  1. Maybe it could be a Jonstown publication: the 10,000 Goddesses of Esrolia, full cult write up for each goddess ! Granted the POD version would probably need several lorries to deliver and a mortgage to buy but hey.....
  2. I've always felt that Esrolia land of 10,000 Goddesses was an incredibly evocative name in both Runequest and Gloranthan history. certainly a very intriguing name. So it's always surprised me that so few of them have actually had cult writeups whether that be long form or shortform Runequest or Heroquest...er...Questworld I mean. When you consider that Esrolia is one of the starting homelands in RQG that seems even more odd. Now, I get that many of them may be lost or forgotten, many may be aspects of other deities, some will be small cults with only a few worshippers....but even allowing for all that it seems odd that so few have been defined in game terms. Esrolia land of 10,000 Goddesses...the clues in the name 😄
  3. At risk of sounding churlish.... a little lead in notice would have been good. Most of us only have a certain amount of geek money available each month for gaming so we tend to prioritise what we buy. The monographs have always been on my radar ( I have a good few )but other things have been higher up the food chain recently. Now if notice had gone up saying " Hear ye, hear ye ! The monographs will be retired in a month - if you want them, buy them " Then I would have rearranged my buying list to reflect that - chaosium would still have been in the money because i eventually would have bought all the things i was going to buy....just in a different order. Whereas now I'm slightly vexed and thinking why didn't they give us a last chance to buy if we wanted to ?
  4. There's plenty of islands ( Rightarm islands, God forgot and others ) and other places to hide ,lots of trade, large cities which might have criminal organisations ....so are there pirates and where might they lurk ?
  5. What about an imported gang ? One that has come upstream from the Corflu and and the coast ? Expanding into new territory. Something connected with pirates in Mirrorsea bay
  6. Did you really say what you appear to have said there......or was it autocorrect at work ? 😄
  7. My gut feeling is to say no.You should only have to re enchant if the bit with the enchantment on is damaged eg the spear head. But on a practical level how would you decide which bit of the spear took damage ?
  8. Chaotic creatures would. Lunars with their ambivalent attitudes to chaos might, possibly someone who is illuminated might.
  9. Liking it. can I suggest one further column, not so important now but if you do a master list for the entire period....Year available
  10. You don't see them referred to much and they don't seem to provide large numbers of subcults etc in the way non chaos cults do. But I take there are chaos spirit cults scattered across Glorantha providing rune and spirit spells ? Would it also be fair to assume if I buy some of the Dorastor series products from the JC that I might see some of the aforementioned cults ?
  11. You know what set me off ? It was simply wondering why animal spirits had INT and CHA and animals didn't and why there was a difference. you know how it is, one thing leads to another and before you know it you're pulling apart why the entire world works the way it does..... The difference between the 2 does still bug me though 😁
  12. Now the Survival covenant myth explains why 4 legs ( mostly ) don't have intelligence and 2 legs ( mostly ) do and why 2 legs tend to prey on 4 legs. It certainly doesn't explain everything but it does cover the ground ( mostly ). But this of course is the Praxian explanation for things and there's an awful lot more to Genertela than just Prax and the wastes, let alone the rest of Glorantha. So what's the explanation for the rest of the world. If I went to Esrola or Loskalm or Peloria and asked why animals were unintelligent and people were intelligent would I get the same story with some of the names changed, would I get a different story entirely that covered the same mythic ground ? Or would I get a strange look and people going " dude, animals have always been like that - it's just the way things are , what an odd notion to be sure " furthermorre....why did all the animals who weren't praxian animals end up like that ? All of which mythic curiousity leads me to an in game question. In the Bestiary the animals don't have INT or CHA....but animal spirits have both. The core rules say of the spirit world" it maintains a loose correlation with the middle world" p371 and on page 372 that a praxian on the spirit plane might find an area where " living, extinct, or yet to be spirits reside" Which leads to me ask why animal spirits have INT and CHA but animals don't ? If all of this has been done to death , please feel free to go it's HERE....and I'll go and look
  13. What was the event called where it was agreed that some creatures/ animals would no longer be intelligent and others would etc etc ? I've had complete brain fade and for the life of me can't remember.
  14. I don't know, there's something about the eyes of that deer I don't like. To me it suggest a broo shaman with no visible chaos features....but on the inside....
  15. I did have a read of the "what is undead" thread but remain unenlightened... They're not undead....in the Bestiary ( p99) they are described as" half dead " but not undead. The description goes on to say " they are formed when malign spirits possess a corpse " Now, P164 says of spirits " they have POW and CHA some spirits have INT" and indeed if we look at the bestiary every single kind of spirit has POW. So a spirit that has POW possesses the corpse....and then what ? It drains away ? When spirit defeats an individual in spirit combat and possesses said individual it doesn't lose it's POW. Any ideas ?
  16. Tha map for snake pipe Hollow shows several possible cave systems...and those are the one we know about. Would it be fair to say that besides the cave and temple complex described in the supplement that there are other chaos nests in the caves, maybe other buried ruins that could be explored ? What was the geography of Snakepipe Hollow before the area was collapsed, was it rural, or were there towns, hamlets, temples etc which even now are waiting to be discovered or explored ?
  17. This sounds excellent, one of the things I was always hoping would be produced was an ' Oasis of Prax' supplement, either stand alone or as part of a larger Prax Pack. So I'm looking forward to this.
  18. My apologies to Bob Calvert for nicking his lyrics 😄 But.....if you fly up into the Gloranthan sky do the normal earth rules of physics apply ? Would you start to run out of oxygen ? Would you get incredibly cold....or would the glorious warmth of Yelm cook you to a crisp ?
  19. Thank you ! So really more of a game pace/book keeping issue than anything else. I'm assuming the same reasoning applies to the other characteristic altering spirit magig spells ?
  20. My apologies if this has been asked before ( I did a quick search but there's over 2,000 entries for strength. ) but...... I was wondering what prompted the change from the old RQ2/3 graduated Strength spell l to the fixed 2pts for 8 STR version in RQG ? My own personal preference was for the old versions - I thought the RQ3 1pt for 3 STR version was about right. Would it break the game badly if i went down that route in my own games. By the same token with the other attribute enhancing spells would a return to the graduated spells ruin the game ?
  21. Ah right.....I've got a copy of the RBOM on order ( in the post ) so i didn't realise that Frost existed as a spell. Well so much for that idea then......
  22. Now, it's not often I have any ideas about spells , spirit cults etc. I'm quite happy leaving that sort of thing to those better at it than me.... But I've had this idea bubbling away in the back of my head for a while. It started when I had to scrape the frost from my car window one morning and I thought of a spirit cult or subcult connected with frost. In my head the name Frost Maid emerged and that's what I'm going to run with. Now there is a water spirit called Dew Maid down in Prax, maybe Frost Maid is simply another aspect of Dew Maid, but in My Glorantha she's going to be something different. I think she'll be the daughter of one of the winter deities: Valind, Inora or Himile, though Himile is the least likely. If it's one of the male gods then I like the idea of a female earth deity maybe Ernalda or a regional goddess. If a daughter of Inora then I'm inclined to a storm god as the father. She could be worshipped anywhere that frost happens but her cult will be small, probably only shrines or maybe she can be contacted by shamans as a spirit cult.. I' don't know enough Gloranthan mythology to really get a back story filled in but I'm working on that. spell wise I think there's two ways to go: malign in that frost can destroy crops and plants. Or benign in that there are certain plants ( eg damsons ) that prosper and need frost to germinate, also frost melts to give us life sustaining water. Anyway, all of which rambling leads me to ask, do people think this idea has any merit, if so I'd welcome your comments. If I do write it up it'll be the first thing I've put down on paper for RQG. over to you......
  23. The red book of magic is back in stock in the UK warehouse....I have ordered it.....my precious ! And also the Wurm core rulebook in the chaosium sale as it looks interesting.
