    Interrelated puns and Easter Eggs.

I thought so, but that's the point: Neither do I understand the puns nor do I see the Easter Eggs ... which tells me, that there are still a lot of holes in my Gloranthan lore ...

The Great House – the original manor of Talar Barat - is a two story round building in the centre of Casin Town.  It houses the Faro Wheel, the strange artifact the Talar retrieved from the Clanking Ruins. Because wagers on the Faro Wheel can be made with intangible concepts (runic affinities, mana, life-force, perception etc), Ingareen statisticians have long disputed what the Great House’s house edge actually is. But it is said Talar Barat’s beard turned gray that day Belintar "broke the bank" on the Faro Wheel.

Not sure, but I think, I do not understand, how this is related to the OP ... 🤔

  3. I'm aware, that Belintar is not called Pharaoh anymore, but God-King, but anyway in the Adventure Book of the Gamemaster Screen Pack, p.6, it says:

    Quote

The Stranger proved himself to be the sacral king and from then on was called God-King, or Pharoah.

I have seen this title (Pharoah) as well as its alternate form Pharaoh in several older publications.

But from my perspective - being a non-native English speaker - the latter is the correct form, whereas the former looks like a typo.

Another example supporting the assumption, that Pharoah is a typo, is Thunder Rebels. In its index you can find

    Quote

    Pharoah .....................15, 152

but if you look at the respective pages the title Pharaoh is used!

An Internet search showed something similar: even if searching for Pharoah most results were about Pharaoh. The only real hit was Pharoah Sanders, a Jazz musician, who used Pharoah as a part of his artist's name.

So is my assumption correct, that Pharoah is a typo, or do I miss something here?

About HeroQuest, I'm guessing the Big Rubble book was definitely cancelled. Somebody correct me if I'm mistaken, because I would like that book very much.

I thought always, that the Pavis and Big Rubble book (by Robin Laws) is a Runequest source book (it's listed this way in the OP). And I think Jeff mentioned in one of his latest video interviews for Chaosium, that its still in the works, but I may be wrong here ...

Page 38 the Bed Book of Magic ...

Argh, albeit just a typo probably, I really need to see now the publication of this new magic book by chaosium ... containing all the magic provided by Uleria?

If the images of women in RQ:G are representative of Glorantha, and Glorantha draws heavily upon depictions of women in various cultures throughout Earth's history, I'd say it's still the same topic.

Really? Most of the discussion on the previous page was about attacking Ernaldan priestesses, and if it's allowed or not.

Looking at this thread on the main page, I was surprised, that it run already over three pages. I thought, the OP topic wouldn't raise such an strong reaction in these times. So I had a look, and in fact my assumption was proved right in fact. Most of the discussion in the thread was not about the OP topic.

Ok, knowing the forum and its members for awhile now, I shouldn't have been surprised ...

But I will stop here, because otherwise I will hijack this thread for a third topic ...

  7. My guess would be, that Sartar:Kingdom of Heroes has been removed from Lulu, as it has been published under the HeroQuest brand, which is no longer owned by Moon Design.

If you look at the Chaosium web site, you will see, that the only hard cover books still available for HeroQuest are HeroQuest Glorantha and The Coming Storm, and these are on sale, because

Over coming months, Chaosium will be rebadging all HeroQuest products.

"We are currently selling off existing printed stocks bearing the HeroQuest mark at a discount. Purchase these print releases while you can! Once these books are taken down from sale they will be out-of-print permanently," said Michael O'Brien.

(from the brand change announcement referenced above)

So neither Sartar:Kingdom of Heroes nor the Sartar Companion will be available in print or as POD as long as no new version under the QuestWorlds brand has been produced. As far as I know, currently there exist no plans to do so in the near future.

I'm pretty sure also, that The Missing Lands will not be made available as PDF or POD, because

"Volume 5 is Missing Lands which has largely been superseded by the Guide to Glorantha."

I thought I read that also in one of MOB's updates.

Yes, I think too, that it is Poland, but anyway, it doesn't make a difference, if you have to wait for a container ship coming from China to arrive in Europe, or if you have to wait for a container ship coming from Europe to arrive in Australia (which is the location of one Chaosium's warehouses), as the Starter Set will not be officially released until it is available in all Chaosium warehouses.

  9. The Guide to Glorantha covers much than the Glorantha Sourcebook, because it covers Glorantha as a whole world including history from the God Time until 1621, including the Sky, including all the Pantheoi, but all this in a more high level view, whereas the Glorantha Sourcebook covers mainly the Dragon Pass area and the Lunar Empire, the history of these areas after the Dawn, the main Pantheoi worshipped in these areas, and all this in more detail than the Guide.

I would strongly recommend to follow Andrew's advice above: start with the Sourcebook and let the Guide follow later.

  10. I've bought The Company of the Dragon on the first day, that it was available, and have completed my first (cursory) read ... and what shall I say ... it's awesome. And seeing this is a fan publication, makes me wimp out of the idea to create my own publication at some time ... but maybe I will recover.

Anyway it's a truly great story, and I cannot wait to really play this fantastic campaign.

In my Praxian/Pavic campaign set in 1619, all of Duke Raus' peasants in Ronegarth worship Lodril. Which is pretty handy for the Verkarthani PC in the party.

Yes, but Ronegarth is not Sun County, right?

    Done.

@Oracle It would be helpful to add a link to each episode so newcomers can dive straight in.

Done. Bullet titles (e.g. Episode 1 or Episode 14, etc.) are now direct links to the respective YouTube video.

I thought about doing this myself already, and with this thread being pinned now, this is definitely a useful enhancement.

If we don't assume this, then we have to find a viable answer to "how does a Rune Master learn a new spell? Especially if another Rune Master with the spells isn't around?" I'd like to think their god and the associated spirits would actually come in useful here!

A Rune Master was not a Rune Master since his Initiation into the respective cult. So he has learned the respective spirit spell sometime on his way to becoming a Rune Master from another Rune Master - maybe at a different temple, and maybe even after he has become a Rune Master. That a Rune Master was not available over all this time is quite improbable. And if it was the case indeed, than he was not able to learn that spell, and therefore he is not able to teach it.
