After 1961, my Investigator characters always try to get their hands on the BGADS, better known as the Davy Crockett.

Ask a question about a high-capacity semi-automatic pistol and get replies about shotguns, grenade launchers and nuclear weapons. Talk about escalation!

What would you expect in such a book? Character creation rules or rather keyword suggestions for various regions of the world?

I suppose that what I'm looking for is what was in the HeroQuest: Glorantha main rulebook; rules and cults for Dragon Pass characters. Or would that be included in the Dragonrise book?

Interesting. The main reason to not drop to d10 is that ties are unhelpful  in QW, and that halving of the roll space quadruples their likelihood (Differing ratings make it a bit more involved than just 1/400 vs 1/100, but it's proportionally similar. )

Actually it only halves them from 1/20 to 1/10 (which is still significant, IMO.)

I can only speak for HeroQuest Glorantha, but we did try to make sure the mechanics were the same even if the narrative clothing was different.

There are still a few instances of rules differentiation. Spirit Magic strikes me as being too complicated with all it's circumstantial bonuses, for example.

Personally I wouldn't change the ability of players to hang magic from different places as it makes for interesting hereos.

    That I agree with.

  5. So far all editions of Hero Wars/HeroQuest/Questworlds have mechanically distinguished between the different forms of Gloranthan magic. I'm thinking it may be better to simply use exactly the same game mechanics for all of them. Any thoughts?

Standard Human stats in every way.  Except, perhaps, EDU if you're using it.  Resist the urge to treat Neanderthals as "monsters" -- they're people, not orcs.

    !i!

That’s not incompatible with giving them somewhat different stats from modern humans.

I think you misread Joerg there (I believe it’s Joerg?).

Definitely misread. The full quote for context:

Is it woke? Not really. There is no sexual dimorphism for human characters, although occupational/cultic choice of elemental runes might result in one or two characteristic points confirming some bias. There are few cults with hard gender restriction (although for instance an earth priestess must have given birth to a healthy child to become eligible for the position, something most males have a hard time to achieve).

  8. Agree with the other posters that differentiating the magic systems on the rules level is probably something better left to more tactical games such as RuneQuest.

One thing I would like to see is a return of the one-use magic rules from the core HQ 2.0  and Sartar: KoH books as this would allow cultures such as the Malkioni and Pelorians who don't initiate all members of society access to magic.
