  1. Yep - New RuneQuest, and a big statement needed. It doesn’t want to be a pastiche of itself ( though I like the QS cover) . This is truly original and distinctive. Fabulous stuff
  2. I can’t deny the QuickStart cover was great. I like that tradition of taking the viewer directly into the heat of the action fighting a monstrosity. It’s an action scene with real physicality. It worked back in the day and still works now. Though I think the new cover is very impressive and will look spectacular in print. It has great details that keep you looking
  3. By all accounts the new RuneQuest pdf release is imminent. With hard copy to follow later. I think in time for Gencon. We know layout is complete. Hang on in there! Jeff of Chaosium is Gming the official premiere of the new RuneQuest live on twitch May 28th at stupid o’clock for Europeans, but hopefully there will be a recording too. See this:
  4. Speaking frankly, this is the first time I’ve seen an artist that really captures the essence and magic of Glorantha as I imagined it back with RQ2. There are a few exceptions. As a past trio, River of Cradles, SunCounty, and Borderlands covers stood out, and also really captured Gloranthas feel. Andreys work builds on this and takes it further, wonderfully imagined compositions, beautiful draughtmanship and exceptional understanding of colour relationships. This new RuneQuest could end up being a masterpiece.
  5. Loving the picture in the Rubble, Chaosium are pushing all my Gloranthan buttons. If you haven’t seen it yet it’s worth your while signing up to get the preview. Totally getting this right Chaosium, well done.
  6. The art work i've seen so far for RQG has blown me away. I really like how a story is being told as we journey with the example characters. Such a more rewarding way of showing us Glorantha. Big impact moments like the funeral pyre atop Boldhome, wonderfully realised by the artist...More!!! The map of Clear wine is just brilliant, looking forward to having other examples from Dragon Pass illustrated, small and large settlements, including the Orlanthi further away from the more civilised settlements ( if there is a significant difference?).
  7. @M Helsdon yes I clocked that kill box...Excuse my ignorance, where does all that wonderful information come from? Is that something you’re working on, is it *official* reference material?
  8. I'm no Gloranthan scholar, but I feel we have great foothold in Dragon Pass now with a sense of the *significant* large settlements building namely Boldhome and Clearwine. Both look marvellous and make sense of the relationship to Pavis & Sun County. Like Joerg mentions i'd too like to see how more remote Orlanthi settlements are conceptualised as well. I appreciate there may be differences, what would they be? How does the architecture compare? Will there be breadth of examples of Orlanthi settlements for Gm's to pick up and run with in the new RQG rulebook?
  9. I couldn’t agree more. It never made sense to me. This new image of Clearwine makes sense, and stirs the imagination. I want to go to Dragon Pass!
  10. Wonderful - that’s why I’m two feet firmly back in Glorantha with RQG
  11. That’s a lot of good news. One of the many things I’m looking forward to is having a really strong feel for the Orlanthi of Dragon pass. Strangely past RuneQuest didn’t really flesh out a strong visual identity for the region. Ironic as it was such key place in Glorantha. I remember finding it quite difficult to get my head around at times as there were conflicting depictions, or at least depictions (RQ3 glorantha boxed set) that didn’t marry with my expectations that were informed by RQ2 rulebook, prax and Pavis. The new art I’m seeing is spot on and of a brilliant imaginative standard. Accessibility is key with Glorantha. Once you find an artist who gets it, it’s going to sell itself. Glorantha is such a rich world. @Dimbyd has an image of the new map of the Clearwine settlement on twitter. It’s quite something, worthwhile checking out. Lovely to see Dragon pass coming alive in such ancient style. Great idea to have the RQ2/3 conversion notes in the appendix
  12. I like this interpretation of Boldhome, just goes to show all that Lunar propaganda about the Sartarites being uncivilised barbarians is fake news Having got a glimpse of the magnificent Boldhome, I’d love to see the artist depict a variety of Orlanthi clan settlements in Sartar, for instance a return to Apple lane. I’m guessing they won’t be wattle and daube Viking/Saxon long houses, but mostly square stead’s in the Ernaldan fashion, built from stone, perhaps rendered and whitewashed? A bit more Mediterranean in feel?
  13. The skill of the artist is remarkable. I love the feeling it invokes. It’s epic and ancient and at the same time has a quiet calm beauty about the aesthetic which seems really appropriate to Glorantha - An emphasis on the beauty of the natural world (spiritual man!). Every shape is considered, noteably the flame and smoke from the pyre is brilliantly conceptualised. The atmospheric perspective creates a believable world without it having to be overly naturalistic. It’s an imaging that fits with what I’ve been looking for. I’m sold (yet again!) Hats off to Andrey fetisov, Mr Glorantha. I hope to see a lot more of his work in the new RuneQuest.
  14. It’s got to be said, that artwork is just superb! It gets better and better. Where is the scene set?
  15. Yes RuneQuest 2 was a big deal in the U.K. Games workshop did a good job of promoting and marketing it in the early 80’s. Using an alternative cover, but similar subject, the cover was used on RuneQuest miniature figures boxed sets too, There was a quality deluxe feel to the sculpts and packaging of the minitures, which married well with the RPG rules. Beside that the rules and setting were a very strong alternative to D&D
  16. You may find this really interesting. The Grognard files podcast discuss StormBringer in 2 parts: https://armchairadventurerblog.com/2016/02/21/episode-5-part-1-stormbringer-rpg/
  17. Another great image. Can’t wait to see the the final product.
  18. Stands to reason that we need the obligatory big monster pic. Need a jaw dropping monster moment in the new RQG book
  19. That sounds great. Can’t really have RQG without Pavis & the big rubble - remains a rich & exciting place, so iconic and with a fresh new approach to RQG I can see it coming alive again in a big way . Fingers crossed other areas will be properly explored in the new edition too. I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that a Notchet supplement is in the works? Ah the potential!
  20. Absolutely - Theres so much that has never really been explored visually in Glorantha, funny as its a fantasy world with such extraordinary rich potential. I have high hopes for RQG to rectify this. The quality of artists and art direction we've seen in the previews has opened the door to great possibilities for RQG. Its been a while and I've a Gloranthan thirst that needs to be quenched
