  1. *evil cackle* You know you wants them both. Perhaps you could take your tent to the con? It really depends if you want to run it off the shelf or use the rules to power your own black powder setting. RD is more a developers kit for all things Early Modern - you have the rules and plenty of period info, but it is not a complete setting (although you have all the stuff you need to populate one). C&C is a complete (a very complete) setting - you get rules, all the setting info, starting adventures, etc., and there are further adventures available to purchase.
  2. Hi, 1) Straight resist rolls - the magnitude of the spell affects the power of the spell, but not how hard it is to avoid it. 2) Still able to swing a sword - although if you take a major wound it'll be more likely to kill you. Thanks for the interest - I hope you enjoy running the game
  3. Oh, go on, write it! It's not too late to post on here - we have a crazy full schedule, but we intend to keep adding to the line. In fact, I've just finished editing a Renaissance adventure today I'd love to do Napoleonics and made sure Renaissance Deluxe included the scope for it. We'll see what our writers come up with (I can't see me working solo/with Ken on it within the next six months).
  4. Have you been looking at my notes? It was always going to be a toss up between Mexican revolutionaries, the Nihang Singh or the Coldstream Guards
  5. Awesome! The more I think on it, the more I'd like to play it. I'd have probably gone for straight historical, but adding some magic and horror would be very interesting. I've read around the political history, now I might start searching out some folk tales...
  6. Point well made - a palpable hit
  7. I'm not sure if it would be too niche, but I do know the period pretty well... And writing a scenario where you get to meet Zapata and Villa? You're playing unfair by appealing to my weak spots.
  8. Thanks, Vorax I'm running Hellfire for a group tomorrow.
  9. All our games, both PDF and print editions, are on sale at 15% off from now until the 28th February! Go get ‘em! Also, our 32 page military historical adventure, “Depths of Winter”, is now available as a “pay what you like” product, with all proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project. http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/browse.php?manufacturers_id=4595
  10. More great stuff! No-one need fret that it's too late to post on this thread - I check it regularly. There are various things in the pipeline for the F&S range already, and as soon as the decks are a little clearer, we'll make an announcement updating our schedule
  11. Indeed! I really hope you all enjoy the game - be sure to let us know how it goes. And feel free to ask away, if there's anything else that comes up
  12. Yes - although many of the other factions don't like them one bit, they have bigger fish to fry (although if you wanted to be really accurate, Royalist factions could lump them in with the swamp of other independents)
  13. There are intentional inconsistencies. The Ranters, Adamites and Fifth Monarchists, in particular, are seen as an embarrassment by most of their natural allies - taking a particular facet of their rebellion too far (or offending the sensibilities of their fellow independents, such as the Puritans). Those with low RP are probably happy to knock along, but the truly devout will clash - another example, the Friends want to distance themselves from the Ranters (although they share a listening audience, etc), while the Ranters aren't hostile to the Friends, and actually see themselves as part of the same movement (as in the real history of the time, albeit compressed for inclusion). It's complicated - Christopher Hill writes comprehensively about all the competing factions of the time, personally I prefer his description to his analysis. We've tried to highlight the closest allies and most pressing enemies for each Faction.
  14. Clockwork & Cthulhu is back in print! Clockwork & Cthulhu joins the other Renaissance D100 system titles (including Clockwork & Chivalry, Renaissance Deluxe, Dark Streets and various other titles) by Cakebread & Walton, now available POD from Drivethru. Available in hard or soft cover. http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/103450/Clockwork-%26-Cthulhu
  15. Hi Folks, We're glad to announce that Dark Streets and Hellfire are now available in print from Drivethru Dark Streets pits the Bow Street Runners against the minions of the Cthulhu Mythos. It's now available in paperback and hardback. Hellfire is an adventure for the Dark Streets setting. 16. There's definitely room for submitting scenarios and content! All the existing C&C products are becoming available via POD (we're hoping all of them will be available by the end of this week), and we have new PDF and print products lined up from contributing authors for Dark Streets and Renaissance. If folk would like to submit for C&C, we'd always be happy to discuss it/take a look at it (and possibly offer input) Anyone interested should feel free to PM me on here, or contact us via the Cakebread & Walton/Clockwork and Chivalry website.
  17. Another great review for Dark Streets (and Clockwork & Cthulhu) http://www.rpg.net/columns/abitofhistory/abitofhistory56.phtml

    Crios RPG

A new game which uses the Renaissance ruleset has been launched on Kickstarter today. To quote Jonathan M. Thompson from Battlefield Press "It is set in a fantasy world where magic is failing and technology has taken over. The world of Crios is involved in its version of World War I, complete with the tech. Art by Brent Chumley, Joel Biske and others." 19. Thanks, Vorax. Roger is working hard on another adventure for the setting now
  20. The Clockwork & Chivalry 2nd Edition Core rulebook is now back in print. Our acclaimed D100 alternate history black powder RPG is available to order now in both hardcover and softcover from DrivethruRPG. All print copies come with a free PDF copy. http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/97899/Clockwork-and-Chivalry-2nd-Edition-Core-Rulebook
  21. And very fine it looks too - we got our proof copies and we're very pleased with them.
  22. Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying the PDF
  23. Hi Steve, I'm glad you've been enjoying the series We posted news on this a while ago, saying "the next book in the series is partly finished, and we are looking for ways to take the project forward. But it has to be said that the Kingdom & Commonwealth Campaign, though critically well-received, is not proving as commercially successful as the Clockwork & Chivalry core rulebook and Clockwork & Cthulhu. Since this is our day job, we've had to move it down the priority list in favour of higher profile projects." Since then we've continued to look at ways to complete the series. We know how much folk have enjoyed playing it and we're fond of it too. If there is a solution, it won't be very quick (as we are working on other projects at present), but if there is the continued demand we might reconsider (perhaps, if the demand is there, we could fund the book via Kickstarter).
  24. Renaissance Deluxe RPG is now back in print. Our acclaimed D100 black powder RPG is available to order now in both hardcover and softcover from DrivethruRPG. All print copies come with a free PDF copy. http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/103994/Renaissance-Deluxe Over the coming few days and weeks all of the Cakebread & Walton lines will start to become available in print again (following a brief hiatus due to our departure from Cubicle 7). In the meantime, our entire catalogue is still available in PDF format from Drivethru. http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=4595
