Well, Chaos splits at least three ways — and as you suggest, even these splits may not helpfully be considered factions:

    1. Outside entities — like Krarsht
    2. Balancers — like the Red Goddess
    3. Corrupted entities — like Ragnaglar

I wondered where creatures like the broos fitted into this division. If my genes are damaged by exposure to radiation and this affects many generations of my descendants, that is not to say that they are radioactive. So maybe it is not helpful to consider the broos a chaotic race, at all. Certainly, aspects like their parasitism need not be considered chaotic, even if they were originally cuddly goat-creatures of conventional reproductive habit and the parasitism came after Thed’s “fall” and as a result of it.

The organiser and the actor. The gods at the ritual of the net are just bait, made to feel more important by a bit of chat from Trickster. (And as part of the long game, it doesn’t hurt to get them used to the ‘just stand here and hold this’ rôle — which is about all most of them can manage, poor dears — as you have got to get their defences down to get them ready for Argrath & the Devil.)

Just right now, I think that, what was devoured in Argrath and the net were the masks we mortals interacted with, not the gods themselves. After that, mortals had to discover another way to interact with the divine.

Love the concept. It reminds me a little of a Grazelander character I created.  🙂
BTW, Six Ages rocks. I had a lot of fun playing it.

That is what I want to do, use Six Ages as "ancestors references", stories, when Heroquesting in the Gods war and bring back "hidden/forgotten truths". Yes, Yelmalio is there and Ernalda... But the chieftain would be Hyalor, maybe a cult similar in structure as waha. I have to convince my GM because is a lot of work for both, so using waha cult as structure and six ages as cultural references (a clan circle of seven families, story tents, genders much more balanced than yelmites...) may work. Things didn't end well for Broyan but he returned with vingkot's tattoo and the helm and sword. This are the Hero Wars, right?

    What do you think?

  3. Hi, I am planning a new character to play in a new campaign. My character is a mix of grazelander and zebra Tribe, during his initiation I want to go farther so he can meet Hyalor (instead of heortlings second son). He will return with his truth/experience.

Hyalor Runes fire+man+change (inspired in my actual play of six ages, I love this game, that I will use to get new revelations and create a new Tribe in Balazar) and he didn't brake hippoi just convince her to accept change and do the better of it, so "both act as one".

Rune spells. Command horse and speak with horses, common rune spells.

Hippoi/gamari will provide fleethoof (only works on horses)

What do you think? Any ideas/clarifications will be welcome

However she gives two rune spells that use the Earth rune and another that can be used with Life, Movement or Moon... Further evidence of runic connections could be that Hwarin Dalthippa's road that connects Jillaro with Mirin’s Cross and Filichet, of which the upcoming Gods of Glorantha says:

    Thanks David

She's treated as one of the Grain Goddesses of Dragon Pass (generic runes: Plant, Earth, Fertility), and is mentioned in miscellaneous notes (not the subcults section) of the latest Ernalda writeup I saw. No specific Runes are specified; I'd be kinda surprised if one of the biggest mountains in the world didn't have an association with the Stasis Rune, myself.

    Thanks!

  7. Hello, I need some help with my campaign, what are the runes for Kero Fin in RQG? earth+life? Earth+harmony?. Also, i actually understand that Kero fin is worshiped as a subcult of Ernalda in dragón pass, is this correct?

I'm coming around to the idea of giving HeroQuestors a Rune pool for spells learned on HeroQuests, in addition to the ones for each cult.

Just see the final reward for  defending the Grove in sacred time. Smoking ruins pdf

That is an error I recently became aware of. Leika should have a total of 16 points in Orlanth. Rune points is with the CULT, and not with each subcult. Vinga is a subcult of Orlanth Adventurous (which is an aspect of Orlanth).

Maybe some of those points are stored in God time.

There are plenty of Heroquests available, they aren't for RQG but they certainly give a feel on how they work and they are "recent" in Gloranthan development terms. Most of these are written by Jeff, so it's unlikely that future developments will veer far from this kind of format. As for specific rules, it's unlikely that RQG will see a "super runequest" favoured by many in the past. If you are fortunate you might have one of the key documents in Fragment 1645, published in Tales of the Reaching Moon #7.

Descent into the Underworld - The culmination of the Colymar campaign, the heroes are to find an Orlanthi hero and free him from his sorcerous imprisonment in a Hell of the Red Goddess.Sartar - Kingdom of Heroes (2012)

Red Moon Rising - The heroes are selected  to be involuntary participants in a Lunar heroquest. The heroes are to take the role of the Rebel Gods (as seen by the Lunars) during a ceremony. Pavis - Gateway to Adventure (2012)

The Hero and the Grove - The heroes hero quest to a sacred grove to reestablish the magic between its occupant and their clan. Sartar Companion (2012).

The Law Staff Quest - Orlanthi heroquest whereby the Justice of Orlanth may be clearly discerned. (2012).

Return of the Goddess - The heroes enter the Underworld, enter the House of the Dead and return to their community with a goddess. HeroQuest Glorantha (2015)

The Stealing Of The Giant’s Cows - a well-known Orlanthi ‘cattle raiding’ heroquest. Performing this quest successfully leads to the clan’s cattle calving the red cows. The Eleven Lights by @Ian Cooper (2017)

The Three New Stars - epic Heroquest to return Orlanth from the underworld. The Eleven Lights by @Ian Cooper (2017)

Looking at these, heroquests either return a power or relationship to a community or an individual (as usual). The nearest to individual powers look to be the Shamanic Abilities of RQG, community powers go to a wyter (or similar). Relationships would be to powerful beings or sponsorship. There's likely to be other stuff allowing Adventurers function on the otherside and return easier, but for now the above are easily useable.

If we dont get the rules to doing heroquest in RQG, then we dont need to buy the GM sourcebook when Chaosium release it. Most of us will adapt, personally I will use the moongose rules instead.

Yes, but also no. Some of my thinking has developed with the thread. Lets try this.

There is a one Fire rune: Vezkarvez

The first 'god' to devolve from that rune was: Ezelveztay. It devolves by association with other runes into the Keskeskenni

One amongst the Keskeskenni is considered the most fitting and given the title Emperor, or Yelm, or Lightfore. IMO Yelm and Lightfore are both titles that change hands, and can be translatd as Emperor.

There are three brothers Lodril, Arraz, and Dayzatar who are the earliest 'worshiped' generation of sky gods

Arraz is the first Yelm/Emperor/Lightfore. He is the celestial Emperor.

Yelm/Arraz and Dendara have a child: Murharzam. He is the earthly Emperor. He is one of their eight children, which has always implied to me eight ruling deity suns of the cities of DH that are acknowledged (though 10 ought to be the number)

I suspect this may be a relationship similar to the Red Goddess/Red Emperor.

The Blue Dragon Oslir forces Yelm/Arraz from the sky; Murharzam defeats the serpent to become Lightfore/Yelm. Arraz is I think, now, the servant or something lesser not the Yelm/Lightfore any more.

    Orlanth kills Yelm/Murharzam.

Other suns hold for the role for a while Yelm/Antirius (who dies), then Yelm/Polaris and Yelm/Ourania

On earth there is a a succession of Emperors

At the dawn Yelm/Antirius returns, but is not the sun disk, just a planet (Lightfore). At the dawn the sun disk is not Arraz either, who is now a star. The sun disk is something new, associated with Time.

Under the Bright Empire the sun disk begins to receive worship, many myths of holders of the title of Yelm or Emperor are transferred to the sun. The sun accumulates all these individual Lightfore/Yelm/Emperor myths i.e. parts of Arraz, Antirius, Murharzam even perhaps Polaris and Ourania, The entities that were formally a Yelm decline in importance in worship.

    Or something like that.

It's possible that Yelmalio is just a Bright Empire composite of the sons of Yelm i.e. the bits that were left over once we had done this 🙂

thank you, thank you and thank you, really!! best explanation never read.  I will buy it even if it changes later.

I don’t think so without some Adventurer intervention. This was a great god time act and so I don’t believe it can be easily undone. The lifeforce is now part of Storm Bull. If he were to die there it might be restored, but getting to that point is a huge adventure. That said if you think the flood can restore the dead place then go do it. YGMV.

Well i was not thinking about undone what was done, just that the life-giving waters just heal the " life stealing" effects of that zone on those who go there even if what it is left is only desert.

There’s an error in the third map, according to Greg’s notes, the Wastes don’t get flooded. However if you want it in your game I’d say the Wicked Writher escapes and roams the waters as a giant water elemental, not trapped anymore. Or some other cool story.

Sorry David it was my mistake, I meant "The dead place" in prax. Will it  be healed?. Thanks.

I was reminded that I hadn't done the third map! So here is the final flood level with a special note. You'll see i've marked a red circle on the map. This place is important as its the separation pain of the Oslir river watershed and the Creek-stream-river watershed. I've chosen not to have the flood spill over at this point. If you want an Oslir catastrophe as part of this event - go ahead, but it doesnt seem to fit here unless you think otherwise.

So David, what will happen when the waters reach the Dead Bottom? Thanks.

We're working daily on it. I hate to give a date only to be wrong, but layout is roaring.

This is a very nice-looking book, and certain chapters such as adventurer generation and combat take a lot of work, with all of the tables.

As noted above, giving a specific date is a prescription to be wrong. But "not that much longer" is a safe estimation.

Art is 99% done. I think we're waiting for an adjustment to a map and a sidebar header. To be honest, the winter convention season hit us hard, and there was this other sourcebook we squeezed into the schedule before RuneQuest...

Not so much, as it happens. The clarifications that came up with the FRPG Day Quickstart had already been addressed in the manuscript. We got some useful feedback from the ashcan version, but ultimately we weren't releasing and waiting... editing and revisions were ongoing, and will probably be ongoing (but tapering) until we send in the last print proof signoff.

While it's probably good form to not steal one game's thunder with an announcement about a second with an overlapping fan base, but to be clear, we're going to announce the  RuneQuest .pdf's availability as soon as it's possible. :)

Thanks :) We are eager to read it!

Do you mean Babeester Gor? Maran Gor is Earth & Disorder. Babeester was Earth & Death since her birth as Ernalda's avenger.

I mean Maran before being Gor not Babeester. I think that earth/disorder and death are her cults runes now, but that does not mean those were her runes before Gods War. Gods have many aspects

  17. Hi,

One of my players wants to recover the lost myths about Maran before she took Death. She thinks that her runes should be Change/Earth as the Active/Earth also she thinks that one of her roles should be the psychopomp for the Earth Tribe, guiding the souls thru the earth to reach the Halls of Ty Kora Tek.

    What do you think?

In what game system? Or are you asking where she fits into the God Learner classification scheme?

    Hi,

I am asking in RQG and Heroquest game systems. I wrote Truth because Truth is also about wisdom, constancy (not stasis) and order, isnt it?. At first Orenoar went to live with Larnste and the world grew well and quickly, i supose it means that the world grew orderly not randomly

  19. Hi!

What do we know  about Goddess Delaina? I know that she is one of the six sisters and a epitome of purity and self-restraint, goddess of Rhigos. I think that her cult deal with Earth and Truth runes. What do you think?

Earth temples contain lots of different sacred serpents guarding them. Not all of the Serpent Guardians are the type in Nomad Gods and WF#7. Many are just giant (magical) snakes such as those pulling Ronance's chariot.

    Nomad Gods says:

As such all of these are the children of Sanama. Sanama is clearly (to me) one of Ernalda's daughters.

The bigger problem is that serpent has been used throughout Gloranthan books, likewise the term guardian is also ambiguous to me.

    Hi,

Sanama? is another of the  Paps goddess?
