since MRQ is soundly ignored - which new players to RQ aren't likely to know about
Mongoose RQ is most of the time ignored on this forum because:
. it is out of print and even not (and will never be) available as pdf these days, so not really useful for newbies to be refered to
. not set in 3rd age and even the depicted 2nd age has evolved since
. art was (unfortunately) almost non existant anyway so nothing here to recycle
but if people can manage to find them, at least campain books and living campaign scenarios were excellent stuff.
Idem, as long as excellent RQ3 books are not available again in pdf, you will not see a lot of reference to them in newbies threads. -
I say seller should offer a big discount for the party providing needed rare components available only in the Big Rubble Garden part!

Hum, is it really reasonable to want to attack a Dream Dragon, most of all with beginning characters?

+1 for Poul & Karen Anderson's King of Ys series.
French readers can also look at Bellovese celt king story : Rois du Monde by Jean-Philippe Jaworski (5 tomes for now).
In march, we also got in France the translation of Donald Quest comic, but I guess it should be on the bottom of your reading list! -
You have:
. Appendix E: Bibliography in HeroQuest Glorantha.
. Appendix N: Bibliography in RuneQuest 2 (Classic)
Most are included in Jeff's Gloranthan Readings:
https://www.glorantha.com/readings/In fiction, I would also suggest, among others:
. Gene Wolfe - Book of the New Sun series
. Gene Wolfe - Soldier of ... series
. Harry Turtledove - Gerin the Fox series
. Jessica Salmonson - Tomoe Gozen series
. Robert Holdstock - Mythago Wood seriesIn non fiction:
. Diane Wolkstein - Inanna, Queen of Heaven and Earth: Her Stories and Hymns from Sumer
. Unknown - The Mabinogion- 2

Parallels have their limit and should really be used for a very broad scope only.
Basic parallel is Bronze Age ancient world, 1000 BC and earlier mainly.
For details, I use previously shared parallels:
. Orlanthi: Greeks of the Iliad, with constant feuds & raiding, with bits of Thracians / Black Sea celts
. Lunars: More ancient Greek (Macedonians) & Persians than Romans, and with massive destruction weapons (Crimson Bat for example)
. Dara Happans: Mesopotamians (Assyrians / Hittites)
. Esrolians: Minoans (Earth matriarchy)
. Praxians: Exotic beast rider nomads, living in an apocalyptic (Mad Max type) desert
. Grazelanders: Old Magyars / Scythians
. Sundomers: Spartans in the Wild WestYou can also check Guide extracts on glorantha.com:
. For Orlanthi:

What I saved from Jeff on Google+:
Quote10k ducks: The ducks are one of the tribes of Sartar and centered on the small city of Duck Point.
The total number of ducks is comparable to a single Sartarite tribe. They largely scattered into the marshlands after Starbrow's Rebellion, but returned to Duck Point and the Duck Vale with the return of Kallyr Starbrow to Boldhome. By 1621, Duck Point and Duck Vale were likely to some extent thought to be under the protection of Ironhoof. In 1625, the ducks acclaimed Kallyr as their Prince, and later acclaimed Argrath in 1627.
Edit (not relevant): The nes(w?)tlings in Dragon Pass are primarily transient "bachelors" from the Holy Country and Maniria. I don't actually think they are ever all that numerous - maybe around 4k (with another 3k in Prax). They then return to the Holy Country or Maniria to become full breeding adults.- 2

Well, I would say respecting canon is only useful if you want to publish official material.
Otherwise, if it is useful/fun/inspirational for your campaign, go for it: there will be not glorantha canon police coming for you at your table! -

A blast from the past:
Press Release, January 21 2001
Oakland, CA
Issaries Inc. Signs Robin D. Laws to Write NovelIssaries, Inc., is proud to announce that it has signed up world famous author and game designer Robin D. Laws to write a novel for the Hero Wars fiction line. Robin is known for his excellent fiction works, including the novels Pierced Heart and The Rough and the Smooth. Robin is also the designer of the popular roleplaying games Feng Shui and Hero Wars, among many others.
A Promise of Thunder is a full length novel about young Tarkalor, the forgotten son of the royal family of the Kingdom of Sartar. The young prince struggles with the burden of royal blood and divine descent during Sartar's war against the Lunar Empire.
Robin comments, "I've always wanted to write fiction set in Glorantha. My Tarkalor novel deals with the nature of heroism, the clash of ideologies, and passionate family conflict; all perfect for good fiction. Not just good gaming fiction, but good fiction, period."
=> a glimpse of the future fiction line?

You have the "When the Wolf Pirates Came to the City of Wonders" by Phillis Ann Karr in "Gloranthan Visions", a collection of Gloranthan short tales that was part of Hero Wars: Roleplaying in Glorantha boxed set.
Perhaps it will be reprinted in future to come Glorantha fiction line...- 1

At least in old Runequest an unfocused spell takes 2 rounds of concentration to cast
So, exactly the same as in new RQG, according to page 254...

Also there was talk of an adventure by Steve Perrin, and the last adventure by Greg Stafford in what sounds like a sandbox in a new part of Dragon Pass?
as far as I understood, they are included in The Smoking Ruins, forming a mini sandbox around that part of Grazelands, with separate Grazelander Campaign book being also by Mister Klug.

Likely only after Gods & Goddesses of Glorantha is available so sometimes in 2020 I guess (personal guess).

You've catched me cold here. What's the Red Book?
As Jeff said: it seems a Rune/Spirit spells compilation, the equivalent of Cthulhu's The Grand Grimoire of Cthulhu Mythos Magic.

This is the first time I've heard about material being released set around the Smoking Ruins. That's intriguing...
Or it could to be included in the Grazelands book...

Reminder of where to find it:
QuoteReplenishing Rune Points and the Extension Spell
A Rune spell must expire before the Rune points expended in casting the spell can be replenished. In nearly all cases, additional clarification is not necessary to even spell out in the rules, as the worship ceremony takes longer to perform than the standard duration of a Rune spell. When a Rune spell’s duration is prolonged because of an Extension spell, the Rune points used for both the Extension and the underlying Rune spell cannot be replenished until the Extended spell expires.
Example: Vasana casts Shield 1 and combines it with Exten- sion 4 so that it lasts an entire season. This uses up all 5 of her Rune points. She cannot replenish those Rune points at the next seasonal holy day to Orlanth and must wait until the Extension expires before trying to replenish those Rune points.

Note that for that 19.95€ shipping cost, you can add several books to your order without an increase of that cost.

And for broke adventurers, don't forget that fresh unicorn dung have healing powers and can counter poisons.
Not sure if I remember it well, I believe it is 1 recovered HP per kilo of (ingested) dung...
