Chris Klug over on G+ asked for a list of Praxian gods with their runes. This prompted me to update my work-in-progress structure of the Praxian Tradition that I'm using for the Prax book. Some of the societies are mentioned in HeroQuest Glorantha, and this PNG puts them into the structure I'm using.

Good morning,  questions about the basmoli. Basmol has de Beast and the Earth rune, why the Earth rune and not the Mastery rune or the Death rune?. Basmola is not canon anymore? Is Basmol a spirit or a God? or maybe both. What is his relationship with the lion god of Peloria?.

If you have the Guide, look up Ronance Well, it has some small details of the spirit there.

I hope you put a description of Ronance Well in your book, but i understand that you have to prioritize. I have the guide and the idea came from that. The player is using the old Ronance Roads to open the mythic territory and where the road finish he heroquest. The objetive is to link the whole territory.

There's no overall Water God/Goddess in the Wastes, that's the problem that the death of Seolinthur caused. Waha met all the Water spirits and gave them an honoured place in Praxian society - the Thirstless spirit society. Within this are all the individual water spirits, including the individual spirits of the oases. The "chief" spirit of the society is Zola Fel. The gazetteer of the Wastelands in the Guide gives info on some of the Oases spirits.

Thanks David. I was planning to heroquest  a myth called "How Ronance married his wife" so one of my players can marry  the spirit/goddess of an oasis and put  the oasis and its people under his protection. He is a rune lord of Ronance (Wandering Lord) and the oasis would be his base of operations.

Hi david, is there a god/goddess of the wells in the wastelands/prax? or are the water spirit in every oasis on their own?

Rainfall has no effect on fertility?  None?  What about the fact that Rhinos need to drink then?  Personally I think magic potentially provides a huge edge, but there are basic laws of life that are pretty unalterable.  On the other hand I would definitely reduce the effectiveness of Orlanth's rain spells by half in the wastes as it is not his land.

As for Waha not allowing things... Tell that to Unicorn Tribe, the Zebra Tribe, and the Pol Joni.  Does Waha allow Sable Riders to go join the Antelope Lancers and follow the Lunar Way?  Or allow Storm Bulls to team up with Orlanthi via Uroxi middlemen?  I am sure Waha isn't overjoyed at how the Ostrich Tribes and the Unicorn Tribes have ties to the Yelm Pantheon either, or how there are Agimori and Basmoli wandering Prax.  Also, where do the Oasis people fit in things?  In short, I am sure that deities don't smite their worshippers for cutting deals with people who give them a survival edge.  If a few families devote themselves to another deity or spirit that benefits the tribe, nobody will care provided their first loyalty ultimately remains to the tribe, and the tribe's first loyalty remains to Waha's Pantheon.  It is a bit like having a shaman of thunderbird in the tribe.

I also remember a reference to Wind Khans of Orlanth at Pairing Stone.

Forget about rain fertility effects in our planet. Earth powers to sustain life have being badly damaged. It is not a question i think about "matter" is about energy and myth.

There's two entries in the Guide in the Gazetteer section of the Wastes - Orani's Tongue & Mistake. It was the Devil and what do you mean by "Entropic Death"

I mean, no soul, body or powers left behind. Death by chaos. I was wondering about what is left of Yamsur, Seolinthor, orani and hothmir (after being beheaded by tien). If there is something to  save.

Sure, I don't see why not. Naturally she would have a small cult. Maybe a daughter of Ernalda and Eurmal. Go wild, it's your game.

Who killed Orani? The Devil? Ragnaglar? another god with Death powers?  and was it an "entropic death"?

I've had a look for other references to this. It was part of the original Middle Sea Empire manuscript, but there's no further info. I'm going to treat this as an Agimori spirit due to how the name looks.

Is it posible for a goddess to have the illusion rune in prax and not be a trickster/imp? Like seseine but without the caotic/lust powers? The Canon says that many entities survived in the paps.

NB (for those who don't know) -- pretty much all the MRQ material is deprecated from "canon."  YGWV if you use it!

That's fine, of course -- we are all encouraged to make our Glorantha's our own -- but don't expect to see "matching" info from new publishing.  FWIW and all that...

just right now there are not mechanics for this power, so i will use it. Until a "Canon mechanics" appears.

Thanks for the reference. Please note that the Drastic books are not part of canon and I'm directed not to use them. It may seem an odd decision considering some of the content, but a lot of the content was discarded by Greg (look at the sky section in the Prax book and compare it with the Guide). A lot of the articles were heavily edited and altered by the Drastic author who added his spin to the work. Likewise for the Praxian tales 14,15 and 16, although I have the original text for a lot of those articles.

Hi David. is the "copper knot" canon? are you going to include it in your text?. I think  it was the praxian version of the "EWF Battle Banner". Thanks

Personally I wouldn't use her. I'd suggest a HeroQuest back to the Green Age to identify her and a few more to establish her as the land goddess of the Wastelands. Then start her cult at the Paps and spread it. Won't take more than a 100 years for her to become established.

What runes do you think it would be more apropiated for her cult? earth and  harmony? i am not so sure she would be able to restore the fertility of the wastelands. Harmonize the powers of the land to make life easier like "Fertilize" spell of caladra and aurelion?. Heal the damage caused by chaos and generts fall is a bit radical i think. thoughts?

Elsewhere in Glorantha he becomes the god of Butchers.

No, but PCs might be. This a plot hook rather than an actual thing. Garzeen followers are compelled to return the hides and this is of course needed for the resurrection. Pavis is more concerned with running a small city than bringing back an Earth God, although Pavis PCs may get involved. Eirtha has another route - acknowledging a land goddess for the region, an as yet unnamed goddess. Samastina brings that knowledge to the Paps when she arrives with Jaldon and Argrath. This is another plot hook.

    Hara Orane?

  13. 32 minutes ago, David Scott said:

Yes of course - there's treasure up there. We know that Jaldon went up there when he did the Task of Waha and the Statues, so there's a precedent. Only the foolish would there though, the Praxians call it a Giant Place and know about Blind, Brow and the Maker of Earthquakes that live up there. Have a look at the description in the Guide and the picture on page 457 - those Bison Riders are clearly up there for a reason.

Waha and the Statues. What is the story? if you can spoil it ;)

The Fate Rune is not used as a player character Rune in the new RQ.

What about Artmal and daliath cults? i think both have the fate rune in guide of glorantha.

I would say fate would help with divination and the like, though it could also possibly affect your dice rolls.

well, in glorantha you cant guess the future, the gods are alien to the concept of Time. The rune is like Harmony rune(  three parallel lines) and communication rune (two parallels and one crossed), Fate (three crossed  lines). So i think is more about "links".

    hmm

More likely. As you probably realise this isn't my full time job, but a sideline. Family, real job, other games job (I'm a writer for Wotan Games currently working on War of the Nine Realms, a Norse theme board game) make it a slow process. Much is also exploration of Praxian culture, Greg didn't create a fully formed environment and Sandy just added to the chaos:-) Lots of stuff was never really thought about in any depth either. Lots of fan spinoff stuff didn't use the core references as their basis (Nomad Gods, Cults of Prax) and some of the official publications went off in a direction that wasn't really what Greg's vision was (Nomad Gods 2, Drastic Prax).

The main thing I'm working on at the moment is Praxian History. What we have at the moment is basically histories of the invaders - Pavis, Sun County, Lunars, but none of what the Praxians did. I'm doing this by mapping the geography, and other features of the Wastes and looking at population numbers. Mapping the Wastes has taken a lot of my time up. They are based on the historical maps in the Guide that my friend Lawrence Keogh produced, I'm doing them in Illustrator like him so the maps are easily scalable, and file size is manageable. It's been worth it as it has produced some really great insights into the early years of the Covenant (check out my Praxian Histories post). Stuff like why the pro-lunar Sables are based at Moonbroth becomes obvious - they're not based at Moonbroth - Moonbroth is within the Sable Tribe's ancestral grazing - the Good Place. I've also started to integrate the history of the Most Respected Elders at the Paps in to this so it produces a coherent history.

Is Tada's greisly portions profecy canon? where can i find it?

That's a fair comment. It's huge size leads me to believe that it was once a wall in Genert's Palace. It's current location is due to the reassembly of the broken parts of the Wastes as Waha's net was down tight - lots of places aren't in their original place. The markings on it are cryptic and the collected stories of the Wastes - Myths of what the gods did in the Great Darkness, Tasks of Waha, all kinds of magical inscriptions. It could be viewed as a kind of grimoire of the Wastes - you need to be good to decypher the hard bits. Shaman come here to learn new knowledge from the spirits - stuff like how to find the Horned Man, and learn the Soul Winds. It could contain almost any plot hook you want. One of the things it does contain is the name of Genert's daughter who was never allowed to be the land goddess of what is now the Wastes. Ultimately it's a giant wall of stuff that most couldn't be bothered to decypher, unless you are a shaman, sorceror, priest, God Learner, Lunar explorer, etc. Access to the Wall is difficult as it's on the steep valley side leading up to Vultures Country.

"contain is the name of Genert's daughter who was never allowed to be the land goddess of what is now the Wastes" is posible to find her and learn her knowledge?
