Mugen
Summoning and binding, iirc. Still spells, and pretty open ended for effect. Yes, and that is a major difference with D&D-like spells, which can hardly be described as "open". I was 12, expecting something, and got something else I was not old enough to like... Note that rules for runes were available in a supplement (Demon Magic, I think), but I never used these.
Toadmaster
Well I might as well flaunt my decrepitude. I started playing AD&D in 1977 or 1978, Traveller in the same period and RQ in 1979 or 80. The 1980s was my golden age of gaming, in the 1990s I was primarily playing HERO and AD&D (our main GM arm twisted the group back to his prefered system, AD&D). If its on the list I played it enough to actually spend money on it (of course back in the day that could be two sessions). Bold means I played it a significant amount of time but either infrequently but repeatedly or a fair amount but only during a specific period of time (Tunnels & Trolls fits here, I've never played it heavily but it is a nice simple entry game that takes little prep, so its been dug out several times over the years). Bold and Underlined means it has been played in a significant quantity over multiple periods of time. Note some of the games would have been played more (or in some cases less) if it were completely up to me.
