  1. Was any of the stuff in it republished, for example in a Magic World supplement or the BGB?
  2. Well, the first one is basically standard Magic World magic, isn't it? For the second and third one, you'd have to be more specific on how it works.
  3. However, the rules parts are pretty much included in the BGB, the Big Golden Book for Basic Roleplaying (Stormbringer's magic is called "sorcery" there, and it contains basically everything from the Bronze Grimoire in only slightly modified form).
  4. From what I have read, only 3 of those planets are actually in the habitable zone. But I'd say it would be interesting to imagine a system with 3 live-bearing planets. TRAPPIST1 is also a lot older than our sun, if I am not mistaken (most red dwarves are). So more time to have developed life, even intelligent life. Then again, we don't know what the chances for the development of either are.
  5. Depends. When using hit locations, fixed values are fine. But when not, I really like the armor roll.
  6. I don't believe anyone doubts that Howard died more than 70 years ago, which is a sufficient requirement for it to become public domain.
  7. Well, in the case of "various tools for the same task", you could simply subsume all alike skills (such as all melee weapons) under a single skill ("melee combat") to avoid weapon-swapping. Another solution might be to make skill rolls and success with them so relevant that players simply cannot afford such actions, or declare that whenever they feel weapon swapping is doable, the stress cannot be that much, and thus no experience checks are gained from this fight.
  8. It comes down to what you want in your campaign. If you want to have fast improvement, then allow the rolls more often - if not, then not. If it is realism you are looking for, I would say the by-the-book rules cover that, but you could add a rule for forgetting stuff you don't train. But for an RPG, I must say I tend to prefer player choice over "roll for what you used". Not because it is realistic, but because it is better for what the player has in mind for his character. I'd even go so far as to give out percentage points as "experience points", and skip the whole "experience roll" altogether - which would mean that point distribution during character creation and point distribution during character improvement would be the same. So I'd prefer to give out, say 10 percentage points at the end of a session, and the player just adds those to the skills he chooses. Sure, that removes the diminishing returns inherent in experience rolls, but I believe that's worth it.
  9. But isn't a grace as such below the detail resolution of BRP anyway? In other words, not even 1 point of damage would be low enough to represent a graze. I'd rather depict grazes and superficial wounds by saying "if the attacker rolls 1-5 above his to-hit chance, it is a grace. No actual damage, but it hurts a bit and might infect".
  10. My suggestion would be to use limited durability of prepared potions, so that the player can have this interesting way of doing magic, but cannot stock up on it too much.
  11. Everything that was written by Howard himself is public domain by law. There are Conan stories by other authors which are not, but you don't have to use them.
  12. Well, Howard's works are public domain, so there wouldn't be any need for a license. They could just do it. Eternal Champion seems to be Chaosium's plan, so it would be unwise to try that and drive up the price for the license. Newhon? That doesn't seem to be that big of a seller, considering Mongoose dropped the line pretty quickly, if I recall correctly? The other licenses you mention would probably be too expensive. I believe Thennla, featured in Shores Of Korantia and The Taskan Empire, is just that.
  13. But these things are, as far as I know, rare freak events, not regular occurrences? So you would propose to lower firearm damage, but add a significant chance for bleeding (and equivalent things) to occur?
  14. Why would it not be allowed to print out PDF's that you own legally?
  15. They didn't try to combine swords with teleporting in WW1, though.
  16. Oh, one more thing: Why not do what Chaosium did back in the day with Stormbringer, that is, look at the book market, identify fantasy fiction books series that are recently successful, but not number #1 (because Number 1 would be too expensive, and there already is a SOIAF RPG), and get that license? Apparently, in the English book market, series like "The Fist Law" by Abercrombie, the Kingkiller Chronicle by Rothfuss, or The Long Price Quartet by Daniel Abraham are nice fits for this.
  17. In the French original, the graphic novels (bandes desinées) are called "Valérian, agent spatio-temporel ", so the name for the movie makes sense. (They renamed the series to "Valerian et Laureline" only in 2007).
  18. I believe this should be googleable. Please start a thread! It's not as if this would take any mentionable amount of disk space on the server. This is quite insightful. Many thanks!
  19. I'd love to read that - couldn't find anything in the downloads section, though. Maybe you could open a thread about it? Fascinating. On what real-world data did you base your conversions? I mean getting all kinds of stats for vehicles is easy, but for animals, that is a lot harder, as far as I know.
  20. Have there been any news on this whole negotiations thing?
  21. The new formula gives us average damage. Did I phrase it otherwise? If so, then that is an error. The formula in the last column is supposed to give average damage. Or is this based on the word "MAX" in the formula? That just limits damage to the bottom, so that you cannot do less average damage than 1. On what do you base your assessment that a gunshot that has less energy than a punch (!) should do all that much damage? I suggest you propose your own formula (which really could be a variation of the above, just with a different base and exponent) that suits your taste more. The more thought-out options we collect here, the better. Looking forward to to it. Vehicle design notes? Link please?
  22. As I said, it gives slightly different, but probably more realistic values.
