  1. Does Chaosium actually have a presence on this forum?
  2. Not to get sidetracked, but I preferred the original 'golden era' cover rather than the one that was used.
  3. At the end of the day it's all about a lack of product on the shelf.
  4. Do we have a release date yet?
  5. Can someone provide a link to the original source of the rumour of the hardback; seeing is believing and all that....
  6. Talking of how influential artwork can be, any information about, or previews of, the artwork in the book? I'm really hoping that the artwork is top drawer. In a perfect universe it would be of the caliber of something like the vintage 'Skyrealms Of Jorune' art. Well, one can hope....Nothing can so clearly evoke the atmosphere of a setting, or indeed sell a book, as much as great artwork.
  7. intrigued to know what you mean by 'without much luck'.
  8. Interested to know if anyone has converted or is planning to convert the new HQ2 material to BRP?
  9. Hardback. With the originally commissioned cover art.
  10. Any news on a hardback edition?
  11. another reason to hold off for the hardback..
  12. I guess everyone has their own taste but to me it looks pretentious, geeky and not that well-drawn. I prefer lavish colour art that captures the imagination and that can develop into an imaginative 'look' over the whole line of a product. Like I said the original colour art also had a 'Golden Age' feel to it that was warm and positive. Still can't wait for the book though.
  13. Can I have my copy with the original full colour "Aztec-meets-UFO" cover please...
  14. Sorry but the new cover looks very tacky to me.
  15. Shame - as I said, I like that cover.
  16. Good news. All the BRP players that I've ever played with (RQ III to be exact) believe that it is the realism of the hit location system (along with the strike rank procedure) that sets it apart - head and shoulders - from other games. I only hope that these key elements are not relegated to optional extras in future supplements. But looking at the contents table for BRP it looks like I shouldn't fear any such 'dumbing down'.
  17. I liked the original cover art. It had a classy/classic 'golden age' feel to it.
  18. That's great news. I stumbled into this forum today - it's the first that I've heard of the new version of BRP. Looking at the previews has, after some eight years off, actually got me excited about RPGs again. Here's hoping that the art and layout of the product line are up to this high standard. Nothing puts me off purchasing more than poor illustrations and layout (see Mongoose's appalling RQ line...). Great illustrations can really inspire play. Anyway, I seem to have hijacked my own thread. Eagerly awaiting future Chaosium developments.
  19. As far as I can tell the new BRP is softcover only. Why isn't such a key book being released in hardback?
