D100 is!

Speaking of which, nice to see you here Shane!

  10. My campaign world is very much affected by the Elfquest comic and game rules. I modified them a long time ago, but elves are the only ones with psychic powers. While I never really used the game rules completely, they allowed me to modify the RQ rules to include some of the Elfquest world to my world!

  11. I also like PDFs if they're created as text and not images. That way, I can grab portions of the text to use in my own documents. For instance, I've written up a character creation document for my fantasy BRP game and I used the BGB as the basis for my document. Also allowed me to grab certain sections without having to re-type them!

  12. I usually get both if they are available. I prefer reading the hardcopy at home, but when I go somewhere else to game, if I can get a PDF copy as well, then I can access it from a laptop or tablet and not have to lug the hardcopy around with me!
