  1. Awesome, Chaosium needs To make a lot of Classic Fantasy adventures because they make the best adventures in RPGs.
  2. When is the second book coming out? Also, there needs to be some adventures too. Chaosium makes the best adventures. In Search of the Trollslayers was awesome.
  3. Chaosium makes some of the best fantasy adventures I have found. Stormbringer had some adventures I really liked and In Search of the Trollslayers was excellent. I hope the Classic Fantasy book will spawn some adventures.
  4. I have played Stormbringer/Elric! a while back and I really enjoyed the atmosphere because it was so dark. The bad guys weren't necessarily out to kill you because they were so evil, they killed you because they cared little to nothing about you and only bothered with you because you were in the way. Also, the Pan Tangians were truly horrible people and they really made the gameworld grim. So there are many things I really like about playing in the Young Kingdoms but one thing I would would be to have more monsters so I am thinking that maybe the sorcerers could have opened some gates to the Dungeon Realm and let in loads of monsters and races of humanoids. I would think that in the Young Kingdom most races would greatly fear the Pan Tangians and Melniboneans who would likely be very cruel towards halflings, elves and gnomes. The dwarves may be far enough away in the mountains while the goblinoids would likely be enslaved or exterminated. The drow and duergar may get along with them however. And the loads of monsters would give endless adventure opportunities. Anyway, I am curious about how to combine these two. And if anyone has any ideas what would happen to the Temple of Elemental Evil if it were set up in the Young Kingdoms then that would be really interesting to me. And even more interesting would be what would happen if the Giants/Drow series were to be in the Young Kindoms that would be fun to read about too. Thanks.
  5. One thing I would love to see would be some dark fantasy elements for Classic Fantasy. I really loved Stormbringer/Elric! and something along the lines of the adventures in those books would really interest me. Pan Tang and the Melniboneans were truly awesome.
  6. Well I hope you get the 2nd part of Classic Fantasy done soon! Anyway, the adventures that Chaosium makes are really awesome to me. I used to play Stormbringer and really thought the adventures given were very well done and the same is true of In Search of the Trollslayer. So I would buy any Classic Fantasy adventure made by Chaosium because I know the quality will be very high. Hopefully there will be some adventures with Nyarlathotep or Cthulhu too. Thanks
  7. I am curious about how long before the 2nd volume of Classic Fantasy can be purchased? I really enjoyed the first one and am waiting for the second. Also, I would really love for there to be some advenutures written for Classic Fantasy because Chaosium really can make a great adventure. I bought In Search of the Trollslayer and I thought this advenure was really awesome and would love many more like it. (I know it is not Classic Fantasy but it could be used in Classic Fantasy) Anyway, I am just curious, thanks.
  8. In the concept I have, the gods of humans, elves and other fantasy races are newer while the Cthulhu gods are part of the primordial chaos. Mortal races will go insane if they see the Cthulhu gods because they are so far beyond comprehension that they destroy the minds of mortals. The magic in the world that wizards use is less powerful than the Elder magic because Elder magic is not really magic at all, rather the true way the multiverse works. That said, the Elder gods need to be amped up to scare high powered fighters, magic users, clerics etc. There are evil monsters like demons and undead but these are the result of the split between the gods of humans. It is thought that the Elder Gods were the ones that engineered the split so that the gods would be divided between good and evil so as to allow the gods to be weakend so that the Elder Gods can return into the world easier. The main things I am looking for are artisitic description and how to relate Cthulhu things and demonic things. The Cthulhu things most likely are beyond good and evil so they care little else than destruction while the demonic things like destruction but they also want control and evil power over the universe. The demonic things would use the Cthuhu things to aid in their expansion of evil but since Cthulhu things are impossible to control the alliance usually ends in chaos with the good gods battling the Cthulhu things in order to save the world. This is what I have so far...
  9. I an using the Classic Fantasy source book which is basicaly AD&D done with Basic Roleplaying rules but I want to add in the Cthulhu mythos as well. The world has orcs and elves , demons and dragons and magic of many types but I still want to keep the bleak hopeless feeling of CoC. I guess the magic items of the Coc world are the most powerful and one day when thestars are right the Elder Things will return and destroy the world. But since there are the fantasy heroes, they can at least delay their return if not outright stop them at least for another day. There is true evil in theis world in the form of evil gods, demons and devils but they are sort of newbies because the CoC things are far more ancient. So there are two terrible forces in this world, evil and CoC monsters. This is the set-up I have so far and if anyone has any ideas on how to expand this then it would be really helpful. Thanks.
  10. I understand about the ned to not reprint rules over and over. But truth be told one thing I hate about GURPS that it constantly references many other books so that is why I am leaning more towards the Basic Roleplay system because there seems to be less book flipping. But anyway, I enjoy Classic Fantasy so far.
  11. Great! In Search of the Trollslayer was the reason I bought Classic Fantasy. The art and feel of the adventure was awesome. I would also like to add that I would love to have all of the rules for playing characters in the Classic Fantasy book so that I don't have to look through too many different books to create characters . I would pay extra to have everything I need in one location. Thanks and good luck with the second in the series!
  12. So far I really like the Classic Fantasy book but one thing I miss about old school AD%D is the Law and Chaos stuff. Chaotic Evil was a great bad guy alignment because they brought destruction and laid waste to the surrpounding lands. It also had a lot of possibility for this sense Chaotic evil in the world. I guess in a sense Chaotic Evil was sort of the artistic way of evil. On the other hand Lawful Evil tried to oppress people with cruel laws and hopelessness. I thought these two types of evil were good for the game because that way evil was divided and would fight against itself. On the other hand Lawful Good and Chaotic God got along but Lawful good felt by being organized it would maximise goodness while Chaotic Good maximised freedom to achive goodness. In any case, I just wonder why there is no Law and Chaos in Classic Fantasy.
  13. I picked this adventure up and I really liked it. Chaosium always has really good adventures especially the Stormbringer ones. In any case, with the release of Classic Fantasy will In Search of the Trollslayer be undated to fit into the Classic Fantasy format? I would be willing to pay extra for any updates. Thanks.
  14. One thing I think you should include with the Classic fantasy book is to have a lot of mythical creatures, items and other noteable heroes. For instance having lillatu (children of Lillith), items like Excalibur and maybe some demigods or immortal heroes like Chiron (the centaur sage from Greek myth). If there is more connection to myth then you can add a lot of other monsters from other source books. For instance you can many different types of vampires from different myths so that players don't know immediately how to kill them. This really adds mystery and excitement to the game. There are many different types of nymphs and some like the lampades who serve Hecate who have torches that make mortals go mad. Just my 2 cents...
  15. Great! I have all of the GURPS DF books too. I will say that I feel you have better captured the old school feel of AD&D than the GURPS books have. As far as the Lejendary Adventures go, I have quite a few books of them. I was very interested in the Utiss (the dinosaurmen) but there was never too much info. I would say though that there sure are a lot of cool monsters in Lejendary Adventures that would fit in well with Classic Fantasy. Stormbringer is one game that I really liked but I don't know how it could be incorporated into Classic Fantasy. Anyway, I can't wait until the next book.
  16. A very good outline for how to do dungeon delving with a skill based system would be GURPS Dungeon Fantasy 2 Dungeons (the other GURPS DF books are useful too). I also recommend the Lejendary Adventure books which were written by Gary Gygax. The rules system is absolutely terrible but there are tons of great ideas for monsters and so forth. Anyway, good luck with the second book.
  17. I do want to say one more thing I like about the book. I really enjoy the descriptions of the humanoid races and also the clerics with real world gods. This is the most useful stuff for me. I want to have a lot of information on how to incorporate many different deities into one game world and also how to have Cthulhu style horror in my dungeons. Chaosium makes the best adventures and I would love to have some for Classic Fantasy. Stormbringer was one of my favorites along with Pendragon. In Search of the Trollslayer was a very interesting adventure too. I hope there will be a lot of adventures for Classic Fantasy.
  18. But Nyarlathotep was part of D&D in the name of Tharizdun. The Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun was one of the strangest and most unique adventures I've ever played. Also, the Elder Eye in the Hall of the Fire Giant King and the Vault of the Drow was a sort of avatar of Tharizdun so Lovecraft was alive and well in the early D&D.
  19. I just bought Classic Fantasy and I can say that I really like this book so far. One thing I really like is that there are gods of myths that clerics can worship. It is so much better IMO to have priest of Odin or Thor than some made up god like Glorn the Good. Also, having Cthulhu active in a fantasy world is awesome. I hope many of the Elder Things are in the Realm too along with their sanity stealing magic. In any case, I can't wait to buy the second book. Good job!
