  1. It's a historic canon thing, so to play it out of history would seem weird But if the original was re-released that does leave scope for an extension of having them be encountered elsewhere around Glorantha in the new timeline: "The Lunar Coders are back" scenario in a whole other campaign :)
  2. Bill's efforts have been superhuman in this regard. If he signs on to assist with Strangers voluntarily (as he seems to be doing) one would be crazy to pass up this offer! :)
  3. Yes, me too That's why I'm offering to do this work for them! :) As much as I am not everyone's cup of tea, also I do have a solid reputation of 'getting sh*t done'!
  4. Hi Rick I am happy to take on board helming a recreation of Strangers in Prax - definitely Lunar Coders and Arlaten anyway if you might publish them as separate releases - if that interested you? Obviously flat out busy with the Pavis stuff now, but not too busy to seek and co-ordinate volunteers for the SiP modules to get the thing started Check the thread above. Two tried and trusted heroic volunteers already putting their hands up! :) So yes just let me know if that intrigues and we can talk details. At the very least I could provide you with a Word document of proofed and corrected full content Then if you have a Word template for official products I'd be happy to do basic layout as well. It might be necessary right at at the end to have a layout specialist tweak the final layout, but otherwise I'm already going through exactly this same process with my old Pavis stuff (mostly only available as hardcopies) so I'm living this at the moment and have all the resources/helpful souls to hand Probably the simplest option is to release it exactly as it was, except maybe to provide a simple tweak of all sorcery details, explaining that it is not the definitive RQG sorcery, but is sufficiently well-formed for sorcery-using NPCs to be run in the game. Likewise with the Coders, some notes could be added about tweaking them for RQG and an explanation that things might be different in future. Plus of course as pdfs they could indeed be updated in future Declaration of personal interest. Coders and Arlaten were a great part of my Pavis campaign. Love to be able to direct people to buy these modules rather than rewrite the campaign sections. (Although it would of course take a LOT less effort to rewrite than to recreate these publications. Nonetheless they are so good I'd be glad to help get them back into circulation.) Cheers
  5. Is the problem with reprinting Strangers in Prax one of time, and person-power? Or are there legal issues/copyrights etc? I for one would be delighted to assist co-ordinate (or helm) a fan-created re-release of these three stories (well, the Coders and Arlaten) for no financial remuneration And I can't imagine I'd be alone in offering that support Possibly there is the chunky rules-conversion issue, but I'm pretty confident we'd find someone to do a good job of that too.
  6. This is awesome work. I love it. Not sure how I got here when doing a search for Praxian spirits, but glad I did. I am in the process of trying to create something like this for the 'How to turn the Rough Guide to Pavis' into a campaign. I'd love to use this, with some slight adaptations, and with you credited as primary source, if that was OK for you?
  7. So from 1621-24 Orlanth was more aggressively suppressed, and prior to that (apart from the probable banning of O Rex, it was just looked down on and maginalised What would such aggressive suppression look like? Legal banning? No Orlanth worshippers allowed in New Pavis? Making all Rune Levels outlaws? (except the specially licensed) Am I not right in recalling that unlicensed Rune Priests were being crucified? Something like that?
  8. Trying to refresh my memory about the exact period that Orlanth and Ernalda worship was suppressed/illegal in Pavis/Prax? Can someone please summarise for me. Much appreciated Also, was it vigorously enforced? I know I've read details somewhere but cant recall where Thanks
  9. Hmm, so I'm looking most likely then, based on the helpful feedback so far, probably at 140-170 pages per Vol. (Lower end if possible, higher end if needed for logical content consistency.)
  10. Fantastic; thanks for that I can work well with the 100-200 page range Great!
  11. PUBLICATION SIZES? Hi Folks Let's say someone discovered that they had a phenomenal amount of material to republish and that the page count was looking horrendous... What's a good size for a publication on Jonstown in terms of page count? IE What do people consider to be a good solid amount of pages, but not so much where people go: "I'm not buying that encyclopedia!!!" Basically I'm at the stage of starting to put it all into the new order in the volumes, and have a fair bit of flexibility from Vol 03 onwards as to what the focus/content of each volume could be Here's a text-per page example Thanks heaps
  12. Why no 'Strangers in Prax' anywhere to be found? Or am I just missing it. Lunar Coders - best supplement ever!!
  13. Hmm. Casts mind back Primary culprit is my own character 'Stifftail the Newtling'. My first actual RQ campaign was Borderlands (and later we got to Pavis). I was given the spare mercenary character who was just a named thug, so I was able to roll him up and invent details, and 5mins into play he was turned into a thin slice of toast by dragonfire. So the GM (who was the most ruthless GM I ever gamed with) said that the only other character available out here in the wilds was the newtling sergeant: Stifftail. I remember three things about him: 1) He had extremely low HP, so at the start of every combat his action would be to look for, and hide in, the closest good cover. 2) He was quite good with the slingshot, and became excellent at it, saving other PCs many times by stunning or distracting their opponent 3) Under this ruthless GM, he ended up being one of only 2 (out of an original 6) characters from those early days to actually survive the campaign! [If anyone plays GTA Online by the way, send me a friend request to Stifftail_Raqoon.] As a GM I also remember a lively Morocanth called Hovak, who eventually found the Mask of Eurmal in the Rubble and was last scene bouncing away across the ruins. Although he did return later (as an NPC) with some peculiar boggle followers at one point when the PCs needed rescuing. And finally the dwarf Kag Barak, who was a bit of a Maguyver character with a few select flintlocks and mini-blamkegs ('Dwarf Defensive Item: GR-nyd') and trip-wires. He lasted the whole campaign and I think eventually became a top honcho among the Flintnail colony
  14. I think I will go with the main settlement being on Yelmalio Hill (Middle and upper class) and a smaller (working class) residential area (where the workers lived and the stolen goods were stored) on Robcradle Island Like all the scientists and big wigs lived in big mansions on Yelmalio Hill, and the hoi poloi lived in tenements in Robcradle island, south of the processing facilities around the basher
  15. Quick question. I'm a big hardcopy fan, especially when gaming. So much more relaxing for me to glance through a book rather than scroll through a pdf. So in the companions I will have extensive references to the original material (it is a series of 'Companions' after all). And these will be to important information that I may very briefly summaries, but in many case all the juice and detail will be in the originals I will be choosing a set of originals to give page references too, and just saw that the original boxed sets can be ordered as softback books. Whereas it seems as if the Moon Designs book is no longer available as POD or any other form of hardcopy? Can somebody please confirm that as I am about to select my source for the page references and start placing them in the series as I format it [Edit: Now Confirmed] Cheers
  16. I remember discussions from way back when, about languages, and somebody (not me) came up with the excellent (I thought) idea that the EWF would have developed a whole new language based on Heortling of course, but with new concepts, and ideas, and continuing to unfold, and that this would have been known as 'New Wyrmish', and be the root language on which Pavic is based. (And has been utterly abandoned and forgotten everywhere else in the world.) So in my Glorantha the common language of the EWF and of Pavis City at that time is New Wyrmish. And yes Auld Wyrmish (possibly just known as Wyrmish at that time don't forget, since it's not yet 'auld') would be reserved for sorcerers and mystics
  17. I remember this in my Pavis Campaign. At that point all the Orlanthi PCs were also already initiates of Pavis. Each affected PC immediately joined the most useful subcult/herocult of Pavis that was closest to the cult they were in. Opili the Defender for instance Since these old herocults were slowly starting to become popular again anyway
  18. I think as I delete it all from the main volumes, just creating a loosely formatted pdf of 'HeroQuest 01 Stats for the P&BR Companion series' is the way to go. Then at some point I make it available free, or have someone convert it all to QW and release it as an extra for the series at a small cost (since it will contain spoilers!)
  19. I am considering resetting the margins so that you can take the pdf to the local big stationery store (Officeworks in Australia), and have them print, and bind it with a nice card back cover and a transparent front cover. I've done this before with pdfs and it works excellently. Pretty much turns them into books. It's proving tricky though, as the template background keeps shifting and leaving blank areas when I try this, so if anyone is a Word guru out there and can help me with this please shout out! :)
  20. For me also the languaging was confusing, so I second that it could possibly be clarified for people like me who are not fluent with what it all means
  21. Thanks Nick. That clears it up for me then. Very grateful for the assistance of all on this discussion group. Really helps with the workload of things to manage!!! :)
  22. There's the prequel Guide (Vol 01) and Campaign Backdrop/Scenario (Vol 02) both set in 894ST. Then we jump to 1619ST and start a campaign that runs until 1624ST, so good timing in connecting into the new official stuff. :)
  23. My understanding until today was that the settlement was on Yelmalio Hill and the Cradle processing facilities on Robcradle Island. But it suits my Glorantha to have it all on Cradle Island. So if there are two versions officially I may change mine to all be the one where Robcradle was on Cradle island. Makes sense defensively and all
  24. Location of Robcradle? My brain/memory says that Robcradle ruins were originally officially around Yelmalio Hill, but I am looking at a Chaosium map currently, and it clearly has them marked on Cradlesnatch Island (which makes sense) Right now is a really good time for me to choose which of those is reality in the P&BRC version What do others think/believe?
  25. OK, yes that's what I had heard about QW There are extensive HQ rules across the Companion series as it stands now, and I am about to start the edit/delete process. For instance I have extensive HQ notes on how to run the troll contests, and wonder if I should just delete them Mind you, probably the easiest answer is to delete them from the re-release series, and then just include them all as an optional-extra pdf per volume. Then anyone who wants them has that option Thanks for the info
