  1. Furthering my fiendish plan to bring back as many classic BRP elements as possible... So, "All the World's Monsters" is going to be a collection of -tons- of pre-existing monsters, plus a couple dozen new ones. I started by taking all the monsters from the Gateway Bestiary, and converting them to Magic World. Then I went through old, weird Stormbringer books, Hawkmoon, Elfquest, and lots of other stuff. Took all these critters and scrubbed them of license-specific information, and converted them where necessary to MW. Lastly, but not leastly, I got some of my BRP-head friends to write up some new monsters. Jason Durall, Nick Middleton, Charles Green and a few others all contributed a slew of cool new critters. Some from myth and legend, some from their own fevered imaginings. It's going to be a great book.
  2. I think either Horsechester or Shillingshead, but Nick would know more than I.
  3. I was actually able to track down and get permission for repurposing lots of those articles. As it turns out Dave Morris wrote the lion's share of them (pseudonymously, often), and still was in contact with some of the authors of others. So, I've got a list of which articles we can use, and which we're still trying to track down authors of (though not actively at this point). Case in point, the "Fey Magic of the Southern Reaches" article in the back of Advanced Sorcery is actually a combination of the WD article "Celtic Magic", and some of the spells from RQIII's "Vikings" book.
  4. Remember this? http://buckrogersguide.blogspot.com/2014/02/ep-204-journey-to-oasis-part-2-january.html
  5. Ka found the sacrificial organs and fingers on the altar quite delightful.
  6. SUnwolfe is correct! That's a scanning error. The "4" in that sentence should be a bullet mark. I'll note it in the errata. Thanks!
  7. I doubt it was a DEX roll. With a DEX of 29, there's no way I'd've smacked my head twice on the ceiling trying to get out...
  8. None of the other PCs had "Walk" skills, but nobody complained about that.
  9. Not to mention that Liber Ka was redone and expanded as Enlightened Magic!
  10. I'm working on a new round of edits/errata right now. I'm going to change the text on p. 53 as follows: First paragraph after “Special Response, Exercise”. At the end of that paragraph, add the following: “These characteristics also earn an experience check when the player rolls a Critical success on an associated Characteristic roll.” Under “Training Characteristics”, first paragraph, add “INT” to the list of Characteristics which may be trained. Then add a paragraph after the one on training APP: “Training INT is a matter of exercising one’s mind. Education, research, solving puzzles, and other such things can grant the adventurer an increase in INT.”
  11. Chaosium does own the Southern Reaches. I know there's more content coming out for it in due time, but I don't know if they've talked at all about doing an expanded guide/gazetteer for it.
  12. I give characteristic checks when a player rolls a critical success on a Characteriatic roll. But, I agree that this should be addressed. There should be other ways than what's in the RAW to get Characteristic increaaes. I'll mull that over.
  13. That's cool. I'm stealing your gnoll idea for my BFRPG game in return.
  14. I'm now thinking of some sort of hierarchy* between a Conspiracy of Ravens, and Murder of Crows. Like the ravens are the shifty, devious planners, while the crows are the assassins and 'muscle' of the group... Hmmm... (* - almost said 'pecking order'...)
  15. That's for crows. The collective noun for Ravens is a "conspiracy".
  16. Out of curiosity, is there a topic anyone would like to see covered in this book?
  17. My ultimate goal is to completely flip the cliche of the hoary wizard, and get a human familiar to do my bidding.
  18. Ka likes to call his version of the "Wrack" spell "Kill Cats."
  19. What's "Narcosa"? Is that like the Dreamlands, but you can only get there through large doses of laudanum?
  20. And for those who're interested, here's my character for this upcoming game: Ka Talking raven mystic “This lovely bauble? 21. It's a bunch of stuff to help you get organized to run your game. And some extra bits to make your campaign more awesomer. Right now, I'd put it in the 96-120 pp. range. Specifically, here's the table of contents from my draft: Being a Magic World Chronicler Planning a chronicle Civilization NPC DIGEST Campaigning in the Southern Reaches The Philosophical Engine & Expanded Allegiance Enchantments FORMS But wait, that's not all! I'm talking to Nick and Charlie about taking the monograph "Horsechester" (not yet released), and including it in the Chronicler's Companion. That will add information on a small town to kickstart your campaign, as well as a few scenarios.
  22. 4th edition magic is clearly the best. The guy who designed it is a genius, and dead sexy.
  23. Not surprising. WoW only ever had one printing, while SuperWorld had a few. Sadly, the last printing was -way- overprinted. I remember one DunDraCon when a friend of mine and I were tasked with the project of giving away 300 copies of SW and a bunch of supplements to help out with the overstocked inventory of it.
