  4. And another new title from Chaosium: Edge of Sundown, Tales of Horror of the Wild West The western-horror story is far older than what most of us would even consider “the west”. For generations the American Indians told dark tales of their own, of spider women, skin-walkers, cannibals, witches, and thunderbirds. When white men ventured into the west, they learned some of these nightmarish stories from the natives—and they brought or created their own as well: tales told around campfires of mournful ghosts and vengeful spirits and terrible monsters native to the wild new land west of the Mississippi. That’s where Edge of Sundown comes in. This collection brings tales that visit the darker regions of the west, the places steeped in myth, legend, and blood. Meet the men and women who lived there—the monsters within and without. Make no mistake, there are more than a few gun-throwing hardcases in these stories, but by and large our protagonists are ordinary folks caught up in very extraordinary circumstances. Most importantly, this is an anthology of western-HORROR tales, not western-fantasy. No tall tales here, no wink-and-a-nudge-as-it’s-all-good-fun safe betting. We’re looking to give you the creeps, fair and square, no fooling around. So right about now you should be checking to make sure your guns are loaded, that your holster is oiled, and you’ve got your hat cinched on tight. Available now from DriveThruFiction: http://www.drivethrufiction.com/product/167927/Edge-of-Sundown And Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018WPCI54?*Version*=1&*entries*=0 The contents of this anthology include: The Claw Spurs by John Shirley Cemetery Man by Silvia Moreno-Garcia Jiang Shi in Chinatown by Kelda Crich Innocents Abroad by Don Webb Forked Tongue by Cody Goodfellow The Buzzard Women by Christine Morgan The Flute Players by Bruce L. 5. Another new title from Chaosium: Legacy of the Reanimator: The Chronicles of Dr Herbert West The Legacy of the Reanimator collects the original serialized H.P. Lovecraft story, “Herbert West—Reanimator” along with its two sequels and a bevy of short stories from some of the most renowned Lovecraftian writers. Reanimation. The process of bringing life to that which is dead. It is well known that the tow-headed fiend Herbert West came close to perfecting the process within his lifetime. It is also well known that the reanimated limbs, parts, and minions that he had created over the years eventually came back to haunt him—and dismember his body. However, Herbert West didn’t die. Well…yes he did. The problem is he didn’t stay dead. He was brought back in two round robins edited by Robert M. Price. The first was Herbert West-Reanimated followed by Herbert West—Reincarnated. These were published in old issues of Crypt of Cthulhu, and are terribly hard to get a hold of…until now. Details of Herbert West’s life from childhood to death—and beyond can be found within The Legacy of the Reanimator. Available from DriveThruFiction: http://www.drivethrufiction.com/product/167808/Legacy-of-the-ReAnimator And Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018X372VK?*Version*=1&*entries*=0 The Contents of this anthology include: Thought He Was a Goner by Christine Morgan Herbert West in Love by Molly Tanzer Herbert West—Reanimator by H.P. 6. New title from Chaosium! Cassilda's Song: Tales Inspired by Robert W. Chambers King in Yellow Mythos. "Cassilda’s Song is a collection of weird fiction and horror stories based on the King in Yellow Mythos created by Robert W. Chambers—entirely authored by women. There are no pretenders here. The Daughters of the Yellow Sign, each a titan of unmasked fire in their own right, have parted the curtains. From Hali’s deeps and Carcosa’s gloomy balconies and Styx-black towers, come their lamentations and rage and the consequences of intrigues and follies born in Oblivion. Run into their embrace. Their carriages wait to take you from shadowed rooms and cobble¬stones to The Place Where the Black Stars Hang." Available from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Cassildas-Song-Inspired-Robert-Chambers-ebook/dp/B018WRJO7M And DriveThruFiction: http://www.drivethrufiction.com/product/167795/Cassildas-Song--6064 Review on GoodReads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/26145911-cassilda-s-song
  7. The new stretch goal is a combination reprint of SoloQuest, Scorpion Hall, and the Snow King's Bride. That's over 200 pages of classic solitaire adventures. To prevent any debate as to which of the three covers to use, Rick's artfully combined them all into one for the front cover (to be fair, they were all pretty similar...)
  8. On day 11 and 1280 backers so far, the RuneQuest Classic Kickstarter is now the most backed Gloranthan Kickstarter to date! (The Guide to Glorantha got 1276 backers in 30 days, and the 13th Age Glorantha Kickstarter got 1,249 backers in 36 days.) 14 days to go - so if you haven't pledged yet, please do! Just under half-way to the next stretch goal: Cults of Terror ($120K)
  9. As outlined here, we are building the new version up from RQ2, incorporating concepts learned from RQ3, RQ6, Pendragon Pass, Call of Cthulhu, Ringworld, and the unpublished Epic System and RQ Dragon Pass campaign. We won't just be updating the RQ2 text if that's what you mean. It will be a new edition of the rules (RuneQuest), not RQ 2.1 or whatever.
  10. smiorgan: >Are BRP Essentials and Mythic Iceland 2 confirmed? Yes and yes >Is BRP Essentials to be based on RQ4 aka RQ7? The other way round. >Is the RQ6-based draft of BRP Essentials discarded? Many elements of RQ6 are part of the current draft.

  12. New model will significantly cut shipping costs for British and European customers Chaosium and Moon Design Publications have finalized a new fulfillment and distribution model for Europe, it was announced at the Dragonmeet Games Convention in London yesterday. Jeff Richard, Vice President and Creative Director of Chaosium, said UK-based firm Kixto (http://www.kixto.eu) will provide fulfillment for Europe, with the facility coming online in early 2016. "This is great news for our British and European customers because there will be a significant cut to the cost of shipping", said Richard. The Diana Jones award-winning Moon Design, who own RuneQuest, HeroQuest and other product lines related to Greg Stafford's mythic campaign setting Glorantha, recently joined the management of the veteran game company Chaosium, best-known for its acclaimed Call of Cthulhu RPG. Richard said all Chaosium and Moon Design products would be available via Kixto to European customers, including fulfillment of Kickstarter campaigns. Moon Design is currently running a successful Kickstarter campaign to reprint the iconic RuneQuest 2nd Edition as a "Classic Edition". A similar fulfillment and distribution arrangement for Australia and New Zealand is also in the works, Richard said. 13. As mentioned, the top tier backers also get all stretch goal-related PDFs at no cost (which now includes Cults of Prax!)
  14. Please note, when you buy the PDF of any stretch goal book you also get that amount credited towards the purchase of the printed book. For example, the "Plunder" PDF is $5. If you purchase the PDF you will get a $5 credit you can use towards the purchase of the printed Plunder book from Chaosium when it is printed later in 2016. Thus, if it ends up having a retail price of $15, you'll be able to purchase the printed book from Chaosium for $10.
  15. Kickstarter has reached 100K! Which means...
  16. Did you see an extra unpublished adventure by Greg Stafford just got added to it, for no extra cost? - http://basicroleplaying.org/topic/4180-new-old-greg-stafford-adventure-the-sea-cave/?do=findComment&comment=64679
  17. As we approach 100K, a new (old) Greg Stafford adventure has been added to the RQ Old School Sourcepack at no extra cost - http://basicroleplaying.org/topic/4180-new-old-greg-stafford-adventure-the-sea-cave/?do=findComment&comment=64679
  19. Rick has found another previously-unpublished Old School gem to add to the RuneQuest Classic Kickstarter... "The Sea Cave", a medium level adventure for 4-8 players by Greg Stafford, added free as part of the Old School RQ Source Pack to the $100 Rune Priest backer level and above! See more about it here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/224590870/runequest-classic-edition/posts/1435473
  20. RuneQuest Classic has just been made a Staffpick by Kickstarter! This is great because it significantly increases the campaign's visibility on the Kickstarter site and gets it mentioned in their mailouts etc. Also, it's very nice recognition bringing back RQ Classic is Good Thing!
  21. Well, I guess Daryli could be part of the family too - not part of the Raus main line obviously but with enough consanguinity to serve in the role household priest/civilized shaman. However, Lodril is an excellent fit for Daryli, who according to the Referee's Book is supposed to be a non-controversial figure not meant to ruffle anyone's feathers (except Pinfeather's - ha ha).
  22. I like the idea that no one has ever seen a Vadeli in the march of the dead, although it is documented that Vadeli have died in the city. And that the reason for this is inscrutable.
  23. I always assumed that because Daryli is the household priest of Duke Raus, therefore he is actually a civilized sort of shaman. Raus and family are ancestor worshippers - while they are culturally Lunar, they are not necessarily formal members of Lunar cults.
