  2. Found the following entry in this forum:

Guide to Glorantha, Vol. I, p.38:

    Quote

They use a simple plow, little more than a long, sharpened, fire-hardened stick (and blessed by Lodril), pulled by a pair of oxen.

The term 'Lod-plow' is not mentioned explicitly in the Guide to Glorantha, but the connection made in above comment seems to make sense.

So 'Lod' in Lod-plow is a name (short for Lodril)?

  3. Currently I'm working through Jalk's Book in King of Sartar (2nd edition).

On p. 169 the following sentence appears:

    Quote

Later, some of the Elmal clans adopted lowland ways because they were more effective, such as when they started using the heavier Lod‐plow, or began weaving gold threads into their tapestries.

I have not the slightest idea, what a Lod-plow might be (except for being a kind of plow more efficient than previously used types).

So if anybody could give any hint or description, I would be very grateful.

I think the simplest answer is likely to be, what did they call them in the German edition of RQG: https://shop.uhrwerk-verlag.de/uhrwerk-rollenspiele/runequest/1551/runequest-rollenspiel-in-glorantha-pdf?number=UWV8200PDF

Just in case you do not own the German edition of RQG: the translation of God Learner used is 'Gottlerner'.

So that's the same translation, that has been used in the former translation of RQ3. But see Jörg's comment about this translation nearly 5 years ago:

I'm also surprised that you've not gone with simultaneous book and PDF release as I got the impression that was the new Chaosium policy. Not that I'm complaining, mind. Which can we expect in future: PDF first or PDF with book?

    ...

My understanding so far was, that simultaneous release of book and PDF will only happen for boxes like the RuneQuest Starter Set, but I may be wrong ...

Sorry to necro this thread but, it ses like the best place to ask. I remember seeing a post somewhere that showed a preview of the physical work from which the above posted art by Agatha Pithié is taken. I think it looked like a huge scroll of watercolor art.

You can clearly see how the three images from the Storm Age are all cut from the same source image.

That sort of work is almost exactly what I imagine a LM sage trying to decipher from time to time. Mythic imagery as much as actual text.

I would do basically ANYTHING to be able to get a poster of the wonderful art Agatha Pithié has created to bring the Gods to life.

I guess, you mean this one:

If you have the big hex map from the original edition of Griffin Mountain, you can find Vivamort’s Castle at hex 4502 on the Elder Wilds side of the map.  If you only have the PoD edition, look at the map on page 89.  In the upper right corner is the label Er’oring Wilds.  If you look north from the first “i”, you’ll see a zig zag in the river.  That’s where it is.  Supposed to be a big and old treasure there from Vivamort’s salad days as a young vampire, or perhaps even the time before he made his deal with the Devil.  Maybe there are more details in the “Tower of Night” campaign supplement promised in RQ3’s Lords of Terror?

Details on Vivamort’s history are a bit tough to come by.  Not as bad as Shanassee, but still less than one might hope.  Why is the castle there in the depths of hardcore Aldryami territory?  Is it still guarded by one of Vivamort’s undying lieutenants?  Does he ever stop by from Dorastor to visit?  Is it the source of the vampires plaguing Gork’s Hills to the west?

So few details; so much license for GMs to go nuts.  Why Griffin Mountain remains one of the definitive game supplements in the hobby.

Is someone able to locate where the nice colored Lunar invasion maps with arrows and years are for the Heorltland?

Not so much about Heortland, to tell the truth.
But anyway, this is from Wyrms Footnotes #15.

Ants are intentionally omitted otherwise the bestiary would be a multi-volume purchase full of stuff that's of no use for adventures.

If you want giant ants, they are in the Gateway Bestiary, page 5, there' also an example of one in Griffin Mountain. The Gateway Bestiary also has rules for insect hive minds, soldier and worker ants.

You can find the contents of all the available bestiaries here:

    Not available

As far as I know, the Gloranthan Bestiary (AH85711) is not available similar to the Creatures Book in the RuneQuest Deluxe Edition (AH857), or do I miss something here?

Also, in addition to the Creatures from Book 4 (Creatures) Book 5 (Glorantha Book) lists Glorantha specific Chaos Creatures and Elder Races (without stats except for Dragonewts).

    Hi there,

Is there an ETA on updated PDFs on the Chaosium website please?

I downloaded them today but they don't appear to have the corrections that were acknowledged some months ago. For example, the Corrections PDF states:

    image.png.ffc0aba0c056a3ea88b9358ffd0e2060.png

but the current PDF shows otherwise...

    Thanks

Currently the (more or less) official answer to this question is

When this will happen, is not clear.
But the corrected map is available already in the Well of Daliath.

Isn't Sorana Tor just another name/title of the Queen of Dragon Pass? See KoS p.228: "If we accept the entry about Halifitoor, then we also have the name or, more likely, another title, of Argrath’s wife: Sorana Tor. Thus we can conclude that Inkarne Long-lived, Queen of Holay, Feathered Horse Queen, Sorana Tor, was the wife of Argrath."

    Good point.

This is what is in the Bits and Mortar download. No sign of any "Map Pack".

That's the PDF download area, if you buy directly from the Chaosium site (yes, I bought two boxes):

So obviously the Map_Pack zip file is missing in the Bits and Mortar download. No idea, if this is intentional or something missing ...

Sorry to bump this thread, but same question. I've just re-downloaded the Starter Set files from Bits and Mortars today, and the PDFs have individual file dates of 16th November 2021. It would be good to have updated versions.

Also: in the physical box set, the maps come at big size and excellent resolution. In the Book 2 PDF, the Northern Sartar and Jonstown area maps are split across two pages, which is less good for showing to players online. It's also much lower resolution than the full-size print versions. Would it be possible to have these maps added as separate single-page PDFs (at higher resolution) into the file set?

To be honest, I can merge the pages myself in a PDF editor, but the resolution really isn't very good.

    ...

In my Starter Set download the Northern Sartar map is also available as stand-alone PDF file in the Map Pack ...
The Jonstown area map at the end of Book 2 is just a zoom-in on this map.

But I'm not sure, if this is the resolution, you're looking for ...

There was some errata back in the day regarding the Metals of Acos (p. 13), as far as I know. However, at least the v1.01 (Jan 2022) PDF I downloaded yesterday still has some errors, IMHO. In the illustrations, "lo-metal" is mentioned twice and there is no "ur-metal" at all. I suspect, the metals I've circled in the attached image, the orange-brown ones, are in fact bronze, i.e. hu-metal, and the sword isn't bronze/hu-metal but iron/ur-metal instead. At least that's how I'm interpreting the illustrations. If this is in fact a correct interpretation, then note this for future errata.

    metals.png

I don't think so. According to the text description Lo-metal is the metal of Lodril, and its red in color, like fire. So this description matches perfectly the display of Lo-metal, that's circled in the illustration. And according to the text description Hu-metal is a cross between Gata’s and Zrethus’, i.e. between Ga-metal (copper) and Ze-metal (tin). The color of the Hu-metal sword matches this description from my point of view.

But you're right, Lo-metal appears two times in this illustration, but I'm more inclined to say the circlet in the lower right corner is in fact Ul-metal (silver), which according to the text description is white in color, whereas the illustration titled Ul-metal is Ur-metal (Iron) in fact.

But the coins displayed in the illustration (if these are coins in all cases) again do not match these descriptions ...

What are you looking for in particular to be comfortable running over there?

    • The RuneQuest Quickstart (similar to the Call of Cthulhu Quickstart)
    • The RuneQuest Starter Set including
      • Pregen Character Sheets
      • prepared NPC sheets for all NPCs from the included adventures (grouped by adventures)
      • Tokens for the Pregen Characters and all NPCs (the latter grouped by adventures)
      • VTT maps for the included adventures
      • Spell descriptions for Pregen Character Rune and Spirit magic
      • Rule and adventure descriptions in the Journal part
    • A Compendium for the RuneQuest:Roleplaying in Glorantha rules
    • A Compendium for the RuneQuest:Roleplaying in Glorantha occupations
    • A Compendium for the RuneQuest:Roleplaying in Glorantha cults
    • A Compendium for the Family History
    • A Compendium for the Glorantha Bestiary
    • A Compendium for the Red Book of Magic
    • A Compendium for Weapons and Equipment
    • The Gamemaster Screen Pack
    • Pegasus Plateau
    • Smoking Ruins and other Stories
    • VTT version of published maps

Yes, I can use Roll20 without all of this, but it would be great to see the same support for RuneQuest:Roleplaying in Glorantha similar to the already existing support for Call of Cthulhu.

I can’t find a reference to kuschile horse archery in Runequst: Roleplaying in Gloratha could someone clarify where I can find it’s description and mechanics?

As this question has not yet been answered:

As far as I can say, there is no description of Kuschile horse archery available for RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha - at least not yet. It seems, that this skill will be part of the upcoming cult's book (but that's just me guessing from the statements in this thread), as this skill will be provided (at least) by the Yelmalio cult.

The only rule mechanic for mounted archery so far is on p. 213/214:

    Quote

    Shooting While Moving
An adventurer cannot shoot while moving or dodging. The only exception to this is mounted archery, which is performed at the same ability chance as regular archery, assuming the Ride skill of the archer is equal to the skill with the missile weapon. If the Ride skill is lower, the attacker’s skill is reduced to the level of the Ride skill.

So it seems (again my guess), that the skill reducing of archery depending on the Ride skill will be removed, if the Kuschile horse archery is used successfully. Starting value for Kuschile horse archery seems to be 25%, and you get another Geas with this skill.

All this is me deducing from the statement in this thread. Could well be, that I've missed something ...
