  1. My sister used to play hockey at school - it could get pretty vicious by her account. Who knows what might cause problems. maybe The great Brithini Bake Off could get out of hand, pitched battle between Babeester Gor cultists hacking at each other with baguettes with embedded flint blades in. Thousands dead in the streets from sling shotted rock cakes..... Okay, I'm getting silly now. I'll stop.
  2. I don't think it would have to be a cult....but some kind of thieving organistion with specialist sorcery suited to what they do seems plausible.
  3. With a successful casting of the spell each 1 point of this stackable rune spell results in a temporary 1d10 reduction in the targets reputation score.. Actually i think I might be onto something there....many a true word spoken in jest and all that.
  4. Flaming Scads of Sarcasm sounds as though it should be some kind of trickster Rune magic
  5. I've assumed acertain level of worship for each of those, i wanted to check that ancester worship or veneration was also a possibility and not a totally mad idea
  6. And what about out in the islands ? I envisage the fisher folk or merchant families there as being very self sufficient, rather clannish and secretive bound to each by family ties and obligations and the toughness of their lives and environment. I could see ancester worship playing a large part there...
  7. Thank you, Well of daliath for both then, i shall grab a cold drink and do some reading.....
  8. Ah, good stuff, do you have a source I can go off and read ?
  9. Just ran a search on the search box but drew a blank, what criminal organisations exist in Nochet ? I'm going to just start working through the results for Nochet, but thats a lot of results, so if some one knows of a thread or article please point me in the right direction......
  10. You know when you think you've read something but you can't remember where ? I'm sure somewhere recently i saw a piece about cult distribution in Nochet. But for the life of me i can't remember if it was here, on the RQ facebook feed or somewhere else. if some one knows please point me in the right direction. On a broader note. How widespread is ancester worship in Nochet and surrounding areas. Specifically the Right arm islands ? Does it exist, what forms does it take ? Are there any published sources ( I have the Guide to Glorantha and the Gloranthan sourcebook and will be working my way through them )
  11. Do feel free to move to Alastors skull inn if more appropriate.........😆
  12. And very impressive it is too, doing some serious reading in order to do some writing for an idea i had. In other news I have ordered some steel bars to re inforce my bookshelves and a small portable winch to get it up onto the shelves 😆
  13. There was a Judges Guild supplement called book of Treasure maps ( well, there were several but it's the first one I'm talking about ) a collection of short mini adventures and locales, I always really liked it .
  14. You could just not tell her. I'm not suggesting you lie - that'd be morally reprehensible, just don't mention you've bought them. Ok you'd have to hide them and live a life of guilty subterfuge for the rest of your days, but everything has it's price.......
  15. Simply lifting the books and opening them will ensure my arms receive more exercise than they have for years. I'll be walking round the house chanting like a marine squad in training. " Lift that slipcase in the air My muscles are aching but I don't care" Move those volumes up and down My muscles are screaming but I don't frown"
  16. Ironically i ordered some of them at the weekend 😄 well the little individual ones...... I may have to reinforce my bookshelves though
  17. ......and bought the 2 volume slipcase edition of The Guide to Glorantha. My wallet won't thank me, but I suspect my inner geek will.
  18. So, i've been thinking about buying some the Stafford library stuff. I own 2 already: Esrolia, land of 10,000 goddesses and The Missing lands and am undecided about where to go next. My interests are in practical game applications, geography, descriptions of locations and towns, history, references to cults or powers that could be translated into game terms or ideas. I am NOT interested in an endless succession of self referencing mystical navel gazing where each sly reference to a topic completely contradicts the previous reference to that topic , changes the names of everything (again ) and tells you everything you previously understood about that topic is wrong..... So with that in mind what are the most useful publications ?
  19. Sorry, that's me not being very clear in what I was trying to say. I'll try and rephrase: would she be worshipped in her own right in Esrolia as one of the 10,000 goddesses quite apart from any Lunar association that there might be. Would there be a particularly independent Esrolian version of Etyries worship ? I do definately think she'd be a sub cult of Issaries with shrines of her own, but wondered if it might go further than that given the intensely matriarchal and female centred nature of Esrolia.
  20. I think it's probably because the term priests as opposed to priestesses is used. Ernalda, Maran Gor, Eiritha all have priestesses mentioned in the rule book, whereas Issaries has priests which seemed to suggest a gender divide.
  21. Etyries is stated as being a daughter of issaries and that she became curious about the Red Goddess went off to find her and ended up being the Lunar Empires premier Goddess of trade. But Esrolia is the land of 10,000 Goddesses all the printed stuff out there seems to suggest it's an intensely matriarchal land : men are loved and valued in their own right and as husband protectors, but the reins of power are clearly held by women, by Grandmothers and grandmothers and the political and religious landscape is dominated by women. That being the case it seems odd to me that Issaries - an essentially male trade god would be worshipped and Etyries a known daughter of issaries wouldn't be. the version of issaries in the rules is essentially the Sartarite orlanthi/hill tribe trade god a much more male focused society, and stepping back into the real world issaries was first dreamed up by a bunch of guys, is a male dominated hobby for a male dominated audience.... So on the YGMV principle is it possible that Etyries might be worshipped in her own right in Esrolia ( remember - female dominated country and society ) as a goddess of trade. if that's a step too far could she be a regionally important sub cult of Issaries given much more veneration in Esrolia than elsewhere perhaps ? lastly the rules don't actually state that Issaries priests have to be male do they. There's an implication but it doesn't come out and say it does it ? So would it be possible that in Esrolia we see a much larger number of female Issaries priests and initiates ?
  22. This is very much my thoughts on the matter. The beauty of it is that on the YGMV principle people can make as much or as little of it as they like - there's so much space in there for little sub cults or local Genius Loci style cults that people can let their imaginations run wild.
  23. I don't know, there's enough nerdism here that I reckon we probably could 😄
  24. Horses ? You go and wash out your mouth with soap young man ! we'll have none of that language here.
