  1. So I'm making an adventure with a little side trek. The side trek is as follows: The PCs find a cave and entering it they spot a grotesque demon cast a spell and change into a Knight in shining armor. This "Knight" is guarding 3 beautiful young lasses, who are shackled to a wall. The wenches are sobbing for help. Claiming the demons spells won't fool them. They know what it is. Why does he taunt them so? Ect... Here's the twist. The lovely prisoners are actually Succubus and the Shining Knight is just that. A Holy warrior under oath to guard the demons. Their beautiful forms are an illusion as was the knights transformation from demon. My PCs love rescuing maids in distress and I'm thinking they will fall for this ruse. My question is this: would killing the Holy warrior count for points in shadow? Since when he does die the PCs see him for what he really is. A Holy man...
  2. Friendly pirates... Sorry. Couldn't resist. This looks uber cool. I love pirate themed campaigns! Can't beat the price either.
  3. Okay, check this out and see if it seems right: (edited to include a fumbled attack and coma duration)
  4. Agreed. I've already started work on the new Attack/Defense Matrix. I really appreciate your input as I don't want to veer far from MW mechanics. Look forward to your analysis and suggested changes.
  5. Thinking about getting rid of the mental attack chart and replacing it with a chart similar to the Attack/Dodge chart in MW, Only substituting Dodge with a mental Dodge= INTx5. At least that would cut some of the clunky out. Think?
  6. Anyone else had a chance to read through this or want to comment on above posts? I'm really curious what veterans think.
  7. One of the Magic World PbP games Im running over at UnseenServant has a player doing the Alchemist occupation from my Alchemy and Artifice book and I think it's going to be great fun. The player is a great Roleplayer and his little gnome alchemist is really digging in.
  8. Got lucky tonight! I was removing files from my old phone to give to one of my kiddoes and found a txt file with about 40 ideas for the Mega dungeon I came up with a couple months ago when I was first contemplating the project. All of the sudden inspiration is flowing again.
  9. Nah. Even as mod I don't see it...at least on mobile
  10. Gotta admit. This sounds like a whole lotta fun.
  11. Save the map, i think i used the snipit screen capture app for this, but any screenshot would work. Drag the pic onto maptools map area, adjust size as needed.
  12. Here's a Google map using MapTools of Six Flags amusement park in Missouri. Like any decent VTT you can move token around, add stuff, ect.. but MapTools is free.
  13. Yeah more rural or secure areas would be iffy for Google maps... Just FYI when I used Google maps for a PbP game at unseen servant, I used MapTools from the VTT RPtools. It allows you to import any image, like a map, to use as a backdrop and add notes, tokens, other art, ect to it. Worked great for moving tokens around the map.
  14. Again, this was based on the old AD&D Psionic chart that used the players INT + WISdom to determine power of the mind. The main reason I used this was that there are many very intelligent creatures in Magic World that have little POW, or visa-versa. By combining these there was a greater possibility that the Mental Attack would be a bit more difficult to use against opponents. Honestly, I'm once again wondering if I should even include it or remove it. I really appreciate you taking the time to review this work, Sunwolfe! It's given me some things to think about. I welcome any more comments you have concerning this or other works of mine.
  15. Oh, and also, I know you mentioned this but...not every game master keeps track of resources such as food, water, medicines, ect. I think it's VERY important that these are controlled in this type of campaign. It adds to the desperate and even hoplessness of the game. It binds people together and also forces them to do things, sometimes terrible things, they might not normally do.
  16. In my opinion all you need is BRP, a good modern equipment /weapons guide, and imagination. I ran a Walking Dead game with just BRP and Google Maps. It was a lot of fun. I chose to use The Walking Dead style zombie because of the possible high PC death rate if fast zombies were used, but I also mutated the virus to include animals. More specifically, mammals like dogs. Google maps is a great resource for any modern style RPG. With very little house ruling you should have a exciting, gritty campaign. A little advice though. As the game master you have to be very careful to weigh your encounters carefully to avoid total player kill. I always kept a group of NPCs handy in case things started looking grim for the PCs .
  17. Heya true believers! I'm working on a campaign right now that will be introducing my version of psionics into MW. I wrote this book called the Mentalists And I was wondering if anyone had time to look through it? Advice on changes? Horrible game breaking mistakes? Thanks for any advice!
  18. I erase spam as I see it but don't have access to ALL threads... The boss is pretty good about spotting these and ripping them out about once a week.
  19. Yeah. This idea is really intriguing me. Probably be my next project. Gonna take quite a while to finish mega dungeon though. I've found some pretty clever ways to bring PCs to various other parts of the mountain that have nothing to do really with the Ark itself. Side-treks, if you will...different reasons to explore different areas. My levels for the Ark are being fleshed out nicely, though I'll admit having areas so large as to hold so many creatures is becoming repetitive and somewhat boring. Looking for ways to spice up the action a bit. Try to incorporate mysteries and tactics. Think I'm doing a pretty good job of calling for LOTS of different skill rolls so as to include the various possible occupations. The Ark has a great eco-system in place due to so many lesser animals waking from hibernation, so it has at least a feel of plausibility. A problem I'm having is with humanoids like kobolds, goblins, orcs, lizard men, ect... Having some conflicts over territory and resources is fun, but I can't do the same thing for each species... That's just too many skirmishes. Too great of numbers against a handful of PCs... ANY suggestions on this point would be greatly appreciated!
  20. This was made for Magic World, but it may be of use to you with a little conversion..
  21. I understand why you do the characteristic sacrifice. All campaigns are different and you should balance it how you see fit, however... There are several spells that allow for creating undead, or even new creations, that call for using Magic Points to augment characteristics, and rules governing a spirit entering or possessing a body that contradict your house rule. Again, it's your campaign and you'll do as you see fit, and rightfully so. While I admire your methods, my players would see the necromancer doing the same thing with far less sacrifice and eventually raise the BS flag. Or worse still, try to have their spirit returned into an undead such as a Create Mummy spell. I do really like your placing a stigmata on a raised companion though. Since resurrection IS so rare in Magic World (do to a lack of spell /ritual, even for priests) I can totally see any such PC being feared as a demon or what-not. Also imagine if word gets out that a mage has discovered the secrets to raising loved ones from the grave! Such a service would be sought after by many, and also possibly seen as evil and the practitioner hunted.
