  1. It is always good to stretch the game to its limits and find your own way of doing things. I still need to play and test the system myself before I see if anything needs changing. What I have found is that psychic powers in the big golden book are rather lacking, so I am trying to flesh them out by either converting other powers or by finding inspiration from games like Earthbound. Your weapon selection is pretty cool. I especially like the different effects and bypasses you worked in. I should try that for my own games. Alternatively, you could make it so lasers explode when hitting forcefields like in Dune, that would keep the players on their toes. Also, I am glad you liked the blaster idea, and thanks for the idea about the gas population! I was actually thinking about adapting the my setting into a book one day so this idea will really help me a lot. A low clip and shorter range will create a good variety of arms and equipment. It would be easier to use bullet shooting guns with more amo now that I think about it, and bullets would certainly still be the amo of choice for snipers, but I guess that bullets would not have the piercing power of ultra-hot phosphorus. Good stuff to think about.
  2. I know you said that you were not going the blaster route earlier, but for a warhammer 40k/star wars test game I am running for me and my brother I used blasters and came up with a way for them to work using ultra hot phosphorus pellets fired out of the gun. I am not sure how they are fired, but I think I like the rail gun/bullets idea @g33k suggested. I also made a "lightsaber" called an arc-blade that works by using a magnetic field to extract plasma from a reserve or generator build into the hilt and wrap it around a blade made of heat resistant metal. It can cut through nearly anything and even block the aforementioned blaster bolts, by virtue of the phosphorus vaporizing upon contact with the plasma. What it can't cut through, however, is another arc-blade, since their magnetic fields repulse each other, allowing for flashy lightsaber dules to occur. Now I just have to figure out how my arc-blades react to bullets and actual lasers. I did not know that being a game master required so much scientific knowledge.
  3. Wow, thanks a lot! The project is nowhere near ready, but once it is, I will be sure to let you know. Thanks again!
  4. Infinity War is the most ambitious crossover ever! Hanna Barbra, hold my scooby snacks.
  5. Wow, those are some pretty harsh restrictions, I can see why you are leaving them. You are also right that the BRP one doesn't sound nearly as bad as that, I will have to go through it more carefully later. With the website, I was thinking of making one to promote my project from once it was completed. I thought that it would be a better way to utilize the keywords, since my project is based on a public domain work and no one has made before. I will have to look and see if promoting from a site is legal here. I wish you luck on making your rule system and I hope you have lots of success with your channel as well.
  6. What was wrong with the contract? I am thinking of using the new BRP OLG myself for a project I have in mind. Congrats on making two projects by the way.
  7. Good video! I knew that CoC spells were more cosmic in nature than the standard D&D type spells, but I could never find any resources for them on the internet for me to use. After reading a lot, I came to the conclusion that they were more tailor made for the individual scenarios that being a standard list of spells. I found it very interesting that the spells are made to be more like scenes than utilities, it would make everything much more cinematic. Also, you said that you published a scenario on DrivethroughRPG, was it very difficult? Do you think promoting from a website would be better?
  8. Yep, that about sums up my tastes. When I learned about the Cthulhu Mythos, I was utterly fascinated with how strange and alien all the monsters were, they were a far different than all the villains and monsters I had seen elsewhere. For me, they seemed like the most ultimate and powerful enemy any hero could face, I thought it was a pretty epic concept. Due to my faith though, I just was not a fan of the whole lose your mind from from the sheer weirdness part of the mythos. To paraphrase Captain America, "There is only one God, and he does not have tentacles. As a result, I took the Predator approach like you said, my motto here is if it bleeds, we can kill it, and if that fails, GET TO DA CHAPA and try try again! It kind of reminds me of how H.P.L and Robbert E. Howard were said to be like together. Both liked working with mythos themed adventures, but they both approached it from different angles. Good differences make the world go round, and give us all something new to think about.
  9. I have not read any of the books, though I have read plenty about them. Once I listened to the one about hounds and grave robbers, but that is it. So I cannot say if H.P.L ever had any one using explosives effectively against the monsters, though I doubt he did. From what I have read, Lovecraft's protagonists were not the most... competent of adventures. Outside of the Dreamlands that is.
  10. Don't forget cheap flashlights with poor batteries, that is a must have. In any case, copious amounts of bullets, fire, and explosives are enough to solve any problems one could encounter.
  11. Numbers is a good cop show to watch as well, especially if you are in to a more science based show. Or, if you want something more classic and independent from the cops, Magnum P.I., the A-Team, Kightrider, or Macgyver should do nicely. I hope it helps. Although, now that I think about it, the idea of piting all these heroes against the mythos sounds prity cool.
  12. Now that is a strong cup of joe.
  13. I hope Hastur has not been kicking any puppies, because otherwise, no yellow sign is going to stop John Wick from blowing him to kingdom come. Also, now I have the image of the Phantom of the Opera trying to ruin Hastur's plays so that more people will go to the opera instead. Might be an interesting scenario.
  14. If you are looking for ideas, the various N.C.I.S. shows and Hawaii 5-0 should be the kind of stories you are looking for. Hope it helps.
  15. Not really, so much as it is one of the most (in)famous stories from the table top gaming world. You can read about it here: https://m.1d4chan.org/wiki/Old_Man_Henderson It is quite a hilarious story all and all, and it is where I got my name tag. Because of this story, there is even a scale named after Henderson to show how derailed a campaign can be.
  16. Read the tale of Old Man Henderson, that will give you all you need to survive, thrive, and maybe even kill an actual god!
  17. Unless you are fighting cultists or other humans, most mythos creatures (and those of the Nightland) don't really use guns. In the Nightland BRP OLG project I am working on, I was going to add an item called a funnel gun which could fire an intense blast of lightning/energy charged from the Earth Current that powers the Great Redoubt in the book. Though other sources both in the book and elsewhere suggest that people don't use weapons like this very much to save energy for the forceful and not to attract any unwanted monsters. Back to guns, you might not have to worry about bullets when you are walking around in a wicked suit of armor that is build specifically to withstand the horrors of the Nightland. Like this one:
  18. How about a Discos from the Nightland book. One of these bad boys can cut through nearly anything, gives of an electric charge and light, comes complete with a telescoping handle, has a power reserve that can last well over two months, and is so attuned to your psychic makeup, that it will zap any monster foolish enough to try and take it from you. A weapon like this will make short work of most mundane monsters, and perhaps even a shoggoth. The art is not mine.
  19. Then you have come to the right place my friend. We have plenty of slaying to do. Deus Vult!
  20. I did not do the art myself, but I thought it would be fun here. I got more where this came from. XD
  21. If it all works out, I may even make supplements for my project after it's initial release.
  22. I am still planning on using the OLG. I was hoping that I would be able to see another project go through before me so that I could see how to format my work with the actual SRD document, though if I am the first, that won't be so bad either. I just need to learn the game more and improve my art skills.
