  1. Can't see why not! Grab a copy of Mythic Iceland and you should be all set.
  2. This was posted over on the Official Chaosium Facebook Page, thought I'd drop it here, too: Tell your friends about Magic World, and WIN FREE STUFF! We know Magic World is an awesome game, and we know you do too. We want to get the word out, and want you all to help us do this. All you have to do is tell people now awesome it is, and you'll have the chance to win valuable awesome things! "How does this work?" you ask. I'm glad you asked that; let me explain. Here's what you need to do: simply post a review, actual play, or any other sort of discussion to an RPG forum, blog, social media site, etc. Or, if you'd prefer, set up a Magic World demo at a convention or local game store. Get a discussion started somehow, and you're entered to win. The only restriction is that the format has to be public (ie: not a Facebook thread only visible to your friends) and substantial (ie: a single tweet won't get you qualified, but spending a few hours tweeting about your thoughts while reading the book will). Once you've done that, just send a link to the conversation to nick@chaosium.com along with your name. You will then be entered into the contest, and on your way to a chance to win VALUABLE PRIZES! "But what are those prizes?" you ask? Man, you sure ask a lot of questions. One lucky Friend of Chaosium will win a copy of the Magic World rules book, and the upcoming supplement "Advanced Sorcery" in both print and PDF formats! Two Friends of Chaosium will win "Advanced Sorcery" in both hard copy and PDF! Finally, three Friends of Chaosium will win copies of Advanced Sorcery in PDF! And every other entry will win our gratitude! Everyone's a winner! The contest ends March 31, and the winners will be chosen the next day, so get those posts flowing! Your pals, Chaosium
  3. Enjoy! This is the place to come if you have any questions.
  4. As far as I know, it'll be released in both formats.
  5. Bah! I can't figure out embedding a photo from my tablet. Can someone figure out how to parse the link above into something we can see?
  6. Ta da!!!!! <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/15864250@N00/13273007495/" title="image by zomben, on Flickr"><img src=" " width="240" height="320" alt="image"></a>
  7. Me either! I'm waiting for a call from Nick to let me know it's been delivered, then I'm going to run over and grab a few copies. Yay!
  8. I can't figure out where I have the most current draft squirreled away, but the last draft I can find is hitting 115 pages. My guess is it didn't change -too- much from there. The draft I've got is mostly complete, but missing a few pieces of back-matter.
  9. As soon as the Powers That Be (i.e.: Charlie) returns from the GAMA tradeshow.
  10. I was told as soon as the PTB return from GAMA. So it should be available for sale in PDF shortly before it hits retail stores.
  11. Woo-hoo! I just got word from Nick that they've received a call from their shipper, stating that AS is on a pallet and scheduled for delivery to their warehouse -tomorrow-! Which means, barring any unforeseen shenanigans, it should be hitting US retailers in a week or so. I'll be swinging by Chaosium tomorrow to pick up a few copies, and will post a photo when I do. Thanks for all your patience on this one, guys. I hope you enjoy the book!
  12. You should be able to vert on the fly, I'd imagine. Little things, really. Such as how MW uses general hit points, while RQ uses hit locations. Etc.
  13. Herbalism is the "Drugs" chapter from Melnibone repurposed a bit to make it less objectionable. Arete began as the "Ki" system from Land of Ninja, but was greatly expanded by Nick. It's now a really neat system for what to do when you start getting skills up over the 100% mark. The Allegiance stuff you mention above is in the Chronicler's Companion (which should be the next MW supplement after AS).
  14. Spoke to Nick yesterday. He said that they'd received the print proof, and he noticed a few errors on the scanning of art. So, he's correcting those, and then will send the final info over to the printer. I gather that at that time (or soon thereafter) the PDF will be up for sale as well.
  15. On the way! There's a monograph, "Horsechester" which should be out shortly. It might be at the printer right now, actually. It's got a small village to use as a home base, and then a few scenarios set in and around it. Following that, there's another setting/scenario book in the works. This one's similar to Horsechester, but larger in scope. It details a centrally-located city in the Southern Reaches, and then has half a dozen or so scenarios set in and around the city. Most of the scenarios are drawn form some of the best monograph fantasy scenarios, retooled by their original authors to fit the Reaches. I've read most of the material, and really like this one. After that, I'm talking with some folks about writing a book or two of SR-based scenarios, which could be used in your home-brew setting if you're so inclined. I should also point out that as MW is drawn from Elric!, you should be able to run any of the old Elric!/SB5 scenarios with no conversion at all.
  16. Nick just told me the book's been sent to the printer. As soon as the proof comes back, they'll have it available for sale in PDF format. So, hopefully we'll have hard copy by early March.
  17. Yes, that was already caught in the errata.
  18. I spoke with Nick this afternoon, and he confirmed AS is the next Chaosium release. Shouldn't be long now!
  19. Us famous game designers still use that old-school lingo. We were using it before it was cool.
  20. Don't sweat it. OQ sits in a great spot, IMHO. It's 100% compatible with the current version of RuneQuest, but offers a slightly 'lighter' entry point. In many ways I see the OQ/RQ6 divide much like B/AD&D might be seen. As you and I have discussed off-list, I absolutely adore OQ, and can't wait to see more done with it. Speaking of which, I -finally- got around to ordering my copy of the new version today. Can't wait to get my mitts on it!
  21. I toyed with that as well. I decided to leave it as APP mostly for consistency's sake, and because Mongoose's RQ was using CHA.
  22. In Magic World, I redefined APP almost more like a haracter's bearing, I wanted to rename it to Appeal, actually, but in the end decided not to rock the boat. The idea being that a higher APP character is simply more congenial, and pleasant to be around, whether this comes from being physically attractive, well-spoken, extremely kind, etc. This is why APP MW forms the basis of the skill category modifier for all Communication skills, as well as being at the core of the distinctive looks table.
