  1. And just because. Notes: Luck Points are doubled because @Mankcam said so. I like dividing skills in skill categories. This is only cosmetics and bases are as per Mythras (e.g. all Constitution skills are based of CON plus a second characteristics, no changes from the rules). I use species maximum as per BRP (21 for humans) Conan of Cimmeria, 6'3, 235, during or right after Queen of the Black Coast. He is at his physical peak. Characteristics Attributes Hit Locations STR 20 Action Points 3 Head 5/8 CON 18 Damage Modifier +1d8 Left Arm 0/7 SIZ 16 Exp. 2. Mythras and Conan seems like a match made in heaven. I would say the same regarding Elric!/Stormbringer/Magic World or even RuneQuest 3 but of the bunch, Mythras feels to be the more readily adaptable to Conan for reasons I cannot quite grasp.
  3. A slight variation on this: Roll a d100 and a d20. D100 works as normal. On the d20: On a 1 you critical or fumble (depending if you succeed or fail on the d100) On a 2, 3 or 4, you special if you succeed on the d100.
  4. Based on the preview of LotMS Jason provided on FB, I can only imagine BPR will be quite good (ok, we have only glimpsed at character creation). Classic BRP with Drives, Reputation, Personality, Connections, etc... The only thing I didn't like in the lack of skill categories. I love my SC and how they are based on characteristics.
  5. I am both excited and terrified! I've said before, the content of BGB is awesome. I hope it won't be (too) watered down. Hopefully, it will be awesomer!
  6. Well, binary is a pretty basic language, is it?
  7. True. But they might just be announcing it is coming as opposed to "it's here". Could be.
  8. Spark might refer to Gaslight but it feels like a stretch. Spark, creativity, entire universes, create, might lead to something more world building, more generic. BRP related perhaps.
  9. Since I am trying to bundle several physical orders together to save on shipping, I am wondering if I buy the PDF now, will I get a coupon to redeem against the physical book later. Chaosium was doing that previously but I am not sure if it is still the case.
  10. Just checking, if I buy the PDF now, will a get a coupon to redeem against the physical book later?
  11. Sure, but since the question comes up quite often, I thought it was convenient to have them here.
  12. 13. I would not have been excited, nor worries. Merely curious. I am nonetheless glad it is not it. RuneQuest, by far. Even though I believe it needs a complete rewrite of the combat chapter, the latest edition would be my preferred one overall. It has the benefit of being much more integrated with the setting than RuneQuest 3 or Mythras/RuneQuest 6 which would be the other two contenders in my book. Everything else does not even register on my list of preferred Gloranthan system.
  14. There are quite a few things they could announce that would be quite exciting. My bet is on the RuneQuest computer game but I would be even more excited by the first wave of the cults book or BRP 5E or Stormbringer, I am actually quite glad it is not about Pathfinder.
  15. Hi Rick, forgive me poking but is the updated core something we can expect soon (say in the next 6 months?)
  16. I personally do not mind the many books approach. I am less enthused be the many more months to wait for the first few books and who knows how long for the whole series.
  17. I have no inside information but going to printer and getting shipped to all the warehouses is something measured in months. If the Aetherworks website is any indication, they currently have Regency Cthulhu in stock and they announce street dates for CoC Nameless Horrors (March), Rivers of London (April) and the Pendragon Starter Set (June). Based on this, not before Julyfor the first releases would be my guess.
  18. That would be great. To this day, I often refer to the BGB when I want to have an additional or an alternative rule and from time to time I am amazed that the rule in the BGB is actually better or easier. BGB is not a beautiful book but it is very complete and the content is awesome!
  19. As someone who had 99% of gaming covered by GURPS and HERO for 2 decades, I can relate. Nowadays, if I had to stick with only 3 games, I would struggle a bit more. Now this definition would make my life easier in choosing only three lines! My bookshelves are broadly composed of 25% GURPS, 25% HERO, 25% BRP related games and 25% everything else... Yea, I agree with that angle. From the early days, RuneQuest (with Stormbringer, Call of Cthulhu and Pendragon) was the game of choice for my gaming group of the time and RQ3 is that game that cemented me to the hobby. But from a wider perspective, I can totally see CoC being that other game. Add to it its longevity and popularity up to these days and it has to be CoC.
  20. It's the first time I see this leaflet. It is very informative and fun to read mainly because it seems to hit all the broad reasons I always preferred RQ3 over RQ2 (but also highlights stuff I preferred in RQ2 over RQ3).
  21. Unfortunately, I never played the original Magic World but since you have the BGB and RQ3 (I am assuming you still have them), you have everything you need to hack vintage Magic World if required. For a homebrew fantasy game, I would personally choose and mix from one of these BRP flavors: the BGB for maximum hackability, Magic World (the generic Elric!/Stormbringer), RuneQuest 3 (the generic RuneQuest) or Mythras (the modernized but somewhat unrecognizable RQ3).
  22. Good point. The potential of incapacitating is probably enough for slashing as a special. Unfortunately, the Q&A muddies the water but the section you point to clearly and strongly implies that "engaged" and "engaged in melee" is one and the same. Agreed, RQ3 manages MOV a lot better than RQG does. There are a few things that RQG changes that I like much better than RQ3. Movement is not one of them.
