  1. yes, you could use regular dice and declare odds as tails and evens as heads.
  2. My only concern is players may get the idea that getting an heiress to be there wife is easy and rewards are ample. 5th edition had a problem, imho, with heiresses. It also elevates the Winter Phase just a tad as the player knight has climbed the rung of the ladder and so is expected to partake in that portion of the game. You mentioned you are new to GMing Pendragon. Congrats! and welcome to the club. Do you want to take on the extra work with the player? Assuming the PKs started with the Starter Set in 510 and you have run the three years there, and the three years in Grey Knight, that is six years total. The knight is now 27 (assuming start age of 21), so definitely will want to start a family. Have the rest of the PKs also found spouses? When one does, usually others will join that band wagon. Which can open up courtly side of the game. Agree that the game runs either way, just depends on the detail you want to take it to.
  3. YPWV, but I would disagree with this. Some will then purposely not put points into Brawling, so they would get some additional free points. STR 12 = Brawling 6. That is 4 points and may very well be less if STR is higher. Furthermore, on page 160, it describes Brawling as a broad umbrella that applies to fisticuffs, wrestling, and other weapons, including Improvised ones. To simply declare Dagger becomes the brawling skill weakens the skill itself.
  4. What Morien said. Plus, the default in 6e is you are playing a Household Knight and your father is still alive. One thing 5e did was to make your character's father die when the eldest son turns 21 or so, so you inherit it all. But, if you are a younger son, your Glory total is set upon that same death. Thus, when your father died and had perhaps 8,000 Glory, you received one-tenth of that, (i.e., 800), but that same total is then given to every member of the family. In 6e, if your gm allows it, your father may still be adventuring and accumulating Glory, allowing for younger members to inherit a bit more. The cap is still there, so no gaining lots more, but you might be able to adventure with your father as a squire once or twice.
  5. I would expect these to be further expanded in a latter book, for those who want them. More than likely, the Faith and Miracles book, will be the place to further expand on them (but, do not quote me as I do not have definitive information). As it is, they do provide a framework to work from and YPWV can cover the rest. One option would be "YOU" would be escorting someone else going on a pilgrimage. Those entries are in the table, both local and distant. As you, personally, are not doing the quest, I would allow only 1 Miracle on a critical and none on the rest. You could also make a roll for the person going on the quest and if they receive a miracle, then if witnessed by the PK, perhaps a bump up 1 level on their devotion roll.
  6. What I did was use the Pendragon rules instead of the PV rules. I converted PV's timeline to fit within the rules of the Grand Pendragon Campaign based upon the adventures put in the comics. Because PV as written did not fit Pendragon's rules, I suggested how to convert using alternative rulings so PV can fit within Pendragon. That way, the story could be told from Pendragon point of view. I did not think of reversing it to make Pendragon fit PV. I admit it could be done. Each coin is 50-50. But add a second coin, and now you have 25-50-25. So, by adding multiple coins, you can change the odds/percentages. A third coin results in 12.5-37.5-37.5-12.5 and so on. So, depending on how deep you wish to go as far as choices, simply add another coin to the total. I already submitted all this to Chaosium, but the real problem is they do not have the license at the present time. Thus, we cannot do anything with Prince Valiant. Maybe, could do a generic coin dependent system without any mention, but the question then becomes why should they, as the already have Pendragon? Interested in hearing what your thoughts on this are, as I think PV would make a great addition to the Pendragon world. It would definitely be Your Pendragon Will Vary campaign, but it would be satisfying to have my characters actually meeting Prince Valiant.
  7. Found an error on the Autocalc file: Station value does not add to the total for the court
  8. Chapter 13: Solo Scenarios, page 214, 1st column, Both the "Visiting the Royal Court" and "Visiting a Lord's Overlord" entries reference the Solo on page 217. The Solos are actually on p. 218. In addition, on page 218, the latter Solo is named, Visiting With A Great Lord.
  9. I am all in favor of highlighting differences between the various Periods. It will make them stand out more in comparison to each other. It also highlights the challenge of navigating the entire GPC when they have different emphasis and challenges.
  10. Thinking it is based on time. When did the Great Sword become a weapon? The starter set is dealing when Arthur first comes out. There are other weapons not mentioned as well, thus my assumption.
  11. also, at least one of the pregens have errors. But yes, everyone who is knighted has at least one Glory Point they could spend. You can make one trait a 16, and Valorous starts at 15. Knighted, and you could easily have two 16's.
  12. I might be misunderstanding, but perhaps you are meant to meet Arthur while playing in Book 1, "The Adventure of the Sword in the Stone"? That being said, when I ran my group through it, I used Book 1, the Sword Tournament, and some additional sources of mine to make it a bit more involved before the actual Tournament.
  13. Now, would you want to rerun it? If so, same basic plot line, or what else would interest you?
  14. There should be 1d20 and 6d6 based on the Starter Set I was allowed to see and examine.
