  1. Geek and Sundry says Call of Cthulhu is "unequivocally the greatest role-playing game ever written". High praise indeed! http://geekandsundry.com/the-best-rpg-of-all-time-is-call-of-cthulhu/

Hit Points though, are more like the way done in RQ2

    RQ Design Notes #6

The RQ3 approach is taken in all these cases! for SIZ and INT (2d6+6 added). Not using RQ2's "Defense" - it's Dodge.
  4. Our friends Pegasus Spiel - publishers of the German translation of Call of Cthulhu - have produced a magnificent designer carry bag for their new edition, embossed with an Elder Sign. It's hand made in Germany, genuine leather and very slick (Pegasus showed off a display version of the bag to us at Essen last year and we were highly impressed to the point of extreme jealousy...) The carry bag is available now, both with the German CoC7e books included and on its own, via the Pegasus Spiel web store - With books: https://www.pegasusshop.de/?thisoperationid=3&Action-Display-Detailansicht=40028G Bag only: https://www.pegasusshop.de/?thisoperationid=3&Action-Display-Detailansicht=40027G Elder sign leather wallets, by same designer (available in two colors): https://www.pegasusshop.de/?thisoperationid=3&Action-Display-Detailansicht=CTHULHU01 https://www.pegasusshop.de/?thisoperationid=3&Action-Display-Detailansicht=CTHULHU02

    RQ Design Notes #6

Yes, that is one of the areas we're addressing: characteristic bonuses are calculated in a similar way to RQ3. Jongjom: sorcery is in the new rules. We don't count it as something broken from RQ2 because, as you say, it wasn't featured there, but it certainly was broken in RQ3 or to use Sandy Petersen's quaint phrase, it "sucked toads".
  6. Here Jeff answers a key question that we get quite often -"are you using the [pick a rule] from RQ [pick an edition]?" http://www.chaosium.com/blog/designing-the-new-runequest-part-6
  7. Fortunately, now that backers are getting their rewards at last, the Kickstarter story ends well - although Greg, Sandy, Rick & the rest of us in the team know there's still a lot of work to do and appreciate the support and encouragement shown by Chaosium fans all over the world: http://geekandsundry.com/cthulhu-company-kickstarted-itself-to-death-then-this-happened
  8. Some Q&A with Mike Mason about how things are going with the organized play campaign A Time to Harvest... http://www.chaosium.com/blog/talking-to-mike-mason-about-a-time-to-harvest
  9. Good news for Canadian Kickstarter backers too - Lion Rampant, our fulfillment partner in Canada has started sending out their consignment to backers too. That means ALL FOUR warehouse locations are hard at work getting the shipments sent out to backers, and some backers have indeed already received their rewards package:
  10. More good news about delivery of Kickstarter rewards for Call of Cthulhu 7e! The UK warehouse (Kixto) has the books, has entered them in inventory, and is starting sending them out to backers in UK and Europe from today! This means deliveries for the UK, Australia and USA have all now commenced (sorry, no further news for those over the border in Canada)
  11. Great video: shared on Chaosium FB and G+ (sorry I missed this when it came out)

I don't what the copyright status of material in Different Worlds is, but that is precisely the reason why reprinting Tales of the Reaching Moon is unlikely: the editorial policy of Tales was that copyright of all the material published in the magazine (artwork & articles) is retained by the original authors.

  17. LAST CHANCE! Preorders for RuneQuest Classic Edition are closing today at Noon EDT - three hours from now... get in while you can! https://runequest-classic-edition.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders
  18. The new edition of RQ coming out later this year is backwards compatible with R2/Classic, but it is a new edition with new rules. In particular, a lot more emphasis on the Glorantha runes. Check out Jeff's Designer Notes for more about what's going to be in it.
  19. You can actually order Cults of Prax and Cults of Terror in PDF right now, at the RuneQuest Classic Backerkit page (along with just about everything else from the RQ Classic Kickstarter). But please note, we are closing off the Backerkit order page at 12 Noon EDT this Friday (April 22). https://runequest-classic-edition.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders We will be printing hard back versions of Cults of Terror and Cults of Prax later this year (along with the rest of the RQ2 product line). If you buy any PDFs now through Backerkit, we'll give you a credit on the book release.
  20. Last Chance to Preorder RQ Classic Edition...
  21. Last chance to preorder RuneQuest Classic edition! We are closing off the Backerkit order page at 12 Noon EDT this Friday (April 22). As we updated earlier this week, the books are printed and on their way to our fulfillment centers so they can be sent to Kickstater backers, then preorderers. https://runequest-classic-edition.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders
  22. We were very happy to be able to post this: http://www.chaosium.com/blog/the-stars-are-right-new-chaosium-delivers-on-kickstarter-promise Mailing out commences on Monday for Australian backers, to be followed very shortly after by US backers. The cargo has cleared customs in the UK too, so that won't be too far behind. (Sorry, we have no further news from the North on the Canadian shipment).
  23. Rick has a small surprise in this announcement for people who ordered the Old School RuneQuest pack... http://www.chaosium.com/blog/new-chaosium-delivers-on-runequest-kickstarter/
  24. Anti-harassment Policy for the Cult of Chaos Harassment of the GM, players, spectators, or anyone else, is not tolerated at a Cult of Chaos organized play event. If you are harassed at a Cult of Chaos event, find an organized play GM immediately and report it. If you ARE the GM, report it to the store owner, convention organizer, or whoever’s in charge of the space where you’re running the event. If you disagree with how a GM or event organizer implemented or enforced this policy at an event, please email our director of organized play, Todd Gardiner, at todd@chaosium.com. Please be specific about who, what, where, and when. We’ll investigate and take appropriate actions, up to and including removing the infringing party from the Cult of Chaos organized play program. You don’t have to keep playing with somebody who’s harassing, belittling, insulting, or offending others. If someone at a Cult of Chaos organized play event is violating this policy, the GM can take any action that he or she decides is necessary to stop the harassment – ranging from a simple warning to removal from the game. If it’s necessary to resolve the situation, the GM can escalate it to the store owner, event organizers, or onsite security. http://www.chaosium.com/cult-of-chaos-code-of-conduct/
