  4. On behalf of the Chaosium team, thank you for your support in 2022 as the Stars (slowly) begin to come Right again! Although the world is reemerging from travel restrictions and social distancing, and conventions are coming back strong, many of the supply chain issues and shipping disruptions of the pandemic years are still ongoing, and in many respects it's been a challenging year. We do appreciate people buying direct. It has helped the company in these trying times. Our fulfilment warehouses are taking some well-deserved time off in the holiday season – here are their shipping schedules through the new year period: NORTH AMERICA (Bang, MN): closed 23 - 26 Dec, and 30 Dec - 2 Jan. UK (Kixto): closed 23 - 27 Dec, then a skeleton service from 28 - 30 Dec; closed 31 Dec - 3 Jan. Then back to normal on 4 Jan. MAINLAND EUROPE (Black Monk, Poland): closed between 25 - 29 Dec, and 31 Dec - 2 Jan. Resume normal work on 3 Jan. AUSTRALIA (Aetherworks): closed 21 Dec - 5 Jan. CANADA: closed indefinitely. We'll be working with a new company in the new year.
  5. Now on YouTube: join Call of Cthulhu creative director Mike Mason and his All-Star investigators Harli Kane, KP, Todd Stashwick, and Omar Najam as they experience Call of Cthulhu for the very first time in 'A Night in Lonesome Darkwood'!
  6. As noted in my Casino Town Rumours, Leonardo's island hideaway is said to be located at Crab Key. I can't locate exactly where that is on a map because his fire breathing metallic turtle keeps the curious away.
  7. Chaosium has regretfully suspended its Canadian fulfilment centre operations. This is due to poor service and lack of communication from our local partner in Canada. Since shipping orders from the USA would result in Canadian customers being charged customs duties by the Canadian government, we have fully refunded all customers whose orders were in the backlog of unshipped physical items. We are doing this now in the hope that our Canadian customers will still have time to re-order any Holiday gifts they may have been waiting upon. We are looking at new options for Canadian fulfilment, including other local warehouse partners. Please note that our two Canadian distributors, Universal and Lion Rampant, are in no way affected by our turning website Canada shipments off. They both buy directly from our US Warehousing and Fulfillment company Bang/Sheridan. In fact, both recently placed orders which were shipped to their freight forwarders on the US-Canada border. Please also note our existing Chaosium fulfilment centres in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Poland are unaffected.
  8. The short answer is No. The longer answer is community content is not part of our current Rivers of London TTRPG licensing agreement with Ben Aaronovitch. Licensing agreements are by their nature, term-limited, which means when the license ends all community content would have to be withdrawn from sale too (as Chaosium owns the underlying IP for Call of Cthulhu, RuneQuest, and Pendragon, this is not a factor for community content programs for these games). Often there are other factors involved in licensed properties such as film and television rights, computer games, and other publishing agreements, that limit the scope for community content. Ben A. is aware of community content, and the door is not completely shut, but this is not something we are actively pursuing right now as we work on making the core rules a success and Rivers of London: The RPG a viable product line.
  9. What’s the weirdest thing you know about the 1920s? Mike Mason, line editor of Call of Cthulhu, shares some of the common misconceptions about the era which often creep into our 1920s games. Catch his interview with James Coquillat on the Chaosium YouTube channel:
  10. Chalana Arroy Healer: For me, it was Clayday.
  11. Here's the thing about CA priestesses - everyday life in bronze age Glorantha is perilous, and your local healer's time, skills, resources, and especially rune points are going to be constantly called upon by members of the community in need. So even if the healer was willing to perform the resurrection spell, there's a likelihood they can't, simply because they've tapped out their rune points for the time being. I wonder if any CA healers ever make it to the end of the season with rune points to spare.
  12. Update including video here!
  13. "It's always better closer to the source". If you watch the video at the link below, you'll see the (work-in-progress) results of why @Jeff and @MOB first travelled to Dublin back in 2018, and have made a number of visits since...
  14. Get our games Khan of Khans and Miskatonic University: The Restricted Collection while you can, and for only $9.99 each! Due to our licensing collaboration with Dr Reiner Knizia concluding at the end of the year, we will be withdrawing both titles from sale on December 31st, 2022. KHAN OF KHANS Khan of Khans takes the setting and denizens of Glorantha, Chaosium's well-loved RPG setting, and reinterprets them visually for a family audience. "Khan of Khans is a rare case of a game that is exactly as it advertises itself: family friendly, easy to learn, quick-paced, and offers a small glimpse into the world of Glorantha without ever feeling like it is bludgeoning you… It’s simple enough to learn easily, but that simplicity hides really clever game design…. I think you’ll get a lot of replayability out of it."—Bud’s RPG Review. 2018 ENNIES WINNER: Best Family Game (Gold), Best RPG-Related Product (Gold) $24.95 $9.99 (You save $14.96) MISKATONIC UNIVERSITY: THE RESTRICTED COLLECTION Miskatonic University: The Restricted Collection is set in Miskatonic University's Orne Library. The game features grimoires, elder signs, academic politics and madness — and that endlessly renewable resource, graduate students. "A very pleasant surprise in a package that befits much more complex products. To say that it punches way above its weight is a major understatement. A cool, simple yet demanding filler, it will appeal to both Call of Cthulhu players as well as casual gamers… The game has a very high replayability…. Just like Khan of Khans, younger audiences can end up playing this non-stop all day long. It's a great game for outings, for non-gamers, for train trips and what have you."—Antonios S., RPGNet review. 2019 ENNIES WINNER: Best RPG-Related Product (Silver) $24.99 $9.99 (You save $15.00)
  15. And here's from the other direction! Additional attendees at the Meet-Up included Pookie (Jonstown Compendium creator and prolific Chaosium community content reviewer), me, [someone I unfortunately did not get the name of], and in the foreground Jon Quaife (prospective JC creator, and erstwhile RuneQuest submissions editor for White Dwarf magazine back, back in the day). Plus Mike Mason took the photos!
  16. This Tuesday! Join first-time Call of Cthulhu players Harli Kane, Omar Najam, Todd Stashwick, and KP as line editor Mike Mason himself takes them on a terrifying journey! December 6th, 5PM Pacific, 8PM Eastern Live: twitch.tv/chaosiuminc
  17. The 'Unnatural Selections' series is our regular round up of notable Chaosium reviews worth a look. Our recent Call of Cthulhu release Regency Cthulhu has caused a stir – here's what reviewers are saying about it: "It is an eldritch truth, universally acknowledged that with strange aeons, even death may die... Regency Cthulhu has It all – Pride And Prejudice And Eldritch Horror" — Bell of Lost Souls. "I cannot help but say that Chaosium have once again set the highest of bars for their releases – this time nailing the release of an expansion to an already much-loved game... From the level of fascinating historical detail, through the delicious artwork on display throughout, to the bounty of free resources that come with the product – it is practically perfect." — 5D Blog. "Regency Cthulhu is a new sourcebook for the popular Call of Cthulhu RPG. And it does exactly what it says on the tin. The world of Regency England—and specifically here, Jane Austen’s England, which was society through a bitingly satiric lens—is about to be full of monsters from the mythos." — RPGNews. "This is one Call of Cthulhu book I didn’t expect, but I should have... Very much recommended." — EuroCultAV. "Regency manages to keep the game feeling fresh while also feeling still somewhat familiar... If you’ve always wanted to play out your Pride & Prejudice fantasy but still love the idea of dealing with horrifying abominations from the beyond, then Regency Cthulhu might be the game you’ve been waiting for. The systems that modify the original game are elegant and easy to understand without reinventing the wheel." — RPGBot. "If you want your cosmic horror with more fancy balls, tea parties, and people in crinolines and cravats, then being able to create your own “Pride And Prejudice And Eldritch Horrors” experience is going to be a very appealing and proper proposition – in which case you and your table are going to have a great time..." — GameOnAUS. "So amazing... I give this new book a 10/10 and now I really need to find a group to play it with." — Geek Tyrant. Regency Cthulhu is available now in full color hardback and special leatherette edition (both with PDF included). Also available at DriveThruRPG.
  18. And everything is about to get underway at Dragonmeet in London too!
  19. This weekend we're at two big cons on opposite sides of the Atlantic - Dragonmeet in London, and PAX Unplugged in Philadelphia — here's the Chaosium crew all set up and ready to go in Philly! Come say hi to Matt, Jeremiah, Dustin, Rick and Bridgette at Booth #3523!
  20. Last night on the way to Forbidden Planet for the Regency Cthulhu signing, Lynne took Chaosium colleagues MOB, Michal and Daria on something of a Rivers of London walking tour: Russell Square, where The Folly is located (check out Matt Ryan's amazing realisation of the building in the RPG!), and the somewhat bizarre basement of Waterstones in Covent Garden, location of the scenario “The Bookshop”– our standalone adventure designed for a first-time group of Rivers of London players.
  21. Lynne, Mike and MOB met Ben Aaronovitch for a pre-Dragonmeet lunch today and yes, that's an advance print copy of Rivers of London: The RPG that Ben is holding, one of only ten in existence. We're giving another one away as a door prize at our Rivers of London seminar tomorrow, 1PM!
  22. It's Dragonmeet tomorrow - Saturday December 3rd! Find us at Booth #54 in the Trade Hall. And: 1.00 - 2.00PM – Rivers of London: the Roleplaying Game – Official Launch and Seminar Seminar Room #2 With Rivers of London creator Ben Aaronovitch and the Rivers of London RPG creative team. 2:00 - 3.00PM – Community Content Meet-Up Novotel Main Bar Mike Mason, Jason Durall, Nick Brooke, and MOB hosting an informal get-together for Chaosium community content creators (Miskatonic Repository, Jonstown Compendium, Explorers Society). All welcome, you don't have to have published in these programs to come along. Plus, don't forget tonight (Friday Dec 2) at 6PM, if you're already in London for Dragonmeet, there's the Regency Cthulhu Book Signing at Forbidden Planet!, would love to see you there:
  23. Yes. Note, if you buy the PDF direct from Chaosium.com, we take that cost off the price of the physical book when it is out. The way that works is on release of the physical book, every person who owns a PDF bought directly from Chaosium.com gets sent an email with a special coupon code. This effectively means you get to split the cost of the book into two payments over time, plus you get instant gratification now with the PDF. Indeed - there are ten separate download files: the book itself (high & low res PDFs); plus all the GM and Player resources, inc character sheets, maps and diagrams, NPC Portrait Pack, plain text versions of the handouts, and a helpful rules crib sheet. Everything needed to play.
  24. Rivers of London: The Roleplaying Game is also available from DriveThruRPG.
