Greek Xiphos BRONZE

Wanna watch a guy cast a bronze xiphos?

Sure ya do!

This is just some of reenactor-isms I use in gaming... the practical side of showing the amount of work it takes to get lump-of-ore into REALLY-pretty-and-sharp-lump-of-ore.

Pretty!!

Is there a good reason why he would have used the copper from a generator, rather than copper piping from plumbing?

I suspect it's east of use - chopping up wire is much easier compared to piping (in my experience). I also wonder about purity: piping is usually 99% copper, compared to wire which is 99.95% or higher.

Thx. I was thinking the first, but i certainly didn't know the second. Does chopping it up make that much difference?

You've got to fit it into the crucible, the same weight of copper pipe will require more space.
