seneschal
Chaosium is encouraging folks to enter a BRP children's adventure by September 30. But April 25 they announced a science fiction adventure contest, deadline August 30. Just curious whether anyone here participated in the first contest? Also, anyone submitting a kids' adventure? Baron
I don't have one to submit, but I'd be interested in seeing the submissions!

rleduc
I asked Dustin for a little more time on my Science Fiction contest submission. I have almost completed a Rubble and Ruin (but can be run as a generic PA) adventure to submit. I'll have mine in within 48 hours. (And then I am on to Magic World)
seneschal
One week and two days to go on your children's adventure or Cthulhu poetry contest entry. Is everyone hard at work?
Atgxtg
One week and two days to go on your children's adventure or Cthulhu poetry contest entry. Is everyone hard at work? I recite the poem and Chtulhiu ate my kids. Quote Chaos stalks my world, but she's a big girl and can take of herself.
seneschal
Whew! I just submitted my entry for the 2012 BRP Children's Adventure Contest. Managed to get it in a day and a half ahead of time. Wish me luck! Anyone else participating?
rleduc
No time -- I wish I could. I have a great idea for a pixie adventure that my daughter would love...
Baron
Where do we get to see these entries? My daughter needs roleplaying!
seneschal
I don't know. Haven't heard anything about the 2011 contest entries other than "A Nation Ransomed," which apparently was long enough for its own book. No acknowledgement yet from the editors on sci-fi and kids' adventures submitted. I guess they're busy with the Orient Express kickstarter. Baron
Orient Express Kickstarter? They looking to re-do the set with the little punch-out railway cars?
seneschal
I don't know about the punch-out cars, but yes. It's been a big deal on Chaosium's site, and they've met and exceeded their pledge goal. So it looks like a new version of the boxed module is in the process. Just wish we knew the status on those contests.
Baron
Well, if it came with all the punch-outs and fiddly bits, I'd find room in my budget for it!
nclarke
The Horror on the Orient Express kickstarter has closed now so you'll have to wait for the product to hit stores in about 9 months time. Expect a hefty price tag though. Quote Nigel
Link6746
My material is WAAAaaaay too dark for this kinda stuff. Plus traditional sci-fi, to me, has never been as good as cyberpunk stories.
seneschal
At this point, I'm waiting on the outcomes of three contests: the 2011 adventure contest, the sci fi contest, and the children's adventure contest. One winning entry from the 2011 contest has been published as a monograph, but not the other winning entries. No word yet on the two most recent contests. Chaosium has been silent as the tomb since the successful conclusion of the Orient Express kickstarter. Presumably that means they're busily preparing the new boxed adventure, a good thing, but updates on previously announced projects and the contests would be nice, too. Link6746
Would Cyberpunk work as sci-fi for this purpose? I'm thinking of porting a custom setting to BRP and it might be usable for 2012 contest as a late entry if so. Has some really cool elements- Psi Amps for psionics usage, seperated psionics skills, and the option to make netrunning a whole new environment, as well as bio-replacement synthetic bodies, and guidelines to creating implants and prosthetic parts and bodies. Real evocative of the system shock model of cyberpunk sci-fi. Edited November 29, 2012 by Link6746 Further explaination

While cyberpunk is definitely a valid sci-fi subgenre, you might check with the Chaosium guys to see if contest entries are still being accepted. seneschal
Just heard from Nick Nicario about the assorted adventure contests: 2011 BRP Adventure Contest -- Apparently all winning entries were published in the monograph "A Nation Ransomed." If you were told that your entry was a winner but didn't receive a copy of the monograph, contact Nick. 2012 Science Fiction Adventure Contest -- A monograph containing the winning entries is on the schedule to be printed. 2012 Children's Adventure Contest -- May have been forgotten. Give Megan a month to get back from vacation, then contact her. FYI
