  1. After posting this I realized there is little reason for the characters to doubt the angels... After all, if the soul is just as immaterial there as it is here, no doubt people would care as much, or as little, as there as we do here. Unless one can peer into their kingdom, which I guess is possible there since it's real and there is magic just for that over there. I might have to ignore this campaign arc, or possibly put them in contact with some powerful entity that is aware of the price they pay. I was thinking to have an archmage go apostat, and enemy of the state, when he realized the angels were depriving him of immortal life, might do use that.. :)
  2. After years of nothing much creative wise.. I think I am finally starting to be creative a little bit! yeah me! One of the path I am exploring is the cosmology that introduce "god like figure" to the story and hopefully to the world as more than just story background but also occasional NPC interaction. Anyway short story is gods, demons, faeries, etc.. are all what I call voidlings whose ultimate goals is to harness powerful mortal souls for consumption - a macguffin in game play term, ie. no stats involved. For that goal, the most accepted ones (typically archangels in my starting campaign location), would "mark" people on their 16th birthday. Both gifting them their magic (angelic magic in that case, but there are others) and also acting as a spiritual leash to collect their soul on death. Hence in this particular setting, there will be no resurrection or everlasting life. At least as a gift of a gods. Now my problem, that doesn't seem so bad. Angels personally teach magic in the temple but tend to act aloof and indifferent in mortal affairs (i.e. they wouldn't protect their town and temple if attacked, by another angel worshiper that is, of course they would intervene against "heretic", nobody steals from the archangels the souls they are due) is the worst that can be told of them, so I suspect my players might accept the angelic mark without much of a second thought. Now my problem is I want the player to be suspicious of the angels and their soul mark. But on the angel's side, they do wait for natural death without much of any negative influence. But then, they do consume the eternal soul, in fact depriving their believers of what eternity the soul can afford. What would you suggest to cause suspicion in players mind? One idea I have, but I'd like more. Is that the player could meet daemons and faes that offer better deals (their soul too, but for more or more interesting magic) and clearly inform them that the angel do the exact same thing already...
  3. Ooo.. nice shot from "inside"! Never saw that one before! 😮 🙂
  4. yea more or less!! I would be more worried about weapon damage and armor protection, number are chosen more carefull with Mythras, for better effect!
  5. It feels like I am missing out by not eating nachos! 😮 Might have to go take away this afternoon! 😄
  6. Mmm... For your info, Modiphius 2D20 system has as much to do with D&D than say, BRP... In fact it's closer to BRP than D&D. It's quite a cool skill based system! 🙂
  7. Woa, that was a serious answer to a silly question! 🙂
  8. All those stories talking about the chosen one got me thinking. Who chose the chosen one? Why would it matter? If indeed the chosen one has a crucially important mission, couldn't the chosing one chose a bit of redundancy and multiple choice, for success's sake? That's all folks. Just saying!
  9. Just food for thoughts.. how can you both 1. identify yourself as moderate/center 2. do not like either major party I ask because being moderate/center, in effect, will make you vote in a way that will keep things just as they are, i.e. will keep both those major party in power and balance just as they are. I guess that's the politic of the "better the devil you know"... caveat, keeping things just as they are.. might very well be keeping them on track for a future you will like even less...
  10. Crom followers, always looking for the secret of steel... But what about the secret of chocolate!?!
  11. I heard American Election results are tomorrow! And, as you might know, in Australia, it's already tomorrow! 😮 But, unfortunately, due to our secret agreements with the time lords I can't disclose the results... Just saying! 😮😄
  12. I am not American nor living in America, but your media have so much reach that the whole world is following your tribulations with bated breath guys! 😮 ... I don't want to pressure anyone though, whatever happens, I hope it work out as good as it could for you guys! 😉 👍
  13. I did notice it too, with some surprise... haha! 🙂
  14. If it's anything like Australia, one doesn't vote for the prime minister, but for their local MP, and then each party decide who is their party leader, aka Prime Minister. I.e. while the people vote for an MP (hence a party indirectly), the party itself, and not the people, decide for the head of government.
  15. I should apply for prime ministership I reckon! Good pay for life, nothing to do!
  16. It's not all about War... all our parent have their own home, not so much nowadays.... That is a clear regression and a good cause for pessimism.. I am also angry, when I grew up I was pretty sure I lived in the better time there ever was by a long margin. Now I think, while it is much better indeed, I will give it a fail, considering 200 years of industrial revolution and tremendously unparallel energy and food production for easily the last 100 years...
  17. I don't want to open a can of worm and start a new scandal, but I doubt a single lettuce lasted that long! Unless it was (secretly?) rooted?! 😮
  18. You know what? I might have stumbled on that exact article a few weeks ago! 😮 Which prompted me to ask that funny question about now?! 😄
  19. So.. is a zebra white with black streak? Or black with white streak?! 😮
  20. I think 1,2,4,8 metres might ore historically accurate, look at those hoplite! although since there is a noticeable reach difference between a dagger and a sword maybe it should be 0.5,2,4,8 ?:
  21. On the Mythras forum, members are much less tolerant and interested in tweaking the rules system than here on the BRP forum. And I am speaking of tweaking something that is inherently arbitrary (and flagrantly "unbalanced") as Sorcery... (unbalanced as in magic user vs non magic user)
  22. Yeah BRP damage table is a little too out there... I came to realize Mythras damage table are much better. Like Mythras special effect too. And Mythras luck point too (few point with big effect, instead of lots of point with small effect) At the moment I am not GMing but I just discovered the 2D20 system by modiphius (conan and fallout), I like the simpler character creation / character sheet, though I am not sure the momentum / action / difficulty system is quite right. I really like how critical wound and HP work. And the perk /talent system.
  23. side note, I am quite impressed by the Fallout RPG (it's a 2D20 variant), haven't played it yet... while it has no class per se and being skill and perk based. it has level (though one can be level 1 and have a few skill maxed out already)
