tooley1chris
I've been hard at work updating my Magic World Character Generator for NBOS and it's looking pretty good! I've all but completed the actual character gen process and am working with adding a page for purchasing gear.. Pretty soon we'll have a self contained generator that will take players, step by step, through races (calculating characteristics for human, dwarf, elf, half orc, half elf,and halfling per MW ), calculating starting funds and skills per occupation, calculate skills based on base%, experience raises%, and modifiers, on and on. The shop page will allow purchasing weapons, gear, and armor placing them in the inventory sheet after spending the bronze. All editable and printable of course. 1 Quote Author QUASAR space opera system: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/459723/QUASAR?affiliate_id=810507 My Magic World projects page: Tooleys Underwhelming Projects

tooley1chris
Almost done....You'll notice a lot of blank spaces. These will be auto filled during generation. Here's 3 of the 6 pages! I had to drop the Shop/Store section as it was a resource hog.Hope you Enjoy! You will also need to download the FREE small NBOS Character sheet designer to open and or edit the sheet, found here:http://www.nbos.com/products/charsheet/charsheet.htm you may need the .txt files here for editing:http://basicroleplaying.org/files/file/459-magic-world-character-generator/A Edited July 17, 2015 by tooley1chris Quote Author QUASAR space opera system: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/459723/QUASAR?affiliate_id=810507 My Magic World projects page: Tooleys Underwhelming Projects

tooley1chris
Don't forget that if you have a free or paid PDF writer installed you can print off PDF versions of the character sheet, choosing which pages to print. (Leaving out the guide and worksheet ,and Magic or Companion sheets if desired. ) You can also use the sheet designer to "edit installed sheet " to get rid of the background pics if you want a less printer ink hogging sheet. Baroque
It's very possible I'm just screwing this up but Hit Points appear to be calculated on the Front Sheet as STR/5 rounded up and not (CON + SIZ)/2. I modified the field in the designer to read (con.value+siz.value)/2 and that seemed to give out what I'd expect. I possibly broke everything else as a result, but hey... tooley1chris
Bah! I was screwing with an update and might have accidentally messed the code up. Looks like you got it working. It's not TOO difficult to figure out, but can be a pain. Lemme know if you have other issues. On that note, does anybody fInd a use for this? Like it? Hate it? Suggestions? Jae
I can only find CS vieweer for Win. Is there an option for Linux users?
tooley1chris
I'm not sure. You'd have to check the NBOS forums. Chaot
I can only find CS vieweer for Win. Is there an option for Linux users? To piggy back, is there a viewer for mac users? Quote 70/
nclarke
http://www.nbos.com/products/charsheet/charsheet-requirements.htm Only supports WIndows but the link suggest that it may run on WINE but that isn't supported. Quote Nigel
Chaot
So emulation or booting windows are my choices, right? You need a copy of windows to use WINE, don't you? I forget. It's been years since I've looked at it. Quote 70/
nclarke
I'm guessing that any Windows emulator may work and the better you are at tweaking such an install the better it's likely to work. Quote Nigel
nDervish
You need a copy of windows to use WINE, don't you? I forget. It's been years since I've looked at it. I believe you did need a copy of Windows to use WINE years ago, but it's completely self-contained and devoid of Microsoft-owned code these days. mcarson
I am able to bring the sheet up in the Viewer, but I'm having trouble with entering information. In text entry boxes, the pink area goes blue when I click in the box. I can't see the text I enter, but it does show up the next time go to a new field. That's difficult to use, but can be adapted to. Where I hit a hard stop is that the dropdowns don't show a list - or perhaps show a blank list. This means I can't select a profession or experience level, and so I can't move on from there. If I'm missing something, I'd greatly appreciate a pointer in the right direction. Thank you for your time!
tooley1chris
It sounds like the .txt files aren't being found by NBOS. I placed all these files in my MyDocuments\NBOS\CharacterSheet and they work well.Just re-ran the program myself with no problems. .. Admittedly NBOS is not perfect software and you may have encountered a glitch...maybe reload? mcarson
That's very likely it - I didn't see any text files, so they're probably what I've done wrong. Please pardon me for being obtuse, but where do I get those files?
tooley1chris
Now that I think about it, I think it's supoosed to run without thise .txt files. Sorry, I haven't played with its mechanics in awhile. I'll have to experiment with it and post more thorough instructions.until then the .txt files are here: Quote Author QUASAR space opera system: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/459723/QUASAR?affiliate_id=810507 My Magic World projects page: Tooleys Underwhelming Projects
tooley1chris
Ok. Out of curiosity, I removed all of the .txt files from my copy file and all drop downs worked fine.I'm not sure why you're having difficulty. ..Has anyone else experienced this?
