  1. A chance at two parries at full % yes, but I don’t think the new RQG rules intend that you have to forgo your attack for a parry with two weapons. That feels like a hangover from RQ2 where the number of parries was limited.
  2. In the new RQG you don’t sacrifice a parry in place of an attack. Parries are reactive and stand outside of the strike rank system. There is no limit to the number of parries, only a cumulative -20% That’s why I think the lifting of the text from RQ2 on fighting with two weapons is misleading. It indicates a limit on the number of parries possible where there shouldn’t be.
  3. I guess damage to parrying weapons is a real threat in RQ, with the possibility of weapons breaking. So parrying with a second weapon will keep the attacking weapon healthy. The rules as written do suggest a cumulative parrying penalty for each separate weapon. However my own personal approach may differ, favouring simplification to a single cumulative penalty for all weapons. You're right. I'd forgotten about the ruling on the 2 weapon use. It's clearly repeated and stated in RQG as well. To me this reads oddly, and may be an error? It doesn't feel like its been properly integrated with the new ruling on parries, as the wording is the same as it was in RQ2, when parries were limited to one attempt per round. There is now no limit to the number of parries per melee round. In light of this I see no need to state how many parries are possible with 2 weapon use, as RQG allows multiple parries with each weapon ( per attack) Perhaps the wording needs to be changed? Maybe @Jason Durall could comment? Edit: basically what I’m trying to say is there is no need to state how many parries are possible with 2 weapon use in the new RQG. Instead perhaps just an extra clarification of whether the culmaltive -20% parry penalty applies separately for each weapon or regardless of weapon used.
  4. The RQG rules say that a parry does not use a strike rank, so you can attack and parry with the same weapon in the same melee round. The -20% penalty is a way of balancing out the new freer use of parry. So by this logic a two weapon user would be able to attack with both weapons (if enough strike ranks) and parry with both.
  5. This is a good point. My initial feeling would be to go with the simpler implementation of a cumulative - 20% to all further parries after the first no matter which weapon is used, as it would be easier to track. However the description only specifies the one weapon in regards to the cumulative parry penalty, which would imply that a second weapon or shield's cumulative penalty is calculated separately. This would make it very advantageous against multiple attacks to have a shield and sword or two weapons combination. Though not forgetting as Furry Fella points out, only one parry per attack.
  6. Looking through the blog entries I was reminded of the rather wonderful looking RQG character sheet. Not in the new core book, what happened to it? https://www.chaosium.com/blog/designing-the-new-runequest-part-21/
  7. Info on the GM pack here: https://www.chaosium.com/blogdesigning-the-new-runequest-part-23/ Cant find anything on the GM book...yet
  8. I'm really liking the integration of the Runes in the new Runequest. It succinctly brings conceptual aspects to the fore right into the mechanics of the game. For instance the appearance of Aldryami. I imagine the stronger the man rune the more manlike the appearance. Particular helpful when dealing with outsiders.
  9. Marvellous. The dragonnewt looks majestic. When can I buy this?
  10. *Screeches back into the forums from 2047 in his Delorean time machine , with his crazed enthused scientist appearance* Guys you're not going to believe this! Its RuneQuest, theres' new adventures and everything! Its Awesome! D&D have licensed the RQ OGL to produce their own game in an attempt to stay popular!
  11. Marvellous - building a wealth of inspiring Gloranthan art. Nice to see justice done to the plant people. The drawings are really nice too. More!! *Jumps in time machine to tell younger self with newly purchased Elder Secrets, not to worry everything is going to be ok*
  12. The RQ Bestiary, which will be available very soon, has the information required to play a variety of different races. There's a 16 page preview available from the RQG product page, and we'll be sharing another big chunk of the Bestiary in the next pre-release list mail-out. Looking forward to the bestiary. The sample creatures are great. The drawings are really nice. You have an illustrator who can really describe the sense form and texture characteristic of a plantness in the “Runner”. Looking forward to seeing the elves. Nice realisation of the duck. It’s all top notch stuff. Bring on the bestiary!
  13. Thanks for the explanation, that’s really helpful
  14. I’ve never quite understood what this is in game terms? Is this refering to how RQ3 gets more specific with movement in SR’s?
  15. Good point I can't see any rule for disarm attempts in RQG, apart from as an outcome from the fumble table.
  16. Still need proper time on the excellent new RQG, but i'm really liking the possibilities and greater immersion and variety in character generation, love how its opening up Esrolia and other areas. Little modifiers to characterise different backgrounds are giving real flavour. The Bison riders are pretty cool. That being said and to keep this thread on track, I noticed that how damage is taken in the hit locations is more RQ3 aligned then RQ2. IIRC RQ2 had a flat 6pts in excess of hit points to sever or maime a limb, no matter the size/scale of the creature. In RQ3 and RQG it scales with the actual hit points in the location, needing in excess of triple location hit points. So I guess thats a nod to the scalability that RQ3 introduced in this regards.
  17. I love baboons and their monkey myths. One of the first RQ2 characters my older brother made me play.
  18. Great work Chaosium on the new edition of RuneQuest. I need to give it proper time to let it all sink in, but there’s no doubt you’ve made something very special here indeed. This is the first RuneQuest I’ve bought since RQ3 (ok I bought RuneQuest classic too). Great to see it back, both familiar and innovative. The writing and ideas are superb. Andreys Glornathan art work is just amazing. Can’t wait to see the bestiary. There’s some other really talented artists on board too. Runes and passions are really going to bring an immersive experience to the game. Really like the simple alterations to combat too, though in truth there wasn’t much needed there, the balance you’ve achieved seems right. Thanks Chaosium look forward to buying everything!
  19. I meant live streaming in general, as a spectator event. Having said that we've only ever used roll20 for our games. If that was fantasy ground they used, then I think it works better for presenting the game, particularly for a wider audience - though I'm speaking as someone who hasn't really delved into customisable options, maybe there's more that roll20 can do?
  20. Had a chance to watch the recorded RuneQuest game. Well done Jeff & crew. Had my doubts about the live streaming medium, but you succeeded with an engaging story, that showed off the setting nicely. You all worked together really well & brought it alive. Great intro. There's some new art previews too which are wonderful....not long now!
  21. Not beyond the realm of reason. On Twitter, Encounter role-play have said they're giving away 5 free pdf copies of the new RQG. https://twitter.com/EncounterRP/status/1001105268875386881
