daddystabz
If I wanted to use the BRP big gold book to run a game for its equipment and options but have OpenQuest as the underlying rules engine how would I go about doing this the best way? I'm thinking of how characters are made in BRP vs. OpenQuest and what I'd have to do to make this all work. Any suggestions? (I copied this from a post I found interesting over at RPG.net). ORtrail
I don't have a copy of OpenQuest, so I won't be of much help. I understand it is a fairly similar system to BRP. Since the BGB is designed with the idea of picking-and-choosing how you want to run BRP, I think you are just going to have to combine what interests you about both and adjust as needed. I doubt anyone else has tried to do what you are asking about. In fact, I would expect that if you asked 10 different gamers how they ran BRP, you'd get 8 of the 10 doing things differently from all the rest. pansophy
No idea how OpenQuest works or differs to BRP, but it would be nice if somebody might point out what the main differences are. Quote My Uploads - BRP and new: Revolution D100
Kairos
It's cool, and you can download a free version. The main differences are a condensed skill list and a less fiddly modifier approach (instead of lots of +/-5 or +/-10, most modifiers are more like +/-25 or +/-40 -- if there's to be a modifier, it should be significant). 1d8+DB
The main thing is of course OQ uses Resilence and Persistance rather than the Resistance Table. The skill list is pretty much condensed. Also, OQ uses price lists.
hanszurcher
The lack of Resistance Table always trips me a bit, being so used to Call of Cthulhu. I play RuneQuest/Legend myself, but they are very similar to each other...OpenQuest being derived from the Mongoose RuneQuest SRD. Here are the links Newt posted yesterday. Very useful if your looking at the differences between OpenQuest and BRP. D101 Games » ContentsAnd this very helpful Quick Reference sheet.
