  1. What does all of this have to do with Pendragon?
  2. For a minute there I'd thought you'd embraced banning, and kicked your first user off the board.
  3. Wow, so I can 2 1/2 escorts for the cost of one M1A2 Abrams? Sighn me up for the escorts!
  4. Delaying was in the palyer book, but you would have had to declare the delay in the Statement of Intent Phase. If you chose to parry on your strike rank instead of attack we allowed it but then applied the changing action rule, so any new attack would go off 3 SR plus normal weapon SR from the point you switched actions - which generally meant no attack. You would need a melee SR of 3 to get off an attack at SR 9 if you changed your attack to a parry at SR 3.
  5. Well that could certainly explain where the rule came from then.
  6. I think the house rule I used to use was that you could parry with any weapon (1H or 2H) as long as the attack you was not on the same SR as your attack (definately used statement of intent, so any delaying your attack would have had to have been declared at the beginning of the round).
  7. That is all pretty much the way I understand it. Trademarks do not expire as long as the trademarked character or image or whatever is still in use. Disney had a big part in the having copyright terms extended here in the U.S. When say the copyright on say Steamboat Willy expires, you will be able to show that movie, which 'stars' Mickey Mouse, but you will NOT be able use Micky Mouse in any other way, as he is trademarked. And Disney does vigorously defend it's trademarks. They will even throw their weight against smaller competitors who are 'in the right' - usually a smaller company cannot afford to defend itself against a juggernaut, even if they know they will win in the end (not that Disney is the only company to do this).
  8. I played a Baboon and had great fun with him. I've always liked Gloranthan Baboons and never understood the hate for them. It really must come from Gringle's Pawnshop, they are probably one of the first enemies faced by like 90+% of RQ players. But does everybody hate Centaurs too? I think not. Negative stereotyping is what I call it.
  9. Wow. I think my play by post game runs faster than that.
  10. That was considered pretty standard operating procedure for both PC's and NPC's in most RQ games I've played in. Knock that spellcaster off his spell only makes sense. A favorite tactic of mine is to buff up with defensive magic and then stand there pretending to cast spells just to draw missle fire away from the guys doing the real work.
  11. :thumb: Mouse poised above the Mark Forum Read Quick Link....
  12. The worst part is I was away for about 10 days, and just got caught up. :ohwell:
  13. What happened? My unread marks have been somehow set back to one week ago.:confused::confused:
  14. I use it sometimes as well. Is there any downside to keeping quick reply?
  15. Of course we don't have BRP yet, but here goes based on past experience with BRP based games and the info on this board: Well since the RQ Magic systems are not in BRP we can leave those out of the discussion - but MRQ magic is a big area of difference from earlier versions. No total HP is a big difference. MRQ only has HP per location, BRP has total HP. There is no resistence table in MRQ. As a whole everything in MRQ is supposed to be skill based. A STR vs. STR roll on the resistence table in BRP becomes an Athletics vs. Atheletics opposed roll in MRQ. Also, POWx5, CONx5 rolls etc are replaced by skills. Combat in MRQ uses opposed rolls and a table. MRQ uses Initiative rolls - they are called Strike Ranks just like in RQ2/3 but RQ strike ranks are fixed and based on SIZ(reach), DEX, and weapon reach, while MRQ uses a d10 roll plus (DEX+INT)/2. BRP from what I've read here uses DEX order with RQ2/3 Strike Ranks as an optional rule. Overall, as a result of slightly lower damage, less lethal criticals, and the lack of total HP MRQ is not as deadly as BRP (though still deadly compared to most other games). MRQ experience uses Improvement Rolls assigned by the GM for experience rather than the use based experience checks in BRP. MRQ uses Hero Points (optional in BRP). Hero Points can be used to save your skin OR can be hoarded to buy the next big difference... Legendary Abilities - MRQ has feat like abilities that can be purchased. Though they are very different than feats in some ways - they are very hard to get, usually requiring a very high skill and or characteristic as a pre-requisite and cost a lot of Hero Points - which as mentioned above are also used to save your character or for re-rolls or whatever. MRQ Character Creation is very streamlined, not sure what the new BRP is like exactly. MRQ Skills are ver consolidated. Swim, Jump, Climb all fall under Athletics for example. Again, not sure how much moreso than the new BRP. The systems are similiar enough it is easy to use bits and pieces from one in the other.
  16. INT could be the 'intelligence' of the shipboard computers (how advanced they are), while POW could be the robustness of those systems. HP would represent physical damage, and POW Pts./MP could be used for Electronics damage (computers, sensors, etc). Electronic Warfare or Sensor tech (or even shield systems) could be the 'Magic System' of starship combat.
  17. Please tell me you left the severed nose in. Some of my fondest memories of SB come from that Major wound table, and noseless PC's. At one time we had two in the same party.
  18. Variable armor as implemented in SB in no way simulates the effect of different types of weapons agianst different types of armor though - mail is just as likely to roll max protection against a mace as it is to roll minimum protection against a sword slash.
  19. I've never been a HQ player (never got past HW) but I have bought a few HW/HQ books and they are very useful. Great background generally to a level of detail that exceeds any other Gloranthan publications. I have a few more on my 'to buy' list.
  20. Nice Trif. Swap the main page around, causing mass confusion and panic, right before going on vacation. Good going. >:-> (thanks for getting the evil smily in before going though! :thumb:)
  21. I'm stealing this. I don't know when or where, but consider it nabbed.
  22. Me too. I loved Space 1889. And the only rules that really suck are the combat rules (and to some extent chargen in how characteristics interact with combat). However the integration between the RPG and ship combat and miniatures rules was great.
  23. I'll take a double with extra fleas. Very Rare. It isn't the same if they don't struggle and scream.
  24. If Magistus can't find the Wiki you definately have a problem Trif. (It is actually the NuWiki link dead center of the bottom row of the header bar - right below where it shows what thread you are in. It took me a bit to find it too).
