  1. I'll stick with my wording . You always detect as chaotic. Whether someone detects you as chaotic is a separate issue. Just like it doesn't depend on whether someone notices your deception when you lie, you're still lying.
  2. Nice surprise! When I flipped through the main Nochet book, coming off of reading your Imther book, I was the tiniest bit disappointed there weren't any cults or spells. I thought, well, it's specifically about a city and the Imther book a wider region, and explained it to myself thusly. Now I see that you had a plan for it all along. 😉 Btw, I appreciate the concientious pricing on this book. $7.99 is kinda cheap for 124 pages, but I assume subsumed into that decision is the overlap between this and the mother book. That price point makes it a total no brainer for me to pick it up, even if I already have a chunk of it.
  3. I absolutely love those covers, front and back.
  4. If you have a non-zero value for the Chaos Rune, you detect as chaotic. Unless you're Illuminated.
  5. I'm personally very interested in the Water pantheon book because the lack of previous coverage just about forces them to introduce a lot of new material in that volume. The Earth and Lightbringers books are useful, but very little of it is new.
  6. We know Solar follows Lunar, as far as cult books go. I think there's an almost 0% chance we don't get at least both of those in 2024. Jeff Richard apparently mentioned in a recent interview that there will be 6-8 RQ books over a 12 month period going forward.
  7. We knew it would be 2024, but like you I was hoping for the earlier the better, but March isn't terrible. It took them until July to start things rolling in 2023. On the bright side, Chaosium Con is in April, and I was a bit nervous they'd push The Lunar Way to coincide with that. There's a solid chance they will still release something in mid April for the Con, so maybe that's when we get The Dragon Pass Gazeteer, and maybe Fire/Sky too if we're lucky.
  8. Some details on The Lunar Way (the cults book) dropped today on the Chaosium blog, along with a release date in March 2024. Cults of RuneQuest: The Lunar Way CHA4045-H $39.99 ISBN 9781568824741 160 pages Hardcover I believe in the Red Goddess, Mistress of Life and Death Cults of RuneQuest: The Lunar Way is the player’s guide to the deities of the Red Moon. The history of the Lunar gods, the Lunar Empire, the Red Emperor, and details for adventuring on the surface of the Red Moon itself."
  9. Why doesn't Chuck Huber have a writer credit in this book? He was credited in earlier publications as the author of the Caladra and Aurelion cult write-up, and the description in this book is mostly duplicated from that earlier work.
  10. I think there are definitely more than one cult for some (many) deities because very different cultures worship them, frequently under different names, and the form of the power that they derive from that worship would be guided by their needs and circumstances. That's strongly implied throughout the history of RQ/Glorantha.
  11. Except they don't. They haven't so far, at any rate. They don't even update the .pdfs, they just put the errata on a website somewhere.
  12. In the absence of any rules explicitly contradicting them, I would use the standard benefits (1d10 DI, species max POW resist, etc) for rune levels of all cults.
  13. I will buy one of these for myself. If DriveThru has a gifting option (I don't know if it does), I'll also buy one for anyone who asks me to do so.
  14. I'll be that guy who adds that, dependent on your particular interests and the interests of your players, there are some JC (Jonstown Compendium) books that you may find as essential or moreso than some of the official, Chaosium produced books. For example, are one or more of your players interested in playing Hsunchen? Then Children of Hykim is something you need. Plan to run a campaign in Esrolia/Nochet? Then you're going to want to check out the Nochet: Queen of Cities book by Harald Smith. Planning to venture into Sun County? There's a whole series of great Sun County books. And so on.
  15. It's always nice to get updates and additions to JC books. Thanks for that! I hope to see a volume 3 in the near-ish future. To be honest, I like the original art style better, though. Some of the changes seem like odd ones to me. The original cover is better imo, for example. I would personally prefer to see the interior art be more like the original drawings than the more filled in, painted looking pieces that replaced them if and when another volume comes out. Just my 2 cents.
  16. Or perhaps "Vadrus' nature is inclined toward violence", etc.
  17. I tripped on this the first time myself but it's not actually an error because "they" here is a singular, not a plural.
  18. Page 42 (Chalana Arroy), under "Temple Organization": "...served by a body of healers, each in term served by several initiates" should be "turn" Page 44 (Chalana Arroy), under High Healer requirements: "They also must have a Worship (Chalana Arroy) skill of at 50%" should be "skill of at least 50%" Page 46 (Chalana Arroy), under Harmonium spell description: "Those within the zone cannot resist it effects" should be "its". Page 69 (Llankor Mhy), under Cult Organization: "Any inter-cult discussions are presided over by the Sage..." - should be intra-cult Page 71 (Llankor Mhy), under Requirements to Remain Initiated: "All initiates take a vow of truth, unlike with lay members, the cult acts against initiates..." - the comma after "truth" should be a semicolon Page 88 (Founchild), under Temple Organization: "This is explained further in the Initiate Membership section" - it (the Great Hunt) is explained further in the Master Hunter section, not the initiate section Page 111 (Lanbril), under Before Time: "Lanbril studied the ways of deceit and perfected the techniques of subtly and disguising his behavior" - should be subtlety Page 114 (Lanbril), under Lanbril's skills/Thieves' Argot: "Argot has a limited vocabulary and range or expression..." - I think that's supposed to be "...and range of expression" Page 115 (Lanbril), under Rune Priest requirements to join: I think this one is intentional, but 15 rune points (and in one cult) is a super high requirement, high enough that you're basically saying you don't want players to ever have Lanbril rune priests... it goes on to say "Lanbril wants as many priests as possible." Not with that requirement he doesn't. Page 117 (Lanbril), under Non-Lanbril Thieves: "... concentrate as much upon embarrassing their victim as on gaming wealth" - gaining wealth
  19. I grabbed a copy and did a flip through already (so to speak); if this reads as well as it looks... and with contributors of this caliber that seems a fait accompli... we have yet another winner in the JC. Check this out, folks.
  20. Not January. Quarter 1. We don't know more specifically than that.
  21. Seemingly it should just end with "... spell of Clever Tongue." If there was a different spell that should have been there instead of the repetition of Hide Fire, it would also have said "spells" plural.
  22. Yeah, but theoretically, how many copies do I need to buy to make this happen?
  23. Heck, yeah! JC authors/artists are bringing it this summer, and Chaosium is getting in the act with three books in two months.
  24. I don't know how it breaks down among fans, but the part right after that where he's pretending to be us and saying "do us a favor and string them out!" is so, so far from how I feel about it. Even if you subscribe to the idea that $300 is too much to spend all at once, which I totally get, getting from there to $300 over the span of over 2 years? And they're not giving us the choice. If all the books came out at once, or over 10 months, say, people who could afford it could buy them. Those who couldn't (or chose not to) could pick and choose and buy the rest, or not, as they felt like it. They decided on our behalf that we need 2+ years to save up, and it's annoying.
