  1. The enlo might be used in mining, raising ham beetles and the like. Chern Durel has an oversupply of ancient statuary, some of which is stated to pertain to Darkness entities. Lunar goods from the caravan, Pentan from the trading posts, and Kralori by regular land trading and raiding. Human slaves from each of these and competing communities. Crops from the places blessed by the Blood Sun. Und so weiter....
  2. Since the enlo of Chern Durel are noted as being slaves, I would think that they are constantly being renewed by the uz of Dozakiland, Eristland and Koromandol trading their value kin to the humans, while eating the others!๐Ÿ˜ˆ
  3. Actually I doubt that they would, necessarily. How many British people could differentiate the dates surrounding the invasions of England culminating in that of William of Normandy? They are either forgotten or conflated into 1066, an event a mere 953 years ago, with uninterrupted records and a distinct lack of draconic disruption! Lacking the understanding of what was happening to the west of them, they might easily understand this to be a curse four years in the making.
  4. Since I am about to begin blogging re Chern Durel that was, indeed, the spur to my question. I don't think that the uz would simply accept it as a curse without someone being to blame! Since the Kralori identify the Sunstop with a mystical revelation to the Emperor, would he be a possible scapegoat?
  5. Thanks, although I was not questioning the shared effect, but rather how it might have been locally interpreted.
  6. What mythological explanations might be offered in areas without knowledge of Nysalor?
  7. However, to provide some comfort, I am about to begin a blog concerning the Kingdom of Ignorance.๐Ÿ˜Š
  8. Ahh, what it is to be humble. Indeed, best at being humble!๐Ÿ˜
  9. Some of us are fanatics in our own sweet ways. Enjoy your Glorantha. Everything else is just icing on the cake for those of us who are a bit weird๐Ÿ˜
  10. I couldn't agree more, but reconstruction of their language from Gallic and Galatian isn't so simple....๐Ÿ˜Š
  11. The Anglo-Saxon culture evolved from a sea-going culture and was profoundly influenced by others, the Scandinavians and their Norman descendants in particular! The terminology of any culture is limited in applicability, and any one selected will be of restricted use. These terms are simply RW alternatives, neither more nor less accurate/useful. Perhaps Phrygian, for a cold plateau with Mediterranean influences, as a not entirely dissimilar environment to DP?
  12. Something along the lines of Horse man. I-GO-A-DA-RA, or Igowadara Cattle man GO-U-A-DA-RA or Gouwadara Sheep man PO-A-DA-RA or Powadara as a rough guess. Possibly better rendered as Igowandaras, Gowandaras and Powandaras, but I am far from sure....
  13. I don't have my sources to hand, but these can be derived for Mykenaean Greek also. Similarly one could come up with terms from other cultures, with a decent dictionary! There is no need to be limited to a Teutonic background๐Ÿ˜Ž
  14. Perfectly true, but that is not what is being talked about with the bifurcation of the brain. That would be considerably worse, particularly if inflicted in an instant, let alone the trauma of the pain from the physical mutilation.
  15. As you stated in a thread relating to 'dragonewt wierdness', to gain any such understanding would at minimum require the splitting of tongue and brain. The trauma of this being imposed instantly would certainly cause mental damage, if not death.
  16. If you want to look at RW religious repositories, it is worth searching for Ancient Near Eastern Texts relating to the Old Testament, which is available on line. For secular, look at the Hittite foreign office archives, or the Knossos & Pylos tablets.
  17. Writing must also be understood in the context of carving - an Egyptian temple such as Karnak carried a wealth of (heavily biased) political as well as religious material. Maranaba's walls, for example, could be a remarkable record.
  18. If broos could fight alongside Praxians at Moonbroth, maybe we shouldn't impose such a hard division between Chaos and others. Are we adopting an Orlanthi prejudice without a proper critique?
  19. I would anticipate that Ethilrist would have a considerable collection.
  20. Absolutely. My thought was that there is no need for such a group to NOT be Thanatari!๐Ÿ˜ˆ
  21. Since head-hunting communities have been quite common and well established over the millennia in the RW, I can easily see them in any environment that isn't readily accessible to anti-Chaos fanatics in significantly large numbers.
  22. Back in the 'good old days' of Thunder Rebels and Storm Tribe, Vinga had a Protection Rune which appeared as a modified Earth rune. Surely there is some potential in using Ernaldan runic powers in just such a fashion? When 'Going Vingan' the cultist accesses different interpretations of the same feats, and if/when she returns to her previous role the interpretations return likewise.
  23. Similarly many of the Uz deities/spirits have a burrowing aspect. If the scorpion folk create nests similar to RW scorpions then there could be possibilities there as well.
  24. Do the multiple heads have separate stomachs? If not, I dread to think of the digestive issues of the Hound AND the Bat in there.....
  25. That is the Orian myth, but it needn't stifle others. Given their nature they may have multiple origins.
