Zantom
Hi, I am an old time D&D hobbyist (advanced 2nd edition mostly) who recently started to get back into some tabletop rpg (doing some Star Wars ffg on the side). I did a lot of searching around to find a version of fantasy d&d to get back into and really liked the Magic World concept. I bought the pdfs and have been reading through them. I have our first game with my kids and a few friends on Saturday (mostly character creation and hopefully some combat testing rounds). I was wondering if anyone knew of any youtube videos out there of some actual Magic World game play? I found a recent Call of Cthulhu game play video, but was hoping to find more specific videos to help get a feel for how the game is played. It doesn't have to be Critical Role or anything, just any sort of game play I think could help. Thanks!
Skunkape
Welcome to the forums! I have never seen anyone doing a game play video of Magic World, sorry. I'll keep a look out though! tooley1chris
Welcome Zantom! Always good to see a new convert! I've likewise not seen any play videos but can assure you, you'll have a much easier time running Magic World than most other systems. 1 Quote Author QUASAR space opera system: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/459723/QUASAR?affiliate_id=810507 My Magic World projects page: Tooleys Underwhelming Projects
Zantom
Thanks guys! And Mr. Tooley, thank you so very much for all of your materials! It really helps to feel less stifled coming into a system with fewer over all commercial products available when there are conversion projects like your monster manuals and such! Also a total throw back for me seeing a lot of the art and subjects I remember as a kid in the original works , I will definitely be pulling from those sources!
Sean_RDP
Curiously I did some searching. Part of the problem is the conflation of games and names that happens, since "Magic World" often references Magic tG. I have a group I am a part of on the facebooks who might be able to help. 1 Quote Its 2300hrs, do you know where your super dreadnoughts are? http://reigndragonpressblog.blogspot.com/
tooley1chris
If you're looking for a more D&D style feel using the simpler BRP mechanics, I'd also highly recommend threedeesix (Rods) most excellent Classic Fantasy. I'm not into "classes" so much anymore (they're too restricrive once you're use to Magic World) but there's still great old school stuff in there such as spells and class abilities . Zantom
I plan to stick to the free-form style of Magic World, but I did just now pick up this (and a few other books) on the site as I think it will help me with creating classic NPC characters for the adventures and such. They were all on sale anyway. Thanks!

You can get the PDF here: http://www.chaosium.com/classic-fantasy-pdf/ Thanks for the praise Chris. I would like to further elaborate however for those that may get the wrong impression on Classic Fantasy's "classes". CF's classes are simply BRP professions with special abilities added. They are not anymore restrictive then normal professions are. They just give a starting point based on the original classes presented in AD&D. Once the game has begun, if you want your thief to learn how to use a great axe, pick one up and start swinging it. And if you want your magic-user to be able to climb walls... go climb some walls. I used the term "class" solely for nostalgic reasons. Just want to make sure we're all on the same page. Zantom
That is what I figured Rod and why I bought the books I will present the material as options for character creation, and either way I will use them as templates for stronger NPCs. I like the modularity of the BRP system.

Mankcam
I'm looking forward to the upcoming RQ6 Classic Fantasy, that will be good fun An official critters book for MW would have been a good thing. Not sure if we actually see any new official MW products at all now Thank god for good ol' tooley1chris, who has almost single handedly kept MW alive with his supplement spawning. Deserves an award for recognition I reckon! Oops, sorry. I just noticed this. There are no magic items in BRP Classic Fantasy. They were to be included in later supplements that did not come to fruition. RQ Classic Fantasy however has hundreds of classics, plus systems of creating some cool random ones. Again, I don't want anyone to buy the BRP version looking for magic items, and then going after Chris for a refund. The guys too busy with conversions to have to fight a lengthy court battle. ;-) Rod 2 Quote Join my Mythras/RuneQuest 6: Classic Fantasy Yahoo Group at https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/RQCF/info "D100 - Exactly 5 times better than D20"
tooley1chris
Lol. Sorry. Been awhile since I did a cover to cover read. I mostly use it for spells, reference , and inspiration. CF is almost essential for converting people from D&D to BRP.
