Character creation question

Hello,

say I was creating a Wizard character for a fantasy adventure.

My initial points are 250 to spend. I have to spend those points in the following categories: Craft(any), Insight Knowledge (Occult), two other knowledge (any), Language, (other), Listen, Perform (Rituals), Persuade, Research?

Second, for the personal skill points, I can spend them anywhere I choose? That is, my wizard would like to buy some weapons skills, and maybe pick locks or fine manipulation.

Just checking to see if I'm on the right track.

Yes you are

Although I'd change "anywhere I choose?" to "anywhere I'd choose out of the skills that the GM will let me have". In a universal system not all the skills fit every setting.

So thats a Normal level game. You can add points into your Occupation skills up to 75% and the any others up to 50%.

You're never going to be a Gandalf at Normal level but its a start

i think you can/should be able to put skill points on spells if you are using magic!
