Goldennose Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 What are the cults of these two Lunar Commanders in Jonstown? It doesn´t say anything of Diovena´s cult and Ruganath Tuskbane´s cult... And are those charachters Runelords? Quote
metcalph Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 (edited) Diovena is a devotee of a Lunar War Goddess (Sartar Companion p12). Hwarin Dalthippa is the most likely as she commands a Mirinite regiment and is from a country conquered by Hwarin. Ruganath being a Tarshite would probably worship either Yanafal Tarnils or the Seven Mothers. As to whether they are Rune Lords, they probably are. Edited October 7, 2019 by metcalph 2 Quote
davecake Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Hwarin Dalthippa is a possibility, but there are a few arguments against - Hwarin Dalthippa is a movement deity whose regiments are spear/javelin wielding peltasts or light cavalry, not swordsmen, and doesn't have the Death Rune. Probably just Yanafals. Though as a devotee, she is definitely a Rune Lord of whoever it is. I agree Rugenath would most likely be Yanafals or 7M. Quote

And she is an officer commanding the Mirinite Swords, not necessarily a member of the swords themselves. 3 hours ago, davecake said: 1 Quote
M Helsdon Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 The Mirinite Swords are a regiment of traditional Sairdite swordsmen, and I believe they worship Humakt; Diovena probably worships Hwarin Dalthippa? The First Tarshite Light Foot, also known as the Slavewall Foot regiment, worship a variety of Tarshite tribal gods, so their commander may do so as well. 1 Quote
Goldennose Posted October 10, 2019 Author Posted October 10, 2019 (edited) Tarsh in Flames says, that Ruganath is one of the greatest hunters in Tarsh. Is it possible, that he is initiate of Odayla and some other .... Starkval (How does that work in RGQ?) or Seven Mothers/Doburdan/Yanafals? Edited October 10, 2019 by Caras Quote

The Lunar Hunter is one of the aspects of Sedenya, Ulurda, her Beast Rune. Alternatively, he could be old-school and worship Orogeria, who is identified as Ulurda but the rural Pelorians are a bit cranky about the Lunars inhaling her as a mask of Sedenya instead of her own independent deity. This is permitted by the Lunar Way, who are largely permissive. Permissive enough to let an open Orlanthi? Mmmmmmmmmm maybe not. Doburdan is a Storm deity, Yanafals is a war deity, and the Seven Mothers in general are urban-oriented gods. The Lunar Way is largely a religion of city-states. It has a lot of focus on agriculture, literacy, rule, good armies, and so forth and things like hunting are mostly Green Age masks of the Red Goddess. Edited October 10, 2019 by Qizilbashwoman Quote

All true - but then, could also be a Yanafals hero cult for a female hero too. We are both extrapolating from inadequate info. TBH the fact that both characters have the same two runes and the vagueness makes me think they were meant to have more detail filled in later. Another possibility is that Diovena worships Yara Aranis. Mirin's Cross has a Temple of The Reaching Moon, and of course the troops associated with her are horse hating infantry. Quote
