I heard American Election results are tomorrow!
And, as you might know, in Australia, it's already tomorrow! 😮
But, unfortunately, due to our secret agreements with the time lords I can't disclose the results... Just saying! 😮😄

Excuse me Lloyd, as the Orlanthi said to the lunar... yer stealing my thunder! Telling jokes on my turf. Jeez Louise! And about Time Lords on top of it all, and... er, what's that... right sorry... the management has asked me to apologize and remember to be nice... sssooorrrrryyyyyy!

  2. Democracy is a lovely thing and you lucky folk down south get to exercise the rights that belonging brings tomorrow. Just think how many would love to have that chance, and here you are on the verge of casting a very important vote. I have had the honour of being a deputy returning officer for various elections over the decades, municipal, provincial and federal up here in the great cold north and being able to help folk to vote has been a great pleasure in my life. So, if y'all can, help an elderly relative get to the voting stations. Hold the door for the person after you to make them feel welcomed! Say hello to and wish the clerk taking your info a good day! Smile, someone earned you right, sometimes with their lives, to allow you this great privilege!

I hope everyone has a fantastically peaceful day and that everyone can be gracious in the victory or loss of their choices!

    Cheers!

But there is no need to establish a one true method. Maybe it works better for you to imagine that Orlanth sent a spirit to possess the shadow cat or a sword or whatever. Then just make it so.

Having long been a proponent of the game being ours after we purchase it, I must say I find your being a very vocal proponent of letting the table decide (and keeping canon for Chaosium) to be incredibly refreshing.

    Cheers and thanks very much!

And pretty soon, you cannot tell the wolves from the shepherds. [More corrosive cynicism suppressed, so as not to upset @Bill the barbarian.]

I was very tempted to flag this as abusive...

I will ask you very politely to please not use my name in a mocking way to show that you are so magnanimous that you even show consideration for that nasty barbarian. It is a nasty trick and I do not appreciate it!

    Have a great day!

  5. That might be a bit pedantic. I think Peter's point remains intact. That is only 5* in total and and two of them are from the same scenario. Help me out here Godlearner, I cannot recall Aziok, where is she from?

    * plus?

  6. Anything that starts with a quote on leadership by Nelson Mandela can't be bad!

    Quote

“A leader... is like a shepherd. He or she stays behind the flock, letting the most nimble go out ahead, whereupon the others follow, not realizing that all along they are being directed from behind.” —Nelson Mandela

they were the best official books for RuneQuest 3rd edition, and are still highly regarded by those who remember them.

Very true, my table loved them!

I'm proud of being a part of that, and recall fondly working with Ken 'Rune Czar' Rolston.

I think he went onto have a small career after RQ... 😉

Oh, we are definitely in a wonderful time to be a Gloranthaphile.

NIce, svennson. May as well acknowledge the great new works!

Not magic - if you cast a rune magic spell, you cannot cast other magic in the same round - with some exceptions, namely stacking spells, that is, adding additional rune points to make the spell stronger, or casting spells that are explicitly allowed to be cast together, like illusion spells, the Extension spell, or the body transformations of Odayla with the spell Transform Self.

    Just for confirmation...

    Quote

Casting a Rune magic spell prevents an adventurer from casting any other Rune magic, spirit magic, or sorcery spells that round. The sole exceptions are Extension, which is cast at the same time as the spell it is intended to extend, and Illusion spells. For more information see the description of these Rune spells.

It seems to work well enough. I’m still dithering about whether to introduce bronze shields with a further extra HP but increased (possibly as much as doubled) ENC.

Seems to me there are very few (well, out side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe) pre iron age metal shields. A metal boss in the centre of the shield, maybe some rivets and a metal rim reinforcing the circumference, perhaps. There are experts here about that would have better info but that is a good starting point.

Now do not forget the main rule of many tables around here... MGF! One Cap America shield for you, and for you, and for... hey everybody, look under your seat, a Cap America shield for everyone!

According to posts in this site, RuneQuest is a better system than DnD 5e and Glorantha has a much richer and more coherent world than the Forgotten Realms. Assuming players of tabletop RPGs prefer better systems and settings in theory a little promotion should do wonders for sales.

The last time RQ was available as a supported product it was 2nd to DnD in most markets and neck and neck in some European markets. This was the 90s... The marketing was good to excellent and as you say, it was more to the taste of those seeking a better and richer experience. Now in fairness the DnD system has improved a lot since then.

There's this 2012 Japanese cartoon called Nyaruko: Crawling With Love! that blatantly promoted the Call of Cthulhu game (CoC). It supercharged CoC's sales in Japan. I am wondering why Chaosium isn't doing similar initiatives for RuneQuest.

Ah! Now this is the wunderkind of Chaosium products and with the disappearance of RQ for a couple of decades has assumed its mantle of mightiness. I think a little marketing and word of mouth and maybe a couple of large breaks as you suggest from big names and I think RQ will be back where it was before the AH vs Chaosium implosion of the 90s.

For Balazarings I'd keep this but have it reflect their ability to pack up and manage their goods during transport to a new site, finding a suitable site to setup camp, gathering necessary plants, herbs, etc to sustain the clan when meat is low, etc.  Keep Survival as the skill to survive in the wild when dealing with adverse weather, famine, etc.

    May I suggest Manage Campsite?

Hi, Steven. If I may make an observation or two... But first let me say thanks for your hard work as my opening observation!

Singing should be available to clans as well, even wolves sing at night when the moon is full. I would think primitive man would sing, well see the notes below...

Why would a citadel dweller be a better dancer? One could say more civilized perhaps, but better?

I'm inclined to wonder whether parts of the Bronze age collapse had to with the increased availability of iron weapons - that is, did the Iron age smash the Bronze age? It's not otherwise obvious why societal collapse and the end of the Bronze age should happen at the same time.

I have seen some good treatises about how drought and subsequent famine (possibly caused by climate change) forced Europeans (from the Italian peninsula and some parts of the Balkans and the Hellenic peninsula) who had served as mercenaries in the eastern Mediterranean wars out of their homelands and into taking a place in their former bosses' territories. These fine warriors did not come alone but were joined by their tribes as well. This tended to increase the pressure of already occurring disasters in these lands...

Add to that the sea people, who may well have faced the same climate disasters as the former mercenaries and toss in the advent of iron weapons and the collapse was just waiting to happen. Situations that we that we now call A Perfect Storm.
