  1. "Style: 5 (Excellent) Substance: 5 (Excellent) - this is gaming history in the making. This product is so pioneering, so over-the-top in what it tries to achieve and how triumphantly it succeeds, that it deserves the creation of a whole new grading system. This is the end of role-playing as we know it, and the transcendence towards a new experience with similarities to a LARP." —Antonios S. of RPGNet reviews the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society's MASKS OF NYARLATHOTEP GAMER PROP SET https://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/17/17758.phtml
  2. At Gen Con this year Sandy gave an illuminating seminar on writing horror scenarios—a topic he knows a thing or two about. It is now available on Youtube. Better still, The Alexandrian (RPG writer Justin Alexander's site) now has detailed and incisive step-by-step notes about the seminar. Useful viewing and reading for incipient and even experienced horror scenario writers... https://thealexandrian.net/wordpress/40658/roleplaying-games/notes-on-writing-horror-scenarios-the-sandy-petersen-way

Correct. The US ship landed some time, and the UK ship recently. The Australian ship is due to dock in Sydney on Saturday (with previous shipments the Australian ship was the first to arrive, maybe this one disappeared into a space-time vortext off R'lyeh for a few weeks)
  5. To everyone's surprise, there was a very upbeat discussion about Call of Cthulhu on Japan's NHK this afternoon (the Japanese equivalent of the BBC), and this tweet about it is now ranking #12 on Japanese Twitter: Shiro Sano is a well-known actor (and long-time Call of Cthulhu fan), who appeared in a Japanese version of Shadow over Innsmouth:

  7. Although this sounds just like the opening of a Call of Cthulhu one-shot, we're reasonably confident this isn't the ship delivering the CoC7 reprints, or the new RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha... Spooky similarities though to Chaosium's Free RPG Day offering in 2017, Sandy Petersen's one-shot THE DERELICT (now also featured in the Call of Cthulhu scenario collection PETERSEN'S ABOMINATIONS).

  20. The immense popularity of Call of Cthulhu in Japan - "hands down the most popular played RPG: ...where you think roleplaying game equals Dungeons and Dragons in many other countries, in Japan... roleplaying equals Call of Cthulhu."
