  1. Indeed I have considered this as well and am tossing around the idea of making APP more of a fluid characteristic. Just got out of bed after a bender? Penalty Just finished brawling in a pig pen? Penalty Successful Disguise roll applying makeup or fancy new clothes? Bonus! Also thinking about using the APP score by how many points away from average the score it. As example if the PCs APP is 16 (8 above average) they get a bonus to social skills involving persuasion and a penalty to Intimidation. I dont know. Like I said I'm tossing it around in my head. Might toss it out all together๐Ÿ˜€ I've read a lot of pros and cons to using APP. Would like to hear opinions here.
  2. I'll be honest. I haven't much looked at Mythras, though it is highly acclaimed. Right now I'm sticking with BRP. If this Quasar project takes off I'll likely put out lots of material for it. Afterwards? *shrug* I dunno
  3. Thanks for your kind words. Magic World was also my first dip into BRP and will always be my first love. I also miss the days when MW was a hot topic of discussion. Without the awesome people in the forums taking time to patiently explain not only the mechanics but the intentions I would have been lost.
  4. I haven't completely fleshed this out yet but as of right now it's like a ranged social attack. The way appearance affects people is in first impressions, before there is ANY social interaction. When you approach an NPC, there would be a roll to determine their initial reaction/impression of your character. A good result will set a lower difficulty for subsequent social skill rolls, and a poor result will increase the difficulty. Your appearance modifier applies to this initial reaction roll, so a very beautiful person will find people easier to convince or manipulate or be willing to be friendly. A less beautiful person will find more people unwilling to talk and being generally apathetic to hostile. A really good charisma could overcome this, but they will be starting from a disadvantage.
  5. It's out! https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/459723/QUASAR?affiliate_id=810507 Making some progress! Gonna post further updates over at BRP part of the forums since this isn't a MW supplement.
  6. ** PDF CORE BOOK NOW AVAILABLE AT DRIVETHRU RPG! ** https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/459723/QUASAR?affiliate_id=810507 QUASAR FB PAGE ** QUASAR STAR SYSTEMS IS NOW AVAILABLE ON DTRPG! ** (had a little hiccup in the formatting ๐Ÿ™„) https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/463491/QUASAR-STAR-SYSTEMS I've placed a color and printer friendly version of the character sheets in the files section for convenience! https://basicroleplaying.org/files/category/55-other/ With the release of the shinier BRP Universal Game Engine and Chaosiums very forgiving attitude for third party hijinks I'm contemplating releasing a sci-fi world. Have actually been working on it for about 6 months and have 3 or possibly 4 books planned. โ€ข Core Book (release date Nov 10) โ€ข Star Systems & Races of the Galaxy โ€ข Starship Identification & Construction I've never profited off of Any of my other books but am contemplating it with these. It's been a LOT of work. Here are some samples as I've been making excellent progress:
  7. Anyone wanna tell me how to monetize a product? ๐Ÿ˜€
  8. Not Magic World related but.... With the release of the shinier BRP Universal Game Engine and Chaosiums very forgiving attitude for third party hijinks I'm contemplating releasing a sci-fi world. 9. I like the idea of driving out the possessing spirit in spirit combat. Be similar to undead turning in other systems, just not to the same scale
  10. Guess I'm thinking too much into it. I look at Animated Abomination in Advanced Sorcery and they have a CON score yet they "work tirelessly." Would make more sense to give them more AR or other form of defense. I'm attempting my own game world and system based (MOSTLY) off BRPs SRD and trying to make more make sense. The wraith has no skin on their bones but they have a CON score in Advanced Sorcery. Maybe I'll change it to where sentient undead have a CON score but animations not so much... Comments?
  11. Am curious why some undead have a CON score (vsmpires) while others do not (skeletons) Working on a new project and this question popped up. I'm tired and been drinking and don't wanna search it up๐Ÿ˜€

  13. "Is there anything Magic World doesn't do that D&D does?" Charge you to say their name aloud? I may get a bill for texting the acronym ๐Ÿ˜€
  14. Coincidentally about a month ago I told my group we were gonna switch from 5th edition back to Magic World. D&D always has the same problems, regardless of edition. I really liked 5th edition for awhile but....BRP is just better IMO
  15. So with Wizards new OGL fiasco, who thinks it's time for Critical Roll to switch to Magic World? ๐Ÿ˜Ž Anyone here buddies with Matt?
  16. I would point out magic item creation is better spelled out in D&D, with the exception of the Wizards Staff in MW and some smaller power items in supplements like The Witch. In the MW campaign setting, magic items are rare
  17. A Lot of the content in this thread deserves its own thread ๐Ÿ‘
  18. Been pushing for MW on Herolab as well. Closest they got was cthulu with some BRP tabs.
  19. The material/supplements I've created (that are allowed here) are located on page one of this thread ๐Ÿ‘
  20. Updated my Magic World Character Generator to version 2.0! New sheets, lots of fixes and additions. Cleaned it up. Added abbreviated spell descriptions to spell lists Added a few coins from other systems. Platinum, copper, tin and auto fill for exchange rates Autifil weapon and armor stats Added Feats from my Feats Supplement (but you can delete this sheet if not using it) Also added a printer friendly version of the character sheet. Not as pretty but less ink
  21. How is this useful? TRUTH OF LOVE (3) Range: Sight and hearing, to a maximum of 100 yards Resisted: MP:MP Only those with allegiance to Light can learn or cast this spell. Matching MP:MP on the resistance table, the caster causes the target to express or realize that which is dearest to him or her: a person, animal, honor, decency, money, fighting, an allegiance, getting drunk, Light, Shadow, and so on. Once the person has expressed that love, he or she is unable to think of much else until Undo Magic or similar effects erase the compulsion, or until 3D3 days have passed. Adepts of Light are taught this spell.
  22. Same question about Attack skill %. Are they chopped up because of multiple attacks in a round? PAIN DIVINE (4) Range: Self Resisted: No When cast, this spell sets all of the nerve endings in the casterโ€™s body alight with eldritch energy. The sensation makes the sorcerer jumpy, jittery, and full of energy. While in combat, every time the sorcerer is injured (that is, a hit that isnโ€™t parried or dodged, and damage gets past armor,) he or she may immediately make an extra attack at the party responsible for the injury, as though he or she was riposting with a critical parry. Also, more than one extra attack may be made this way. Note that this spell takes precedence over any actual ripostes, and the sorcerer can only make extra melee attacks (no missile weapons) at the party responsible for the injury.
  23. I assume this lasts POW in combat rounds? Thats pretty impressive since it doesn't require a resistance roll. Yeah? REFLECTION (9) Range: Self Resisted: No This spell blocks magic otherwise affecting the Sorcerer, mirrors it, and sends back the intruding magic to its caster. The reflection magic operates at full strength against its caster, who functions as target. However, each time a spell reflects back from Reflection, the Magic Points powering reduce by one. At no time does Reflection work against spells powered by more Magic Points than it is. During that time, it affects all spells, friendly or not, in the same fashion.
